My river has shale walls that constantly erode. The pieces fall into the water and create a rocky bottom. Usually its smallmouth central in those areas of the river.

@@jimtandlmayer9146 We have a train trussle but instead of small rock its all concrete. I still have caught fish around it and the other bridges though. The bottom is silt mostly other than the shale rock but there are laydowns all along the edges. That's where the largemouth usually hang out.

The edge of boat ramps and the rip rap around them tends to hold fish really well.

Jim Moynagh here in Minnesota won a lot of money on Lake Minnetonka with this pattern! Rocks mixed with milfoil and around it is a big bass magnet! Football head jig and a twin tail spider grub on the back of it.

Starting to see Core Tackle in my local Academy. Awesome to see it in more stores. The Ozark rig is truly something special.

Rock piles hold fish year round in my lakes that I fish. Whether it be shade in the summer or providing warmth in the winter they are crucial to me when I’m looking for places to fish. Also rocks can be key ambush spots for feeding bass, in my opinion they are definitely important in my lakes that I fish (Lake Mead, Lake Mohave) Thank you Matt for the interesting video I really enjoyed this one.

Here's something interesting, the other day, I was testing the ice thickness on my pond. I found that the ice over a rock pile was 2" thinner than the surrounding ice. As there was a layer of snow on the ice and we hadn't had any sun for several days, it got me wondering if rock also conducts heat from the earth. What do you think?
@MattStefanFishing13 күн бұрын
yep i bet the rock was giving off heat

Hey Matt, I thank you for doing what you do 1st off. I have a Shakespeare Wonder Rod with a Tennessee handle that needs new eyelets, plus I hope to make a custom blank, and I plan on using micro micro braids with anything from bluegill to bass. What eyelets would you recommend for a braided line? Thanks again
@MattStefanFishing14 күн бұрын
I like normal size guides for braid. The micro guides can be bad with braid IMO

@@MattStefanFishing Really good video. You do need to look for changes in the rock size, changes in depth, and most definitely shade lines around the rock. I like it when a dock is positioned on or right next to a rocky area, especially in the summer. It is usually good for a fish most trips.
