Is Flushing a Transmission Good for It? // Jaguar XJ8

Tom calls in about his brother's Jaguar XJ8 that is having transmission issues. Larry tells him that the ZF transmission that is in that vehicle uses a different type of transmission fluid than what is typically used. he also says that the transmission service should just be a drain and fill, that they should avoid flushing the transmission.

The transmission on the 4.0 Jaguar XJ8's was the ZF5HP24. Jaguar claimed these were sealed for life, however ZF has printed several bulletins saying the fluid should be changed every 50,000 - 80,000 miles , depending on use. The fluid specification is Esso ATF LT 71141. ZF LifeGuard is the preferred fluid.

If i were to flush my transmission id do it with transmission fluid a few times until it no longer becomes dirty then i would think its good

I have a 2006 xj8 jaguar, my rpm went passed 8, what would cause that to happen, please 😢 if you can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Did something break? Sort of vague try to be more specific when asking for help it will help you much more
