I thought the main thing is: There hasn't been a single piece of positive news about this game so far. A new graphical engine seems to be the only thing going for it, but to not even see a teaser at this point is causing anxiety. SI have not earned the benefit of the doubt: They barely change the game annually, and most of their new features are perceived to be pointless or half-baked. It's staggering how little has changed in twenty years. Miles is a bad communicator, like how he goes on about his holidays in a development post. It just leaves a bad taste in people's mouths.

You’ve invented the idea that it’s one or the other. Adding more players to the game is different to redeveloping a part of the game. It will be a dedicated team working on research etc. You’re adding 2 + 2 and getting 5 by deciding that it’s Women’s football that is causing the removal of international management. I don’t think additional work load will help with redeveloping a part of the game, but let’s not wilfully just use it as a reason to voice dismissive views.

I know Miles has stated that International management will return in FM26 ‘this will return as part of the base game and not as any form of additional download content’. That was the original plan for 24 and for me, there wasn't much difference between the two versions barring a few more new features to the game and getting a bit more of a polished match engine. I can see where you are coming from, where it would have been better to stick for one more year with the old engine and then give them another year of development time for the unity transition. Equally, I believe from their perspective they said FM 25 would be the move to unity so don't want to back peddle on that and then have to put resources into something they feel had reached its end in terms of capabilities from an Engine perspective. and also break a promise in the promise they made that 25 would be game that would be on then new engine so in some ways backed themselves into a corner. So they are now taking two steps back to make 3-4 steps forward now which I think was not what people were expecting going into 25.

@mikecrawshaw99732 ай бұрын
As a player of this franchise since Championship Manager 2, and as one of the 5% who does actually play as an international manager in my saves I am very disappointed it has been sacrificed. I understand the constraints of basically building a whole new game but to me this will be a big blow. The fact they've added the woman's game during this massive undertaking seems a rather unrealistic goal, as others have stated the additional time and resources needed for all the motion capture, additional database inputs (I know how long this takes from setting up a world super league in the editor), has clearly hindered the team. What % of players will play the woman's game? I would suspect that it will be minimal and less than those of us who play international management. As for removing weight and it not being a "big deal", well personally for me it is, as if I have 2 players with identical stats and height 1 player who is 12 stone and another who is 14 I take the heavy guy every time, they can say it doesn't affect in game performance but from my own experience it really does make a difference.
@theqaz18282 ай бұрын
7:30 Clayton, if it was just introducing a women's database on the FM24 engine i'd be inclined to agree with you. But it's not. It's double the work produce motion capture and graphics for the Women's game ontop of the Men's.and by doing it, sacrifices (like International management) had to be made. This isn't about weight, it's about ignoring the will of the (vast majority) players by spending a large amount of time producing a mode that maybe 5% of players will care about after a season at the expense of the 95% of players whom will mostly play the male game. Pretending otherwise is kind of dishonest.
@Clayts2 ай бұрын
I just don’t think it’s double the work to do those things, and respectfully, you have no insight at all into how the work is divided at SI. You’re (we’re) simply guessing that women’s football has meant that international football has to be sacrificed. You might be right. But you might be wrong. I actually think it’s a time thing/set back based on the engine change and not women’s football at all. I’m disappointed too that international management isn’t playable, but I’m not going to just blindly blame women’s football for it. Also, there is no ‘women’s mode’. Women footballers will just be part of the standard career mode. And who’s Clayton?
@theqaz18282 ай бұрын
@@Clayts Miles said himself that women move and play football differently to men and they needed to get separate motion capture of the women vs the men (and of course the women need their own graphics separate to the mens). So yes, it is a significant undertaking and yes sacrifices were made to the overall game to ensure this happened (I agree singling out any specific feature is pointless). I am not against the addition per se (any addition is good really), but pretending it hasn't been at the subtraction of the overall game is just flat out dishonest. It would have been a good addition to the FM24 engine where the "sprites" of the players are so unclear it wouldn't matter. In fact, if it had been up to me, I would just release FM25 on the old engine with the womens game as the "big selling point" (with a moderately discounted price tag) and then save the new engine for FM26 (released earlier in August/September to coincide with the new domestic seasons when interest in starting new FM saves is highest). Fix the game and the release date issue at the same time. Also I appreciate you taking the time to respond even if I don't really beleive you beleive what you are saying and are just saying it to be PC.

For me it's simply that their reasoning doesn't make sense as presented. Saying that female footballers weight fluctuates too much so they don't want to display feels like nonsense. And I'm not denying the veracity, it just doesn't make sense as a reason to remove it. Nobody is asking them to accurately depict weight variance and fluctuations, and they already admitted that weight doesn't actually impact gameplay, it's just visual. Not only that but it will still be there in the back end. None of that tells me that it needed to be hidden, they could have used an average, not bothered modelling variability etc. And variability aside, the exact same arguments could be made about height since jumping reach is the stat that actually matters. So, when it comes to "woke brigade" and such, I'd prefer they just come out and say that they didn't want to include weight for female players due to concerns about how the information would be used if that's the reason rather than a wishy washy excuse.

SI has gotten away with releasing halfbaked versions for years and years and now they release information of more features cut and postponing the game two months away from expected release. Screw the doom and gloom, it's going to be different, but different doesn't mean worse, not by any means. Getting rid of "weight" is so woke, VERY woke. Player weight helps in a number of ways. Strength in defensive situations, combined with height, it helps to know if your 6 foot 5 centre back is 14 stone and a brick wall or 8 stone and a strong breeze would blow them over. I get it with the women's side of it, I really do, but taking it out of the men's side is mad. Let's remove "aggression" or "determination" or "composure" shall we, in case someone gets upset. It also isn’t 5.6 % of people - they have been extremely clever with the wording - 5.6% of saves. So if I have 100 saves per edition and 5 of those are international ones then that is 5%. My thoughts (and I'm one of the "go with the flow" types, not the "noisy wheel" types): 1) international management: I have your opinion, I don't play it because it isn't good. I want to play it, but not until it is good. There will be so much new in this upcoming version, this omission won't bother me much. 2) Women's football; I think including it is good. I do not know if I will play it or not (until international, of course). It is ONLY a bad thing if having it in the game detracts from FM as a whole (ie the extra effort of the inclusion takes too much time away from developing the game as a whole). 3) Weights: the only time I pay attention is when one of my British friends has them listed in "Stone" on their UI, and I have to make fun of them for measuring with rocks.

I think we are very much aligned. Except the stones bit. But blame the weird amalgamation of imperial/metric in the UK of that.

I am unworried about the loss of International Management if it is going to return refreshed next year. More concerning is that they are announcing it now and not in the June blog when they announced the other game modes that were going to take longer to put into FM25. That together with the 2-3 week delay makes me think they are struggling with getting FM25 ready. I'm not getting anxious yet. The time to do that will be end of September if they push back the launch date again into December (or even later). As for player weights - absolutely irrelevant!

Comparing the way this is going with other devs who did similar things, it is absolutely sensible to wait until FM25 has been released to see what the game is like. It has all the hallmarks of being one of those games that will be released in some kind of late alpha/early beta phase. More likely the latter, SI are usually pretty good with their dev cycle. This is something you should do for all games. We all know the signs by now. The lack of international management sucks, but I like their honesty and I like they say it is so they can make it right before release. It gives more faith. Better to have a finished game with some things missing that will come back, than an unfinished one with all features. Still, for me I will give FM25 a miss until I see that it is either working fine, or until the final patch to see if it is good. After the crap that has happened with games like F! manager, I am not gonna pay for games that should be released under early access but instead are released as full, finished games with full price. I have faith that SI will deliver something decent, but I have my doubts FM25 is going to be worth the money over FM24.

It's a shame about International Management, as that is something that I genuinely used to aspire towards for my manager. But, one door closes and another ones opens - I would love the idea to go and try and win the Champions League with the men's and women's team of the same club or something. Like you said, if everything else has improved then it'll be worth it. Proof of the pudding is in the eating and all that.

Weight does nothing in the game. Why does it matter why even mention it
@boynextdoor1951Ай бұрын
Because it's a simulation where you take the role of a manager. The manager would know his players' weight.

@boynextdoor1951 it doesn't fluctuate it doesn't affect the sims, so get rid.

I'm excited for women's football in FM. Not only is it alot of unknowns in terms of player knowledge for the average football fan, but also alot of women's football doesn't have as much history to go off, so create a fresh dynasty sounds very fun. Also probably less finance to deal with, making it more challenging.

Between migrating to the new engine, and finalising data I think the usual Release date was always going to be tight So i am not too dismayed at a 3-4 week delay. I think a year of overhauling the International Management roles isn't unwarranted, as the game always felt very much like a limited draft anytime I took that type of job, As long as it is back for FM26 in time for the World Cup and it comes back with the ability to better monitor and interact with players and their managers I won't be complaining. As for weight I never use it, to the extent In FM24 I still display it in Kilograms which I have limited context to understand. If it was useful i would have switched to Stones. I think a game that is potentially going to have half a million people (after they add Female Footballers) in the database was always a huge challenge but i assume they must be close to ready for User Testing as to hit their new release date they'll need to submit the a gold version of the game to console stores for approval in mid October. Personally I can't wait to see how they link it all together hopefully they've fixed ownership models to better reflect different models of Multiclub ownership outside of Affiliated clubs.

Does anyone know of a content creator that has the balls to say: Yeah they are removing weight, an important statistic in football to appease women that nobody asked for? This is the honest take. I don't need them to be doom & gloom nor even negative. It is fine if someone believes it is worth it - to include women. But why can't anyone be honest about what has happened here. It makes it so incredibly gross.
@Clayts2 ай бұрын
It’s not the honest take. I have zero care about weight not being shown in the game, it’s not an important statistic in football. It’s not even a statistic. I said that removing international football is disappointing. And they’re not removing international management ‘to include women’.
@circaen2 ай бұрын
@@Clayts Weight is not important in football? That is an incredible thing to say. You could have at least said "Their football simulation is not deep enough for weight to matter" But again this topic leaves you willing to debase yourself. Except that is not even true because they admit there will be a weight used for the simulation. It is very simple logic that this topic has struck you too shallow to handle - They used their time putting in women's leagues that no one asked for that could have been used making International management. So yes they are removing international management to include women.

Oh and also, that Stockport coach's move to Real Madrid is off because he couldn't get an EU work permit. Which is quite FM in itself.

Honestly tho, how would you even fix international managment while keeping it realistic, the main problem is that you have very few games and cant really train a lot, but its not SI's fault, its just like that itl aswell

Its a play on a somewhat old fashioned English football saying. Instead of saying "Come on Villa!", an Aston Villa fan might say "Up the Villa!". Grimsby Towm are nicknamed the Mariners, so their fans say "Up the Mariners!" or simply "UTM" online. Up The WIfe! is a slightly risque take on this - expressing support for his wife, with a little bit of playful innuendo.
