England should try something creative like a 4-1-4-1 formation or 3-6-1 with Foden and Bellingham through the middle behind the centre forward, they would look so much more dangerous if they did that.. Foden does fine cutting in, but I have 2 issues with it, 1. there becomes no attacker on the left wing position, and 2. Foden has to do a lot more work to track back on the left position so overall it becomes an issue playing him there

Problem is hes leading the team with a guy that doesnt have a big game moment in him or experience in winning trophies(kane). Spain's 2 young wingers, Jamal and Nico are box office to watch, small, nimble, direct and don't think twice about shooting. This tournament the young stars have really shone, Turkey's Gular's goal is a front runner for the goal of the tournament. Which so far has delievered some awesome strikes, Shaqiri's first timer into the top corner was special, so to Denmark's goal v ENG. But on the other side of the scale, what's with the state of the pitches! How they cut up, reminds me watching a game from the 70's.

Following a string of 2 disappointing performances despite naming an unchanged team against Denmark and Serbia, England need to make a lot of changes in their next game against Slovenia because I still think that he doesn’t know what his best starting lineup is. So far at the EUROs, his treatment of Cole Palmer and Kobbie Mainoo 2 of the biggest breakout stars of the premier league last season has been questionable and they haven’t played a lot and they deserve some significant minutes in their next game. You have a guy who went into this tournament in top form and led the premier league in goals and assists combined had the 3rd most G/A out of any player in Europe last season while playing for such a weak team, yet they don’t know what to do with Palmer as in their 2 games, he hasn’t played a single minute at the EUROs. Do think he should start over Saka no, but when you sub him Kane and Foden all out at the same time and you can’t get him on the pitch, it’s clear that they don’t know how they’re going to use him at this tournament. You were in need of a goal threat and a creative player for the game against Denmark and even if the result would’ve been the same, he is capable of making a difference off the bench you just have to find a way to play him. One of the things that is lacking in England’s midfield has been a sense of calmness and composure and yet you’re not even using Mainoo enough. Trent Alexander Arnold in their opening 2 games of this tournament was the first player on the team to have gotten subbed off and he preferred Connor Gallagher over him and against Denmark or even Serbia, Mainoo should’ve been on the pitch to close out the game and give them something different in the middle of the pitch because when you have Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice 2 elite midfielders who were losing possession for fun and can’t keep the ball in a major tournament and they’re midfielders, that’s concerning for them going forward. Despite being 19 years old he has proven that he’s good enough to be on the pitch and while the tournament has come too soon for him and you don’t want to overplay young players, still he’s a baller and maybe if he was on the field they would’ve had much more control of the game and he would’ve slowed things down. Southgate needs to find a way to give Mainoo and Palmer more opportunities even if it means that one of them is coming off the bench.

This one would stink to english fans, but england are the PSG of international football, amazing squad but utterly underwhelming output. The thing is, their players are so individually brilliant and they somehow flop as a team. Anything below semi final is an under-achievement.

Complete blame on Gareth. His team selection stank. Tactical setup stank. Has midfielders/forwards who want ball to feet, come short and don't run in behind, playing counter attack & long ball. Has defenders can progess the ball, playing hoof ball. If you wont change your style to suit the players you have, then dont send the players home that actually can play your system.

The difference is that Man U got to the final frequently without Ten Hag. England never gets to the finals without Southgate. Southgate’s England is the most successful iteration of recent history.

@@samig9032 I get that, but it all depends on who you play. When England have done well, they've had easy runs to the semis or final. When they lose in the quarters they've lost to big teams, usually, so it doesn't really tell you much. In my opinion, Southgate's style is designed to keep things tight, to get a 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1 against the big teams. Unfortunately, against the small teams it makes them look pretty poor.

Southgate is a problem sure but the English players are not as talented as the media speaks of them, regardless of the manager, world class players can do a job done against lesser teams by individual displays.

Bellingham: one of the best in Spain, won the double. Kane: 45 goals in a struggling Bayern. Foden: best player in England. Walker: one of the best at right back. Trent: one of the best passers in the world. Rice and Saka: helped take Man City all the way. Stones: won the Champions League last season. All those players, barring Kane who played for Tottenham, have won a major tournament. So stop with the nonsense that they aren't world-class players. Every single nation would take those players, and several would go straight into even the best teams.
