Crazy how all of the blame is on geno or the offensive coordinator. None of the blame is on the 30th rank O-line. For a position group that is dependent on having continuity, it should be known that the seahawks had a lot of turnover in that position group. Can you name another position group that had their leader retire mid season? The seahawks also had one of the least efficient run games in the NFL. But sure chalk it all up to Geno's picks as the main reason, don't mention that he has the o-line that gives up the second most pressures.

@@Praying_Mantis3 basically the same o line produced a top 3rd of the league Offense the prior 2 seasons. Laumea was probably even an upgrade from Bradford. Grubb did not call a good enough offense to hide o line deficiencies. Shane Waldron was a better OC than he was. That's not even opinion, it's just fact.
@Praying_Mantis34 күн бұрын
@ I’m not saying that he doesn’t deserve some of the blame pie but we knew going into this that Grubb didn’t have much play calling experience let alone NFL play calling experience. Also George Fant, Michael Jerell, Christian Haynes, Laken Tomlinson, and Connor Williams weren’t on the team last year. The only starters who were on the team last year are Abe Lucas, Anthony Bradford, Olu Oluwatimi and Charles Cross of which only Cross played the whole year. Abe being injured most of the year, Bradford being in rotation most of the year and then getting benched for lamea and Olu being on the bench until Connor Williams retired. I would not call that continuity.
@tjdeuceosix4 күн бұрын
@Praying_Mantis3 the quality of play of the line was the same. In fact, Lucas's return and Laumea's ascension to starter probably had them as a better quality of o line. Tomlinson and Lewis are a wash and Brown and Williams/Olu Olu are also a wash.
@Praying_Mantis33 күн бұрын
@@tjdeuceosix quality of play being the same is a different argument than the players being the same. Ranking-wise they were about the same. Again not saying Grubb doesn't deserve blame, but if we're talking quality/talent this O-line was ranked only above the Patriots. Being slightly better than an O-line that people were afraid to start a rookie behind does not give me much confidence. That being said i would be okay with getting a new OC as long as we're not ignoring the O-line and thinking the new OC is going to fix all of the issues without investing anything into it.
@tjdeuceosix3 күн бұрын
@Praying_Mantis3 you got me on semantics. My fault for not saying "quality of o line" in my original reply. Bottom line is, there are ways for an OC to help his o line. Even Shane Waldron, who JSN couldn't find one good thing to say about him when asked by multiple Bears podcasts/media outlets, and then got fired mid season, was able to hide some of these o line problems to the tune of a top 3rd of the league Offense.

For TWP%, Geno sits at 2.7%. That is 28th out 46 QBs. So he’s not consistently placing the ball in harms way in the aggregate given the volume he’s passing for. K9 and Geno were killed by the swinging gates we have at guard. Laumea seems OK. Why havent they been able to coach up Christian Haynes. I just read his draft profile. He had an over all grade of 86. If that is the case, then all the Geno Haters need to STHU. Clearly, the O-line needs improvement. If they played just 20% better on just 20% more plays, we would be contenders all day long. There would be fewer pics, more running success, and certainly more passing success. This is a situation in most teams: Salaries go to star players so the seats will be full and they can sell more $100,000 pickup trucks. O-lines are neglected in high school and college, and then are expected to be The Great Wall in the pros. Ain't gonna happen unless coaching the boring part starts getting attention. League average is 2.6 seconds. Our O line is really really really bad, 30th or 31st in the league depending on the stat block used. When you don't understand what you are watching, you blame the wrong people. Just like people were saying our D line was bad against the run, but in reality it was the linebackers not filling gaps like they should. Changed them out and our D looked totally different. A lot of people are angry about the LA Rams pick 6 for 103 yards indeed that was horrible but the one that pissed me off the most was during the Green Bay on the first drive the Seahawks have one receiver who really is the best for the back of the end zone in the corner pass that receiver is Metcalf. It seemed like that set the tone for the whole game and I think Ryan Grubb they should give him a chance and if he is just as bad as he still is by mid-season next year then he goes he knows I say that because he knows he has to balance out the plays on the field. Play all things cannot pass 75% of the time and then expect to make big running plays when it is so obvious they have to run you have to mix it up and you cannot give up on the run. The offensive line and the running back are the key to winning games in Seattle now has the three best running backs I think in the league well some of the best. And I think they could trade up for Walker and get some good trades for him for a tight end and a good offensive linemen. The Seahawks have got to either refine or find some kind of tight who can rank with the best of them. Problem with Geno Smith is he's not finding the open are wide open receivers. If you look at most of the plays that he's thrown interceptions are a bad ball there was always a receiver open that he did not throw to Gino does not have that quick response to find that open receiver .

Most know Geno is a bridge qb till team can aquire the qb of team's dream. The thing Salk is missing about the red zone picks is the OL has been so bad that the D knows the Hawks will be passing due to poor OL run blocking.

Mahomes threw 11 picks... so he must be holding back the Chiefs. Seattle would be in the playoffs if even just the run defense had showed up a few weeks earlier, maybe against the Giants... and that's only one of the handful of issues that truly held back the team from reaching the playoffs.
@astronorthwet6363 күн бұрын
I think it’s not just Geno, but he makes his share of unforced errors. I’ve seen him force the ball when he should throw it away, most often on broken plays and scrambles. His interceptions are climbing and his TD to INT ratio is dropping. Would better blocking and a run game help? Sure, but every team but one or two have the same issues and their Qb’s don’t make as many bad throws.

The only thing Geno is holding back on the Seahawks currently is Sam Howell and thank God for that. To be fair it's Grubs first year in the NFL but it's insane to ask a QB to throw the ball 40 times a game with a bad Offensive line especially when he's been bad in the redzone all season. It's not a simple as just saying It's all Grubs fault. It's all the Oline fault. It's all Genos fault. This thing isn't going to be fixed just by changing one of these variables it needs to be changed on multiple fronts if they're going to get way better.

Vikings and Lions both have average quarterbacks (although I personally believe Geno is meaningfully better than Darnold and Goff) and they are fighting for first in the conference this weekend. One of them is probably going to a Superbowl this year. How good your qb is does not decide whether you go to the superbowl. Your team decides whether you go to the superbowl. What if Geno is the one that is Opt'ing out of runs plays in order to pass? same thing with the play action... he can't read the defense as well under center. Is Geno making that choice too? Having a mobile QB like Sam Howell would get the running yards up and take make the O line numbers look better. What were we worried about with Sam? He might throw too many INTs? Hmm..
