I have been getting a 35% TCA peel twice a year for 12 years and the results are remarkable. My Derm does arms, face and neck. At 73 no one can believe the texture of my skin. That in combo with daily Tretinoin and spf is a magical combo. Highly recommend.

I’ve done TCA chemical peels I’ve purchased from Platinum Skin Care found on KZbin for several years. Her videos explaining the process are extremely well done and thorough. I was nervous the first time. But after that it became routine and I did one a month, gradually increasing the strength as she explains. I’m 62 and not only did they improve the lines, elasticity, firmness and spots on my face, but also gave a glow that I never had in my face. Even at 30 and 40. I’m now 62. I’m in maintenance now and do them every two months. The only down side is a few days of peeling that isn’t pretty each time. But I usually schedule them so the peeling happens on the weekend and I’m good to go on Monday. But, you can not argue with the results.

Hi! I am Italian and I am recovering from a co2 laser. I have to say that I am extremely satisfied after 1 section, however it was very painful. I honestly didn't expect it to be so "serious" in terms of pain, redness and recovery time (after 8 days I am much better but still very red). And the itchiness!!! Omg... I don't know if I have the courage to have another section in the future, as my derm suggested.

I do TCA peels regularly (I counted and did at least 50 in 8/9 years). My derm built up the strength over time, and now I can do a 25% on my face with minimal downtime (in 3 max 4 days, I'm done, and I peel A LOT). The benefits are massive for me. My skin, in combination with tretinoin (which is used to prep for these peels), has completely changed. I found a photo of when I was 30, and my husband was in shock to realize that my skin is now 10 times better (and I'm 46): I have no wrinkles, like zero, no pigmentation anymore, no acne or pimples. I can finally afford to not use any foundation. The only difference in the approach is that I did a series of TCA peels during winter, spaced 30/40 days to get the max benefits, and then stopped for that year. Tomorrow, what a coincidence. I have the last one for this season (before summer) and can't wait to see the new skin! The other day my sister-in-law saw me after a few months, and the first thing she mentioned was, " You have the skin of a newborn! WTH??? How??"She is only one year older than me but never did any peel or used tretinoin, and she has so much hyperpigmentation, sagging, and wrinkles. It truly makes a difference, and actually, I was wondering what was your take on peels, and you're right: VERY UNDERRATED!

As an esthetician, I am a peel enthusiast! However, it does very much concern me to see that people are doing these types of peels at home. This should only be done by a trained and licensed professional. Estheticians can perform superficial peels; Dr's perform medium depth peels. (Depending on state, but generally). Please do not order peels online to do on yourself - you risk seriously damaging your skin and hyperpigmentation. A professional knows what to ask, how to evaluate the best treatment, and can choose the appropriate peel for you. Thank you for this video!

Superficial peel and even medium depth one can be done at home, one can get educated and there are a lot of people with medical education who an learn and do it as well. Deep ones and stronger medium strength ones should be done at home. But TCA 15-25% can totally be managed IF YOU DO A GOOD PREP. AHA peels are even easier.

I get 10% TCA peel done once a month or once every 2 months. People say I look 20 when I am 33. I use sunscreen, niacinamide serum during the day, tretinoin and vit c serum evening. My hyperpigmentation from acne scars are gone. I have had tca crosses done in the past to get rid of them. Sometimes I get lactic acid peels in replace of TCA. I have dark skin fitz. number 6. Its my fav. Use sunscreen everyday. I use sunscreen even if i dont go outside! That window light!

Also for darker skin tones, using anti inflammatory ingredients like allantoin, colloidal oat, alpha arbutin. Also avoiding heat, steam, chlorine, to help avoid post peel hyper pigmentation. I seal all the good ingredients with aquaphor during the post peel week, never peeling it just letting it peel on its own. And daily diluted vinegar cotton puff to prevent infection. ^_^

I work in a lab and accidentally splashed a drop of phenol on the top of my thigh. That spot was so sore while it healed I can't imagine having a deep peel!

Exactly, I wouldn't do a deep peel but light superficial peel seeing I am already using tretinoin. I think light peels over a period of time combined with a retinoid and others would be sufficient

Personally, I find chemical peels to be an excellent investment in my skincare routine. While I do recognize that in-office peels can come at a considerable expense as well as considerable more potent which would require expertise or one is likely to suffer third degree burns, I have discovered several affordable at-home options that deliver fantastic results. What's more, some companies have created peels with a lower strength, typically around two percent for salicylic acid and ten percent for Glycolic peel, that allow for more frequent usage, even on a daily or alternate-day basis according to the company themselves. This is a marked departure from the more potent peels, which require a more protracted interval of bi-weekly or monthly application, despite their concentration as high as thirty percent. For me these gentle yet effective peels into my routine has left my skin looking radiant, and healthy, all without breaking the bank.

@@LisaNix2 Currently, I'm using products from a company called "Bravuralondon," and they have a range of peels but I've been using - specifically Salicylic Acid, and Gycolic acid options. I had a conversation with one of their representatives a while back when they introduced their lower strength peels because I wasn't sure how to use it, and that was mainly because they discontinued the use of the thirty percent peels for each or their product range which was used monthly. Long story short she mentioned that these products could be used every other day by alternating between Salicylic and Gycolic acid peels. Hope that helps!

I just did a VI Precision Peel three days ago. I’m peeling now, the peeling started 48 hours after getting the peel, but my skin is already looking so much better! No makeup here I come. I have middle aged sensitive, oily skin with acne and melasma. I did a consult with a professional and they recommended this peel for me. I was very nervous but the esthetician was very good. I told her to be gentle with me and only do the minimum 3-4 passes. They can go up to eight passes she said. I would definitely say to schedule at least 5 days of down time after this peel. You can do makeup the first two days but days 3+ you definitely won’t want to put on makeup. I am a lady that doesn’t leave the house without makeup so I am definitely trying to hide inside for a while. They recommend no swimming, no working out, no sweating for two weeks after the peel. There are take home packets with the peel that I will use in maybe a month. They also give you a face wash, moisturizer and spf to take home to use. I didn’t use them because the ingredients in them are not for my skin type but definitely use a plain face wash, a plain moisturizer and a soothing spf. No actives. I hope this helps someone else that is nervous like me about trying a peel. They recommend that you do three peels, a month apart but that is too much for my skin. I think I will do this twice per year. And stick to my BR skincare and Retin A for maintenance. Also, I have tried lasers and didn’t like the results. I think the lasers made my melasma worse. Will stick with this peel from now on.

Oh, I also don't want to support companies that don't test on animals, which they don't.

Hi Dr. Dray, what’s better for improving the appearance of pores, and getting rid of blackheads? A peel or a hydrafacial (diamond glow)? In my last derm visit she recommended the hydrafacial but on my previous one she recommended a peel. I had made up my mind about getting a peel, then they gave me a different suggestion. They seem similar, it’s so confusing. But the prices are very different. Could you make a video addressing hydra facials if it’s not possible to answer here. Thanks!
