I own 2 Gibsons that I purchased from Peach Guitars, a 60’s Unburst & more recently a 335 figured 60’s cherry and I can confirm that they play incredible out of the case. They are set up beautifully. Excellent service, delighted with my purchases. When you’re paying serious money for an instrument, you need peace of mind and for what it’s worth, my experience with them has been 10/10 on both occasions. Credit where it’s due gentlemen 👏🏼

I have a 60s from the first batch 2019. It is my main guitar and it sounds great. I actually compared it on the spot with CSs when I bought it. The 60s holds up very well with other CS Gibsons.

I have both a 50s (2023) and a 60s (2022) Gibson USA Standard as well as a couple of recent Custom Shop Reissues (and have had several other Gibson USA LPs and CS RI LPs over the years) and the current Gibson USA Standards are the *real deal* and can hang right there with RIs. If you really just have to have historical accuracy (and the construction specs and finishes these have that differ from the USA models) then the RIs are the way to go. But if those build techniques/finishes are less important to you (or not worth an extra $3k-4k) then the USA Standards are a fantastic option that saves you money while still giving you a true professional grade, instrument… and the USA Standards are better today than they have been in decades. Also, I think it’s worth noting that most of those construction methods that are unique to the RIs either cannot be seen or are subtle enough that only a true Les Paul geek would spot them… and whether any of them (the unique RI construction methods) have any appreciable bearing on tone and playability is so hotly debated even within the LP community that it’s evident that any differences there may be are slight and, given the nature of the uniqueness of any given guitar, fall within the small margin of variance found between CS RIs and USA Standards… meaning any given guitar (from either camp) could be better than any other guitar (from either camp)… ie, it’s entirely possible that a given USA Standard is better than a given CS RI (and vice versa, of course). They are that close these days. IMO/IME YMMV WAFH DSTM

I bought a 50's back in 2022 and it's a real gem - especially the ones coming out during covid - Strangely- Remember all of these are pleked - Setup becomes minimal - And Sam you rock 🤘🏼

The tops on these look fantastic, I particularly like the fire burst! Also from what I can hear they also sound great. Would be interested to know specifics about the “improved build quality” that’s mentioned here. Given Gibson’s recent history, “improved build quality” in isolation just means it might not be the expensive piece of kindling that most of their recent offerings have been (The ones I’ve experienced anyway!), particularly given that rather hefty price point!

I think the elephant in the room is the tiny fretwire. The medium jumbo they use is closer to medium & once it’s been Plek’d. It’s like buying a 2 year old guitar. I spent £600 on a refret, new nut and pickups to bring my 2017 up to standard. I don’t get why big dealers like Peach aren’t talking about fretwire size more. Given how Fender use narrow tall & every major manufacturer offers a 6100/Jumbo fret option. I don’t get why Gibson can’t offer a choice in the 21st century. A pretty top is meaningless compared to the playing experience.

The top on that dirty lemon burst you is holding is certainly beautiful! Personally, I like either a nice flame top like these or an old school plain top. The in betweens with hints or specs of flame don't always look as appealing to me. To me!!

Gibson continues to produce really great tops and finishes on these guitars, but I'm glad I got my Standard '60s when I did, which was 2020. I paid $2500 for it then, and these newer ones with the AAA tops are going for $1000 more than that (Wildwood, etc.). Add in tax and shipping and you're looking at 4 grand for the guitar. Ouch.

Nice looking top on that particular one but hard to justify the price to be honest. I would save up a bit more and look for a secondhand custom shop as there is a huge difference in sound and playability when compared to US regular.

I have a 2023 LP Standard. It's a beautiful instrument. Very well crafted. The pickups, however, are pretty awful. Screechy, scratchy, like a bad version of a Filtertron. Very strange. I hate blaming the equipment. I've tried getting used to them. Finally, I'm over it. I'm swapping them out. I own multiple LPs. Never had an issue like this.

The “Gibson is too expensive” argument is nonsense. Find me another brand with USA made lineup that is substantially cheaper? Import models are cheaper because they’re made in countries where labour cost is low - arguably exploitative. If you want a guitar made in the US then it costs substantially more because the labour is paid a fair wage.

@@danstaificationsadly so but all the brands are going that way… not just Gibson and certainly not just in the guitar world! inflation and growing wood prices might be reasons… and of course the fact that people still buy stuff no matter the price :/

In 1960, a Les Paul Standard in Cherry Sunburst was $265.00 for the guitar and $42.50 for the case. In today's dollars, that equates to $3,237. The Les Pauls now are actually slightly cheaper now than they used to be. I know it's not cheap, but instruments are expensive to make.
