Is God different in the Old Testament than He is in the New Testament?

Some view God as a different kind of being in the New Testament rather than the Old. Is God kinder in the New Testament? Or is there something else there? Check out this clip from this past week's livestream, where Dallas talks about this.

Hey man, appreciate the encouragement. It can be hard reading through the old testament through a modern understanding of the world and what society is like in comparison to what we had during the time of Moses with the surrounding nations. I'm currently trying to read through Duteronomy and trying to get a better understanding of why things seem so harsh in dealing with sin and that causes me to go down rabbit holes that lead to more questions. I get very OCD about it and if u have any suggestions on where to look for resources, that would be a huge blessing. That and just prayers for wisdom in general going forward in this walk, thanks again and God bless.

Stay away from people that water it down into hyperbole, or worse, a mistake. Take it rather to prayer, because the issue runs much deeper in us to rebel at God's ways.

The only way God in the NT can be seen as different than the OT, is if we ignore alllll the talk of sin and judgement and Hell that the NT says!

can totally agree with that, but it also goes to back to my point. we have seasons in the world where people focus on one thing more than the other instead of having a total Biblical view of Christ.

Well, if you listen to the video, it's actually neither. It's simply that folks have focused one just own aspect of God more than others

There are times God seems MORE merciful in the OT. If people were to actually pay attention.

Kind of the point I was making. We go through seasons where some focus solely one aspect of who God is to the point that they forget the total biblical view of God
