Hey Veteran! I’ve been peppered with messages of people telling me about your video here, so kudos for the great work 🔥 Much respect for the job you’ve done here. You’ve gone into great detail and evidently taken time and care to produce a pretty balanced account of the techniques in your video so thanks for sharing your perspective. I’m glad you resonate with the style. As I mentioned to you in our earlier messages, developing the Rope Rage skill set is something I’ve really given myself over to and will continue to do so to expand it. I accepted a long time ago that it’s different, which means that not everyone will get it, but it’s always a great feeling when people do and show love for it. Keep doing what you’re doing also! You obviously put time in to provide useful value for your audience and that is something to be immensely proud of. Happy new year, and wishing you the best with your training always 👊🏽 -Glen

As I've mentioned in an earlier comment, Glenn is my favorite jump roper in terms of breadth of combining footwork and rope handling skills and just sheer athleticism with his rope! It is because of him that I spent time learning one-arm rope work, and the importance of moving around your space when jumping. He has so many good tips for the mechanics of jumping that I've never seen anyone else bring up anywhere, and it's just inspiring to watch him do his boxer-inspired workouts and make it look so effortless. Not long before he [unfortunately] stopped putting out videos earlier this year, he was doing tutorials on using nunchucks and explaining how they helped his rope work. I almost bought a pair (noting that they have foam-covered nunchucks available so I wouldn't actually kill myself when trying to learn with them) after watching a couple of his videos. Thanks for giving him a shout-out - I hope he starts posting videos again, but if not, I hope it's because he's doing something even more awesome that is taking up all his time. I don't blame anyone for taking a break from social media - it can be draining and a huge time sink, but I'll always be grateful and indebted to him for the content he has created and how it has influenced and helped me as a jump roper.

@@JumpRopeVeteran Oh, cool! I didn't know I was one of the people that inspired your video 🙂 . As much as I love watching and trying some of the freestyle tricks that are the feature of other YT channels, most are just out of my league, I feel (I watch Mira do her Tricky Tuesday tricks, and I have yet to successfully do even one of them, I think...I just don't have that degree of gross motor coordination), but Glen's focus on what I'd describe as "expanded basics" are right in my wheelhouse. I still keep practicing some of the more basic tricks, like toads and kreugers, but still focus on improving things like running crossovers, expanding footwork while jumping backwards, and now, finally, getting some successful double-unders. My form isn't great, but I know that will improve with time and practice. I wish you the best for 2021, and it's great to hear how you are also pushing out your repertoire. I also enjoy the jump rope reviews 👍🏻!

Glen has numchucks training. I bought the RX Smartgear rope because Glen uses it. Such a hard rope to freestyle. I've gone down twice doing Backwards DUs after hitting myself in the nuts. Hey Jump Vet I just started following you recently. I watched your video on the Top 5 ropes. I started to do some research on the punk rope you recommended. I noticed that the makers of the Punk rope have wrist trainer ropes. I wanted to know your thoughts on wrist trainers and if you think they would be beneficial.
@JumpRopeVeteran3 жыл бұрын
Michael, thanks for the follow and support! Wrist trainers are good if you're having a difficult time controlling the rope and you're constantly tripping over the rope. The wrist trainers remove the possibility of tripping, which will allow you to focus on getting your wrist mechanics down. If you're already able to do 100 consecutive jumps without tripping, it may be best to forgo the wrist trainer and stick with a regular rope. 💪🏾➰✅

Glen is a phenomenal and crazy rope jumper, and should really be up there with the likes of Rush Athletics in terms of popularity and expanding his brand. No, you're the most underrated rope jumper haha. I only just found your channel, but I've seen channels like yours ... veterans of the craft who share their no-bullshit advice based on experience but get no traction on youtube because you're missing the flashy thumbnails and clickbait titles. A couple of tips if you decide you want to sacrifice some of your natural style in order to get more traction: Shorter, more clickbait titles with more buzzwords (keep it honest) Make a flashy thumbnail even if you think it's corny, idk take inspiration from thumbnails that get crazy views Most importantly: shorter videos. People click more on shorter videos, and youtube pushes shorter videos more because they get more clicks. 10 minutes and 15 minutes is the magic number. Your most viewed videos are shorter than your usual 20 min+ videos I hate to see a great channel like yours be so underrated based on these superficial things, but it is what it is.

I really appreciate you taking the time to give me honest feedback. I also appreciate your kind words of affirmation. Thank you. You're right about the video length. Since then, I've focused on making videos between five and 15 minutes long and I've been producing a lot more KZbin Shorts. You're spon on with that feedback. I do need to work on titles as well. I'm glad that thoughtful, respectful people like you are finding my channel.
