HEDI BETTER NOT LEAVE!! I got into Celine because of him and his rocking designs!

His designs are so good❤️

I hope he stays. His esthetics is so different than anyone else’s. It took me some time to appreciate his esthetics honestly. Now I can’t imagine Celine being different.

Yup, Hedi has refined it to be one of the sharpest brands right now. If he goes, I’m not sure LVMH will be able to Vaccarello a way forward as Kering did for Saint Laurent. Let’s all remember that Celine is basically Hedi Slimane the brand. The scents like Black Tie are all very Hedi. I don’t see him walking away from all this to what? Retool Chanel’s No.5? Doubt it. But if history proves anything, if LVMH doesn’t give him what he wants then he’s likely to leave, just like YSL

Yeah I'm exactly with you. It wasn't really until the third show I understood his vision (and liked it) but when i did I was hooked.

Once you're in the LVMH world they rarely let you go if you haven't completely shit the bed. Phoebe after Celine was given her own brand at LVMH. Marc Jacobs the same after he left LV. Kim Jones went to Dior after LV. If Hedi leaves I reckon a second stint at Dior Men's. Or *whisper it* the much anticipated HEDI SLIMANE, PARIS the fashion world has waited for, with him given complete control and a boat load of start up investment capital from Daddy Arnault.

Also find it interesting that all the now “big names” mentioned in that tweet were all placed as relative unknowns on design teams (with the exception of Maria but was the case at Valentino at least) which wasn’t the case with Hedi and Celine of course but interesting to take a look at the ROI of a big name creative director vs someone who has been at the brand etc but Michele’s appointment cause a big wave of these “cheaper” “unknown” appointments at the time that mostly did pretty well, will be interesting to see what the trend will be now since there have been so many shakeups recently

I feel like Celine could be for him like Chanel was for KL and he should make it of 'his own' forever

I felt the same way. He is doing his own thing and it is clearly working. Doesn't make sense.

Something I haven’t seen discussed that I am really interested in is these brands either starting or rebranding their beauty in the direction of a certain creative director only to have them leave soon after. Will be particularly interested in this case as the beauty hasn’t launched with the exception of fragrance of course but happened at Gucci and at Burberry and have not yet seen what the resolution is going to be there (at least Gucci’s logo didn’t change just the vibe but Burberry had JUST relaunched beauty when Tisci left)

When brands change CD's quickly, it makes me not want to invest in their products. (I'm actually a CD myself in another industry) but the problem for me is when I invest in a luxury bag I prefer for it to be a classic style that doesn't go out of production. The way brands like Celine have been rotating their collections and not keeping their core classic styles in production (they discontinued the classic box which was really stupid), to me this devalues the brand and it becomes more seasonal or like fast fashion. I wouldn't buy a Triomphe bag (and I just did buy one in Paris) if I thought they would be discontinued in 2 seasons when another CD overhauls the brand's core DNA yet again. For example, brands like Hermes and Chanel will probably always keep their core classics and that keeps the value of those bags going!

Hi Mary. I guess there is no smoke without fire so this speculation about Heidi’s departure from Celine probably has some truth in it. He doesn’t seem to stay anywhere for long does he? I like what he’s doing for Celine now and I was looking forward to the A/W 24 leather goods. Lately we seem to just get used to a designer and their direction for a brand and then it’s all change again. Can the consumer remain loyal to a ‘look’ if a brand evolves faster and faster with each new captain at the helm? Keep up the investigating on this for us, I’ll be intrigued to know where this story goes - have a fab day 🥰

Yes considering BOF has now done 2 stories on the Hedi/Celine rumours. Especially since there are bigger new stories going on right now, the Q1 numbers at Kerring and Gucci's revenue. Makes me wonder...

The rumour about what Hedi will do next is that he's in talks with Chanel about starting a Homme line
@DanielleReuther7 ай бұрын
Yea I was told on good authority that the reason between the long period of time between his tenure at ysl and celine was because he was on contract to take over for Karl if he died but then he just never died and the contract expired so he moved on, so this new rumour tracks

Ohhh I could see that. I do wonder if Phoebe Philo's own label is a success for LVMH and it's repeated. Unlike other designer eponymous labels which typically become more accessible versions of luxe houses (Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld) they see success in an establishing a new contemporary luxury house.
@teslynbronson26257 ай бұрын
I wonder if the Phoebe Philo project is working at LVMH and if it is, maybe he gets his own brand. I agree few people buy Celine bc of the brand and it’s more about the designer.

Yes!!! I think Hedi has such a strong aesthetic it doesn’t need to be tied to a house. Thank you for watching

While watching the video, I couldn't help but wonder if Slimane or his team were the anonymous sources. Granted, I spent some time in political PR, so I know some tricks. But sometimes, during salary negotiations, it could tip the scales when the media speculates about your impact on a brand should you leave. In addition, it could make the case that people want Slimane to have his own line. Where is space in the market for California, Parisian-tinged, rocker, edgy cool? I would love Slimane to have his own line. But I fear it would be priced at the same level as Phoebe Philo and The Row.

Great points! It does seem so out of the blue and there seems to be some kind of hidden motivation. Thank you for sharing your perspective Kerra

Hedi is not a designer he is originally a photographer. He brings a specific mood and aesthetic which resonate with ppl. The clothing, the cuts, the bags, the marketing are done, perfectly though, by LVMH teams. That's why they say Celine could work without him. Esp since his style can start to look repetitive over the seasons: to me, Hedi is a good sprinter but not a good long distance runner.

I feel menswear he did for SLP is his best work imho, celine menswear is so tacky idk how else to put it but it lacks the timelessness SLP has - Celine will never age like Celiné under Pheobe did.

I hope Hedi stays at Celine, I really like the new direction he took with the brand. Cate Holstein is a very good choice! I personally don’t really know who I’d want to replace Hedi. I just really like Anthony Vaccarello and Heidi’s design style with Celine and Saint Laurent.
