I just heard about this today through the Heroscapers discord notifcation, and holy crap it seems like Heroscape is legit coming back. It appears they have to iron out business details to retain the rights, but it seems like they're all in on launching multiple lines for Heroscape. Super excited

So basically if they are partnering with local game stores that means they should be sending out free demo at those locations. Usually a quick 15 min tutorial to give new player a taste of game mechanics to get them hooked.

I just hope for three things out of this. 1. It goes through and is good. (Not perfect but good enough to survive at least a few years.) 2. GIVE US SOME COMMON SQUADS! 3. For them to go easy on the furry units, PLEASE tone it down with the furries.

To me the great thing about Heroscape was that it was a cheap toy alternative to expensive war games. Minis were already painted, you could pick up expansions while you were at the store, it was just very mass market friendly. In my opinion, no matter who gets the license, if they try to make Heroscape a game that caters to hobbyists instead of the mass market, then they are just making Heroscape another war game in an already full and expensive hobby market. If I want to spend hundreds of dollars on highly detailed miniatures that are going to need painted, I can just buy Warhammer. Give me something I can pick up at Walmart that has everything I need to play out of the box with my kids for a reasonable price and I’ll keep coming back to buy more, just as I did with the original Heroscape. Tell me I need to spend over $150 for a starter set of unpainted minis … you instantly lose my interest.
