Joe! I love your videos thank you. 50 million videos ago you mentioned you wish you would have just gone with a PDM instead of whatever wiring chaos you chose for your Porsche whatever LS swap. For some reason that statement resonated. Especially when I saw the chaos that is my '70 Opal GT spaghetti. Any chance you have a video or maybe would be willing to make a video on how a PDM would have been a better option and how you would have going about putting it in your Porsche. 😅 Or I can send you an 1970 Opel GT and you can use it to make a video :-)

Every product on earth has trade offs and ECUs are no different. You just need to decide what package of trade offs best suits your application imo. One of the upsides to having so many ECUs to choose from imo is that you can fine tune what ECU you need from a wider range of options if you know how to research it. Great content ! I look forward to seeing you fabricate someday that would be rad to see you make a turbo kit for the Porsche 🤘

The newer Haltech Rebel LS is just now on the market but its not setup yet for auto transmissions. It looks like the best choice right now for LS swap stick cars, it does stuff like flat shift and rev match on downshift which Holley seems to have no interest in. You should put one in that porsche when you are done with the Holley.

I was chips in on a Holley Terminator but the newly released Haltech LS Rebel I think might be a better fit for me with regards to support since I live in Australia. As you said, there isn't a right or wrong answer - just what suits you and your situation best.

As someone who has been tuning mostly import stuff for over 10 years last year i helped a friend who has never used any kind of tuning solution put a terminator x on his mustang. This was a 96+ 4.6 2v car. Was not hard per say but it would not start. I was able to see it was having sync issues. The way its named to log raw crank and cam i struggled HARD to find. I finally did get holley on the phone and they talked me threw it. Then learned it was due to car not having a hall effect cam sensor. We got one set the air gap and all was well from then on. I wish 1 holley would have said this could be a issue as the tech on phone said its 50/50 if they need it. 2 what it was called to find the crank and cam i was not a fan of. These are things someone very used to holley would have found fast, i was able to figure it out from other tuning experience but the average person it may have been very difficult. Oh and holley come on.. better idle control guys. All ecu's suck in there own way. Sense i have done some more holley stuff and i honestly think its quite good overall for the average. Soon i will get the chance to do a car on haltech rebel so that will be fun. I have used haltech for a long time with the import stuff so i know my way around that, but the chance to head to head compare vs the holley will be cool for me as a 99% import tuner guy.

@@jedpratte this scenario could be said about any and every ecu really. They all have the stuff like that, where it’s not so easy to figure out unless you’re familiar with that particular ecu. And i was just on the phone with them yesterday discussing ways to make it better and said the same about the idle control haha
@jedpratte4 ай бұрын
@@JoeSimpsonAtTempest 100% someone who uses it a lot would have been able to figure that out faster then me, I was able to get the help i needed though from holley so in the end it all worked out.

Hey Joe, Do you have any plans or experience with the new TCU stuff out there? We have been experimenting with systems that control the BMW D.C.T. and ZF automatics. It has been less than a smooth process but when it finally comes together the results are awesome. T.T. LS/ Fueltech/ZF8HP70/HTG GCU. LS9/Motec/D.C.T./HTG GCU. There’s even options for the PDK.

I couldn't agree with you more Sir. I like to keep things as simple as possible. But it's sometimes not exactly possible if you're trying to accomplish a certain goal. Like 800 horsepower with twin turbos, and the such. Now maybe it's just me, but it seems like if you're going to build something like that "reliably", EFI is the ONLY way to go.

I loved motec, ,,, but I feel it's exactly like my wrist watch ⌚️ a 50$ gshock bought just about at every gas station world wide it keeps time just as good as my collection of rolex's the two major differences are my gmt yachtmaster & Daytona in today's market cost @15,000 each. But when left untouched for months both are not running usually or still running but not telling correct time ....but I cut my teeth on motec and watch Holly step in the game finally making a true standalone ecu with great tech support threw other consumers on web with that being said my favorite ecu for simplicity of use is Holly .I also cut my teeth came up in the performance industry in the tuners era I remember being the only guy in town that could rechip p28 or other Honda ecu vtec right into my import passion fell on the 12A&13B rotary back then motec was it as well as caltech,

People get different ideas and thoughts about videos they watch and IMO you explained "my intentions" very well and then right after that you explain "what's best for you" so??? 🤷♂ All said here>>> kzbin.info/www/bejne/joTWm4dpd5amnLs And just my 2-cents, as a tuner that has tunes most of the popular brands (from basic pump gas NA to 6-second methanol turbo Motorcycles) I prefer and suggest Holley EFI *more for the owners than myself* (especially if they are newbies) because 1: The software is very user friendly and 2: As Joe said in his other video as well, Holley has done everything I have wanted/needed (30+ HP and Dom on bikes so far) and that's partly because they're capable of doing some fairly "Advanced" things with the Advanced tables IE I have a Stutter Box Table in a 8.90 Index class bike (that literally just yesterday) made 3 runs that were all within 0.007 second of each other...
