There is a legend in that lagoon that women can swim from one side to the other, but if a man does so, he dies. there are men who tried and drowned that's why they forbid men to enter a lot. supposedly there is a woman who pulls them by the feet halfway
@nicoleandmico2 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, we had not heard about this legend! I guess it's a good thing Mico didn't want to go into the water 😁

Like the both of you, my husband and I weren’t sure what to expect when we went to Huacachina. It’s definitely a tourist town, but the sand buggy ride and sandboarding were amazing! Also terrifying🤣. The sunset was stunning. I’m glad we went! But OMG, the both of you are brave: I would have been scared to venture out so early in the morning because it’s pitch dark outside!
@nicoleandmico2 жыл бұрын
We totally agree! Those buggy rides are something else. It really was freaky to go out so early in the morning. It wasn't scary at first, but about 25 minutes up the sand dune we started to get a bit nervous! It sounds like you guys had an awesome time in Huacachina 😊

It is winter time in this part of the hemisphere; therefore fog is very common during most of the day. I think that to do the shots they wanted they must have come in the summer, which goes from December to March, approx. Cheers
@nicoleandmico2 жыл бұрын
Yes, we agree! It was fun to try it in winter time and learn that it is in fact a bad idea to try to get a clear sunrise shot 😆
@JonSmith-ov6oy2 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is the reason, Perú's coast is foggy like Silent Hill

The heavy agriculture in the Ica region dried up the Oasis, so now its kept alive artificially. But it was originally natural.

I’ve been debating hard if I wanted to squeeze Huacachina into my SA travels and I think you all caused me to check it off my list. It looks neat bc of the dunes but I feel like I’d be bored there on a solo trip
@explorinwithlaurin2 жыл бұрын
Okay YES walking up stand dunes is SO HARD! We tried in Jordan and I thought I’d never make it! Sorry that you got fog instead of a sunrise but glad some of the other things panned out! The buggies look so fun!

This was a great video! How did you all get to Huacachina? Do you also have the name of the boogy ride or tour you all did?
@nicoleandmico2 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed! We had such a great time there 😊 From Lima we took a bus to the city of Ica using the bus company PeruBus. The bus took 4 hours and cost about 40 soles per person. Once in Ica you can just get a short 10 minute taxi to Huacachina 🙂 Also we booked the boogy tour with "SandboardingPeru" It can be hard to find on the map but they have an instagram page under the same name and also a website with the same name. Let us know if you have any other questions 👍

Crazy drive, indeed, not for those with fainted heart like me😁
@nicoleandmico2 жыл бұрын
Haha it is a bit wild for sure! If you aren't into the drive, there is the option to just rent a board and sand board down the dunes that surround the oasis. The only trouble is then you have to walk back up the dune every time you go down!
@rodolfoamrodriguez08012 жыл бұрын
That photo they use to compare is from sunset, not sunrise. The sun does not rise through the dunes, it hides; we are in the pacific not in the atlantic
@nicoleandmico2 жыл бұрын
Hey there if you are far enough into a desert than you can be anywhere in the world and still see an sunrise over the dunes. We saw a cool camp ground while we were out on the buggy's. I bet they have amazing sunrise and sunsets over the dunes 😋

This looks quite different from when I went about 10 years ago. I arrived by Tuktuk from Ica and left after an hour because everybody at Huancaina seemed stoned and offered me drugs (US/American tourists, not natives).

There's lots of Natural Oasis on the Peruvian coast line, but as usually happens the most visited in the one closer to a big city. That big city is Ica and sadly the thirsty Ica left Huacachina almost dry. If you want to come back and see amazing beautiful natural Oasis near Ica, Paracas and Nazca.

Hi. Planning my trip to Peru. Do we have to do the sand buggy ride to get a view from the top or can we explore the sand area and go as high as we’d like?
@nicoleandmico Жыл бұрын
No need to get a sand buggy! You can go to the top of the big dunes surrounding the town no problem. Getting a buggy though does get you further out into the desert. Enjoy!

How is it you travel to an Oasis, not known whether it's man-made, badmouth the water (it's the Inca princess tears) and complain about fog? I cut your video short and give you zero points. Try researching culture pre-travel.
