The swarm has aged so well. Opening year it was very tame but now you can really feel that intensity especially on the turn over the water. Fun fact the swarm was the first wing coaster to include a wing over drop

What lets Thorpe Park down is the landscaping & upkeep. Most of the rides look like they’ve been dropped in a quarry.

Cool looking park. Is it just me, or are all their coasters really short? Hyperia looks great. That outer bank looks ridiculous. Just needs an extra 1k feet of track with two to three extra elements. Then it would be world-class.

Hyperia doesn't need anything to become "world class". It is world class already. Longer would make it even better but it's already one of the most exciting coaster experiences in the world. International vloggers have been flocking to review it, and being near universally blown away. What exactly does world class mean if not that?

Was there on Fright Night. 2 hrs+ wait for Hyperia, which is too long. Very steep initial drop. The 4-second inverted loop felt like my legs were slipping past the lap restraint - not pleasant. On balance, for sheer thrill and absence of wrenching twists, I think Stealth still takes it.

You quote flying fish opening in 2007. That is incorrect. It is the oldest ride in Thorpe park. Originally opening in 1983. Named space station zero. It was moved in 1990 next to the model village (now where stealth resides) and returned and renamed flying fish. It was removed from the park in 2004. But was brought back in 2007 next to depth charge. The walking dead originally was called x:\ no way out, themed as computer horror. Backwards in the dark. In 2013 the backwards cars were replaced with front facing. It was renamed x and themed to a nightclub. It didn’t become the walking dead until 2018. The rapids ride you went on was originally Thunder River. Opened in 1987. It’s the second oldest operating ride in the park.

The insane thing about Thorpe Park is that there are only two roller coasters I can ride with my 9-year-old son: Hyperia (the most intense coaster in the UK) and Flying Fish. My son has additional needs and it’s difficult to explain to him why he can go on Fēnix at Toverland but not The Swarm, Vogel Rok at Efteling but not The Walking Dead. Thorpe Park needs to address its height restrictions. But massive props to Mack Rides: my boy has been on Hyperia, Icon and The Ride to Happiness.

Though I’m glad he’s not tall enough for Colossus, I really don’t like that ride. Its only reason for existence was beating the (then) inversion record. It’s not thrilling, it’s a slog. Cant wait until the boy is tall enough for Stealth, however. The drop after the top hat is easily my favourite drop in the UK.
