We have ferry boats in the U.S. I’ve been on a few. Not as many since were a bigger country than Japan and would have to use different transportation to to the East or West. Unless you take a very long cruise down to Panama to get to Florida or New York! Lol… but most of the ferry boats here are day trips to a small island like in Washington state, or to Catalina Island, in California, I’ve also been on a ferry boat visiting in Toronto, Canada. I like the ferry boats in Washington, you can take your car to get around the islands. I hope you get the chance to try it. 😁

We did Osaka to Ehime in April 2018 but it was on a different older ferry. This new ferry is obviously much nicer with a good restaurant. We hired a Prius at Matsuyama and drove to Imabari where that world famous cycling route starts. We island hopped across to Honshu again visiting the Rabbit Island on the way. It is a really beautiful part of Japan.

But, the world's longest suspension bridge is now in Turkey....Currently, the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge in Turkey holds the record since opening to traffic in March 2022, with a span of 2,023 metres (6,637 ft). Since 1998, the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge in Japan previously held the record, with a span of 1,991 metres (6,532 ft).

That *is* kind of surprising, that there wasn’t an en suite bathroom, but otherwise an amazing “floating hotel”! I always have Google Maps open in the background to see where we are at (never having been to Japan), and I had never heard of the Seto Inland Sea! Amazingly complex topography, has Japan 🙂.

When I see the video’s from Japan and they’re showing their overnight trip on a ferry boat, it’s empty. I see maybe a couple of other people but it’s like no one ever uses the ferry boats because I never see a crowd of people in these boats. It’s like they have it all to themselves. 🤷🏻♀️
