Great presentation, Mark. Too often, decision making is driven by a 'cover your ass' mentality that seeks a safe, pre-validated solution. You did a wonderful job of illustrating why that approach actually increases the risk of less-than-ideal results.

How about, knowing why Amazon does it, and IF your needs can be met that way, then doing it. No other company in history is like Amazon, so their needs may be somewhat unique.
