Much appreciated, while i keep wanting to cut to the chase of what seems to be only a single rational outcome. I agree! But I also see we may consider social selfID for name, age, sex, and race, which may also have legal identities that can defend the selfIDs if we’re challenged and truthful. But socially we might not challenge them. Like actresses are notorious for advancing false ages, younger than reality, because of a steep deprecation curve past age 40 or whatever. We might not judge her badly for the deception IF she can pull it off, if she can get plastic surgery to reasonably pass as the younger age. Similarly kids before puberty often can pass as either sex if dressed and groomed to standards of that sex. And kids with imaginations and ideations may assert a public gender that doesn’t match their privates. Conservative parents might suppress this gender play while now foolish liberals are training themselves to see gender expression as the sign of “gender identity” rather than reinforcing sex reality. And we know this is more often young boys, and they probably are more sensitive and benefit by liberal exploration of behavior but not confusion over pronouns. Race or ethnicity are both fuzzy, but we can consider. If Tarzan is raised by apes, is he an ethnic ape? If Rachel was raised by black adoptive parents would she have status to claim blackness? But more reason to minimize ethnic identities except to explain different cultural upbringings. But if black or brown are physical traits, regardless of up bringing, what is the commonality unless stereotype assumptions by strangers. Separating sex (male, female) from gender expression (masculine, feminine) is useful, while childbirth might be both masculine and feminine, but only possible for females. We accept “gender expression” often exists to widen differences between sexed, and social customs of facial hair (only males) while longer hair is merely a female stereotype preference. Androgeny seems the correct middle ground for “play”, and partially true for young children or elderly with lower sex hormones. But some males and females can present more gender neutral or outside sex cultural standards. So there is a degree selfID social sex can be more ambiguous while sex itself is a private fact that may be publicly unclear. And we see in fiction like Mulan, a daughter stealth playing the role of son to protect her father. So not an ordinary “man”, but she compensates with skills within her (hidden) sexed body. In the US conscription only exists for biological males, so trans identified males can’t identify out of their sex. M*A*S*H shows Klinger as a cross dressing man who fails to escape the draft, but allowed to wear dresses, still wants to be seen as crazy, not a real woman. Transgenderism co-opting woman as “anyone who calls them self a woman” is intractable and also sidesteps the passability issue. Instead they redirect their failure to pass to helping promote “wrong puberty” seeing a chance for more happy passing for these boys. Very unethical experiment we can predict failure from the start since sex change is impossible. Eunuchs are castrated males, not females. But minor attracted men may have legal “fresh meat” for adults with boy bodies. Real? Opportunity knocks. Crap I hate all of this. Stop medicalizing kids! “Trans women” are still a category of men. Stealth men in female bathrooms should be illegal, but if some do it, don’t brag! You can try to stealth date, but you’d better have an escape plan if your date gets angry. Lying is bad, but do it if you have to. And avoid all risks that will expose your selfID. And if you don’t fully pass, expect to be called out. Misgendering is your lies. Stop lying!

Should transmen (female to male) use the women's room complete with beard? BTW more natal females today are transitioning so stop with the narrative. Do you think gays misuse their body parts as I can cite a paper from 40 years ago that made that claim? What if someone took cross hormones, lived as female, yet kept their license male, and avoided exclusive women's spaces? Is that lying? Is any plastic surgery lying on it's face (literally) about one's age?

If it is MORALLY wrong-a statement of absolutes-for a man to claim to be a woman, should men making such a claim be punished? Alternatively, is your thesis an ethical one rather than a moral one? I suppose I am struggling with morality versus ethics here.

in the paper version i say no to blame and punishment, because i think the main problem is the social enabling of his claims, and so the upshot is ending practices like sex self-identification. i don't make an ethics/morals distinction.
