This song was off their second album Fly by Night which was the first album after Neil Peart joined the band. The guys were 22 to 23 here. Geddy did wear glasses later on. This song is about when Neil went to England to try to get his career going when he was 18. Nothing came to fruition there so he came back to Canada. Not long after he was asked to audition for Rush and the rest as they say is history. Nice to see you guys coming back to Rush. ❤

Neil, wrote the Fly By Night song about his trip with his family to England trying to find a band to play in. Rush first Big hit was 2112. 1976. Working Man was the first song played in the Radio May 24th, 1974. From their first album written by Geddy, Alex and John Rutsey. Rush original drummer.

Great to see you guys back on the RUSH train. This was their first so-called hit. This was the first album Neil was on...1975. It's a very catchy riff and really good song. Please check out Circumstances off the 1978 album Hemispheres

🤣🤣I love Rush, and I love this song, and I love Geddy Lee's voice, but every time I hear this song, his voice reminds me of the SINGING BUSH SCENE in the THREE AMIGOS movie.😂😂

This was NOT their first big hit, as suggested by a few people below but it no doubt was a hit. Rush "broke out" in 1974 with the song "Working Man" from their first album, before Neil Peart joined the band. This video was likely around 1975, and the guys hadn't made any real money yet, therefore Neil would not have had the funds to construct one of his monster kits with all of the (literal) bells and whistles, and it would be a couple of more albums before Geddy would add his mountain of keyboards.

It thrills me to no end to see such young people love my favorite and often overlooked band!!! I love their early music as much as the last albums!!! And yes, Geddy does wear glasses 🤓 🔥🥰💐🌷🌹🌸🌺💜💕❤️💗

Neil probably saw Carmine Appice doing that drumstick twirl, when he was young. Look up the bands Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, and Beck, Bogert & Appice, Carmine was drummer for each of them, and it's pretty certain Neil was familiar with them all.
@dantesinfernopurgatory78268 ай бұрын
Actually the drumstick twirl, Neil's facial expressions and drumming mannerisms at that time was from his main influence, Keith Moon.

Thanks for getting Young Rush on the channel. I really like this one. Great reaction. Neil's kit was small at this stage because he had just joined the band, and they did not have much money back then.

Rush were so musical. The instruments were played well, were interesting and were spatial. There was never any attempt to blend things into mush. They were superb musicians.

🤔 After I saw them open for Kiss, my 1st Rush 45's were New World Man, Lime Light, Free Will, Fly By Night, Subdivisions, The Spirit of Radio & Tom Sawyer! Those were JHS days! And yes, 🤓 he does wear Glasses. 🥰🐰

Geddy usually wears shades on stage. He’s a Howard Stern look a like. I’ve seen him wear regular glasses in interviews.

This is such a favorite among the fandom and yet the band stopped playing it by the early 80s I think. I don't remember ever seeing them play at live and I've seen them a dozen times or so, I think Geddy Lee actually was just done with the song and to their credit..... just milk the hits for as much as they can, when they were tired of it.... they retired it. They didn't even play it on their farewell tour of our 40 so there you go Rush once again being quite unique
