This is super neat. No ego, just sharing and collaborating with real masters. And with a boxer who is near the absolute top of the game! This is awesome.

@Max Payne do you mean in real life or during a professional fight. Because those are very different
Wonderboy Thompson and Lyota Machina were demonstrating their blitz punching and it seems to start off the same, a rapid relaxed forward movement that end in relaxed rapid attack
I love these. Murata sensei is such a lovely person, and Naka sensei's technique is very interesting. I hope Murata sensei can learn this technique. Would be great to see him use this in a match.

I came here only for Murata, I am a devoted boxing fan from Kazakhstan. Hello Japan🖐️
I was an amateur boxer as a teenager and am a boxing coach. I began my karate journey at the age of 40. Boxing is a sport that is more effective for kumite and bouts with rules. Karate is a lethal self defense art that attacks the eyes, throat, groin and everything else. You can not practice this with an opponent at full power. That is what kata is for. Karate for life!
@NYKgjl103 жыл бұрын
Been doing Kyokushin Karate for over a decade and recently started training in Boxing at a sports club since earlier this year and both arts are quite similar to one another which I find it interesting, but I agree on your assessment on Boxing and Karate. Even prior to study Boxing, I 've been watching the sport since my pre teens. Age is just a number and I'm about to be 40 soon. We must keep training and continue to move forward!!

That Kyo movement is a straight line trajectory. The jabs Sensei did before the Kyo was a triangular line. What a way to trick the opponent's perception.

It doesnt matter. The trick is, that when a person is moving in a relaxed way... its harder for the brains visual center to detect that movement, until its too late. There are two visual processing centers of the brain. One is for advanced color and image sensing... the other is gross movement, which came from a very Primal state of our early development. There is also a Subconscious mind effect.. where the brain is basically "Listening" for the cues on how and when to react. The conscious mind cant react fast enough for close range strikes, as a handstrike can move as fast 32 feet per second. But as the OPs sub.c mind senses hip turning, stepping, shoulder movements, and even Facial expression...etc... it send the trained response into action. When the OP is moving in a non-standard, non-threatening way (no as fast, nor tense).. then its confused, and doesnt send that response defensive response out. Furthermore... because the OP can not easily detect the Vector of the strike... and because you are not fully invested into a single vector... you can also alter your vector as its traveling, without them realizing it.. and sneaking right by their poor / weak.. attempt to defend. There are other factors, such as it being harder for to see attacks that come from a lower gate, directly up to the upper gate. And in the case of one of Bruce Lees demos, Lee got the OP to react to a "Just Out of range" strike (feint), and quickly pulled back + stepped in further, with a 2nd reaching strike, around their already late.. and non connected attempt to block the initial phantom strike.

This concept reminds me of striking from the void in Musashis Five Rings.

I adapt boxing punches especially the cross and upper cut. The karate straight punch is good to hit the torso and better to strike the face with cross. It is stronger and harder. these punches are laced with Karate extended middle knuckle(naka daka ken) and ippon ken( extended fore knuckle); and I called these punches "weaponized" fist.
It's amazing. It is not about fake movion but totally mentally and human perception. I recall what in the demon slayer, Yoriichi attacks like a tree with no aggression and emotion to the demon and thus the demon cannot sense his attack

Theres some more to it.. but thats the basic way it operates. Its not "Mystical", though... it many arts have often developed such things in mystical ways... and still reached the same results... even if they never fully understood the full physical or mental natures of how they operated.

@Max Payne The Monks (and other high level Combat martial artists) learned how to control their Breathing pace and depth, Heart Beat rate, and their Minds. Ive been in a real threatening situation... and I used the same type of methods, to calm my mind quickly... and to Stop my body from dumping Adrenalin into my bloodstream. I had myself calmed and relaxed, in less than 7 seconds of time. These skills can be found and developed within Self-Hypnosis / Guided Audio Meditation recordings. A few months of development, is often all it takes... BUT... many modern citizens are simply too Lazy... to even do that.

Really wonderful... the Kyo, Mu and Shizentai... is muscle memory and lot of practice also a part of it? Maybe that is why Kata is important?
@smbd884 ай бұрын
This is just my observation. "Kyo" is used to describe a non-telegraphed strike. If you notice with "jitsu", there was always another body movement that precedes the strike, like a jerk of the shoulders or in the boxer's case, the forward step before the jab. In "kyo", there was always no body movement preceding the strike. In boxing, it is called the "non-telegraphed punch". This is why the opponent cannot react to the strike in time to block it.

While as you say he is not some random guy in the gym, (he is an Olympic silver medallist and middleweight champ) he isn't at GGG's level either (guy have only 16 wins and 2 loses), or more accurate, he isn't at prepandemyc GGG's level. GGG's camp probably only looking at him as a test to check how GGG is since he is now 39 (closer to 40) and have more than a year of inactivity
