We started a CNC Etsy shop two years ago. Just broke our 100k sales mark. It’s been a fun journey. I’ll never go back to the Corp world.

I’ve mastered my mind. I believe I have all the elements for success. My business is fairly new, and so far I’ve made roughly $3,000 in the past 6 months, which I know isn’t a lot for 6 months, but it means I’m making progress.

I forgot to mention that, if you are innovative, the BEST time to start a business is during a really bad economy.

First of all let me say you inspired at most my transformation (or upgrade if you like) from IT expert and bunch of 1s and 0s into Geppeto :) So when weird noises are coming from our backyard .. I blame you. Art is a journey, an exploration of the soul that manifests on canvas. The time invested in creating each piece is a reflection of passion, dedication, and vision. However, I've come to realize that the value of this time can vary greatly between my own perception and that of potential buyers. You see, beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder. What might take hours to perfect might be perceived differently by someone else. This divergence in perception is what makes art so profoundly unique and personal. Therefore such a "making of" and tutorial videos are precious and important to bridge the gap between the artist's intent and the viewer's appreciation, creating a deeper connection and understanding of the value embedded in every hour spent on an art piece.

You can use a CNC side hustle to boost retirement savings, investing, acquiring cash for larger future purchases like a car or boat etc. It doesn't have to be a case of quitting & going all in (especially I'd think if the stuff you want to make is pretty niche). Just my $0.02 worth lol. Also Andy - at 2:10 you have a typo with the word success (think you wanted successful there).
@mccoyscreations4 ай бұрын
@1976Cordoba, I totally agree with you. That's my plan, side hustle for the next two years, and use it as a retirement boost when I pull the trigger on retirement at that time.

Thanks for this new video. I'm wondering which machine is better for beginners. Shapeoko 5Pro or Onefinity Pro. Best regards Michael

Both are capable machines. I recommend the Shapeoko for beginners.

Most businesses lose money during the first year. Many businesses do not turn a profit during the first 5 years. Even if a business has been profitable for 10 to 20 years, changes in market conditions (labor cost, material cost, technology, decline in sales due to increase in pricing, etc.) can result in a business no longer being profitable. However, the number one reason for business failure is not having a thorough understanding of accounting principles and practices - especially cost accounting.

Cash flow, cash flow, cash flow…period. Overhead is a major killer, startup as inexpensively as possible…used furniture, borrowed equipment, rented equipment, only buy for what is producing income….multiple startups and many economic disasters and made it thru all of them, cash flow cash flow and hold back monies to maintain cash flow for those unexpected black swan events. That’s an old age but of wisdom I learned in my life’s journey! Be blessed!
@gaiustacitus42423 ай бұрын
@@henryoppermann134 I've seen hundreds of businesses fail that had great cash flow. Many were competitors who went into debt purchasing new equipment to keep up with the Joneses. The real problem was the owners didn't understand cost accounting and failed to properly forecast or to control costs. You are 100% correct about only buying those things necessary to grow the business and turn a profit.

The democratization of low-cost CNC machines has created an extremely crowded market. Newbies will be competing with veteran CNC operators starting their own businesses. The most successful people will bring a multitude of ancillary skills to their business.
@catsheep864 ай бұрын
Question: do you run your CNC machines directly from the outlet or through a UPS? Any benefit to either option?
@AndyBirdBuilds4 ай бұрын
I've done both.
@exmotech4 ай бұрын
The problem is always the beginning, when you want to transition from one thing you do to the other and simply have two jobs at the same time. I am trying to expand my CNC possibilities (have the shapeoko 5pro) but my rent is $6K, food around $1.5K, other payments another $1K. Not so easy to make $9K per month right away in order to break even at least.

@@AndyBirdBuilds Thanks, I think it’s awesome if someone can make a living or supplement income from KZbin.
