It looked like Ivanchuk wanted to finish these games as soon as possible, especially today. He was blitzing moves worsening his position when he had more than an hour on the clock, this match has been the biggest disappointment so far of the World Cup, but at least we get Gukesh vs Magnus which should be fire.

@@Ayzev I don't really know what's up with him but it feels to me like he doesn't like something about the atmosphere of the play in general. He said in an interview before his match with Magnus that he "hopes it will be interesting", maybe it was just a statement for the camera that didn't mean anything, but maybe there was something to it. Maybe he doesn't like the overly pragmatic, competitive approach to play that blocks the path to more interesting games. Or maybe it's something else entirely.

Gary was 2800 for a total of 153 months (he crossed over and back then below 2800 two times before finally getting in again and staying in 2800 until his retirement.) Magnus has been 2800+ ever since he first reached it and he has been 2800+ for total and consecutive 164 months and counting. So yes not only Magnus has achieved the highest rating of any player ever but he also has the highest rating for the longest period and consecutively too as well.

@onenewworldmonkey Жыл бұрын
@@roberthansen5727 Interesting. I could be very wrong but it seems that few seem to factor the value of a piece according to its position. I wonder what a computer would say about the move. Magnus just wanted to trade down and by initiating an exchange on Vasyl's terms, one that he didn't see, seems to have value, too. Add that value to the threat and forced moves I think adds also. The sum of those and change of positions are the compensation. Thanks for the reply.

Too little material on the board and the position is not complicated, just a bishop each and a few pawns and also Chuky is down a pawn as well, so yes he has no chance to win unless Magnus blunders which would not happen in such a simple postion. and when I say simple, I mean simple for GM's, of course for the average players like us we would still find 100 ways to blunder the game there.
