This message challenged me and convicted me of mocking the language of the spirit. What a gift, we have been given. This opened my eyes to view it afresh. Thank you so much Pastor Preston. May God keep and bless you and your family.

Thank you for this message! I grew up in a denomination that didn’t understand praying in tongues and because of that I never understood it. Knowledge really is power. I have been asking the Holy Spirit for this gift and I let him take full control over my tongue today. It was confusing but beautiful. I am so excited to start this journey of praying on another level to my Father. This Holy Spirit series has really touched me.

I’m so grateful for your obedience; allowing Holy Spirit to continue to use you to serve and speak to so many like myself. I pray He continues to do so. I pray GOD continues to bless you, your family, your loved ones and the entire Pillar Church Family!

Thank you, and Thank the Holy Spirit for sending me to this episode. A few months ago ( end of September) I was used by the Holy Spirit and spoke very powerfully to a young girl at a conference ( who was pregnant) and became Saved that very hour, and I Praise GOD for this event and experience! Since then my mouth has been shut down in speaking in tongues even in my own prayers. There are times when I sense it coming up, but it will not come out. Like my mouth is wired shut. I feel it is a spiritual attack, but I do not know how to get past it. I feel I am warring and don't know how to proceed. Any guidance would be helpful. I don't get this sort of teaching from our church- while it is Spirit filled and led. Thank you Pastor Preston. 🙏

THANK YOU PRESTON! I had an encounter with the Holy Spirit one morning praying. I was praying by myself but lost some words and suddenly a language that I never spoke before came and every time I tried to speak English the heavenly language came more rapid and louder. I cried because I knew it was the Holy Spirit ! It was an encounter I will never forget. It was gift I did not desire but have since welcomed it into my daily prayer life.

I used to have a lot of opinions around praying in a heavenly language. But when I yielded my opinions and my tongue to the Spirit a few years ago, it was transformational. What happened in my heart and my mind and how it truly strengthened me and awakened other giftings and strengths within me is undeniable.

It is sad... because people who are able to speak in tongues get demonized by those who don't -- And usually they're Christians of the same faith, and it hurts to be attacked by those who do not understand. I know you may feel hurt if you feel like The Holy Spirit hasn't given you the gift, but criticizing fellow Christians will NOT edify ANYBODY EVER! There are other talents, gifts from God, not just tongues-- But for those who have a heavy heart because you are confused or scared about speaking in tongues, be assured that this is God, it is The Holy Spirit, do not cease to do it!!!!

There is absolutely nothing mysterious about Biblical "tongues" - and there is only *one* type - when referring to something spoken, they are nothing more than real, rational language(s); usually, but not always, unknown to those listening to them, but always known by the speaker(s) - it’s their native language (in some cases, it is a language the speaker has learned). _Nowhere_ in the Bible is modern tongues-speech advocated or evidenced. ‘Tongues’ (read, *‘languages’* ) - the divine gift, is the God/Holy Spirit given ability to effortlessly learn to speak and be understood through real-language barriers. It is not xenoglossy (as many people incorrectly assume), nor is it the self-created non-cognitive non-language utterance of what certain Christian denominations are producing today (modern tongues-speech).

Why would you ask Alejandro permission to pray for him when you’re being led by the spirit? I don’t agree with this statement. The only permission you need is God’s and he already gave it to you by giving you full access to the Holy Spirit.

It shows respect for him. Not saying everyone has to have that as a rule. We do at our church out of respect for people who may have different perspectives on Scripture.

It is good wisdom to do simple teaching if it is someone new so that if they are not acquainted with tongues they are put at ease when it happens.
@shahnbarse58187 ай бұрын
My problem with the claim of speaking in tongues is that scripture clearly states that they should be interpreted. This means that it can be understood. There is no scriptural evidence for a language coming out of you that you can’t understand. At that point it is just babble speech.
@shahnbarse58187 ай бұрын
I want to clarify that I’m not a cessationist. I also still love Preston and believe he has a lot of spiritual wisdom. This is just something that I believe hurts the church more than helps. Babble speech is just a placebo. I grew up in charismatic churches, so it’s not like I’m just an outsider speaking on something that I didn’t experience. Jesus only prayed in known language. When asked how to pray Jesus didn’t mention any sort of prayer language. Only a reach of interpretation of Paul’s words have people believing the lie that there is a secret language that we can’t understand.
@prestonmorrison40947 ай бұрын
Love your perspective. 1 Cor 14 covers both corporate use AND private use. Paul saying he would rather use words people understand in public, shows what he prefers in private. He also makes clear that a believer is personally strengthened when praying in tongues. LOVE the way you’re trying to approach the conversation. Also, Romans 8:26 covers the “babble”.
@shahnbarse58187 ай бұрын
I feel like we’re interpreting different things from the same scripture though. When I read Romans 8:26-27 I see “too deep for words” as meaning that it’s too great to describe. It doesn’t say “too deep for human words” so even if there were a language of heaven then shouldn’t it be too deep for those words as well? I’m also seeing explanation in 1 Corinthians 14:21 that shows that “tongues” is clearly speaking about the different languages of men.
@prestonmorrison40947 ай бұрын
Totally get where you’re coming from. I’m connecting what Paul is talking about in Ro 8:26 to what Paul refers to in 1 Cor 13:1.
@shahnbarse58187 ай бұрын
1 Corinthians 13:1 is the closest scripture to backing up the idea of a heavenly language. I would argue against that though. I would argue that Paul is just making a statement based on traditional cultural beliefs at that time. In the 1st century it was common belief that angels had their own languages just like humans did. For Paul to use the words “tongues of men and of angels” is simply covering all known languages, and not some sort of secret language. God is not the author of confusion. Why would He confuse us with a language that we can’t understand? The gift of tongues was actually the opposite. It was reversing the confusion of languages that happened at Babel. It was bringing understanding to something that was previously confused.
@darlingpatriot31337 ай бұрын
A lot of how he feels but lacking any scripture. KNOWN LANGUAGES not gibberish. There is nothing said about a heavenly language in the Bible. Pagans, Hindus, muslims and Satanist also speak in gibberish “tongues”
@prestonmorrison40947 ай бұрын
1 Corinthians 13:1 doesn’t count? 😂 It was never known languages after Pentecost even for the Apostle Paul…that’s why he referred to it as “praying without understanding”. Feels a little strong to put me in a camp with pagans and Satanists but I get where you’re coming from. 😂😂

@@prestonmorrison4094 1 Corinthians 13:1 Paul is writing hyperbolically. This current day church tongues phenomenon is relatively new starting in 1906 with Azusa Street Revival, none of the early church fathers EVER wrote about it. @@prestonmorrison4094 1 corinthians 14:4 is a derogatory statement. The point is being made that prophecy is greater and edifies the body.
