I've owned GSX-R 600s, 750s, and 1000s, the 600 while a superb handling machine lacked power in low to mid range and the 1000 had all the power but so much you'd never get close to using it whereas the 750 was the goldilocks zone, power right through the range but not a terrifying amount, IMO it really was the perfect sports bike.
@budbud2509 Жыл бұрын
Yeah Ive had 4 GSX-R 750 each has been an improvement , Ive ridden the 600 and 1000 and u are right its the Goldilocks one. I miss mine but got a Triumph 765 Street Triple RS as it was a bit more upright and not so compact for aging !!
@yonniboy1 Жыл бұрын
@@budbud2509 Snap! they do say great minds think alike😊 I'm now in my 60s and much as I love sports bikes my old bones don't, I've also got the Street Triple RS, I got the new model (in cosmic yellow) at the end of march, it's my third 765 ST, the first was an R and I love the new RS, I can't believe how Triumph have improved what was already a great bike but somehow they've managed it, the handling is sharper but still absolutely planted and the shorter gearing has really pepped up the low and mid range acceleration, then adding Brembo stylema brakes is a step up from the great M40s, altogether a new benchmark in middleweights .
@budbud2509 Жыл бұрын
@@yonniboy1 Ha yes well I'm on my second 765 RS !! I was sorely tempted to go for the very latest( that would have been my 3rd) , and yes that Yellow one looks stunning, nice the Triumph is putting some colour back .The only thing that stopped me was the fact that I had only just done 1,000 miles and I fancied a summer being able to ride the thing fully rather than find myself running in another ST 765 !! I'm also getting on finding myself the wrong side of 70 ( how did that happen ? ) that was part of the reason I changed last time having only done 1200 miles on the first 765. My thoughts are when u get to my age u better ride exactly what u want to because common sense tells me I'm nearer the end of my riding career than the beginning !! Nice the weather has picked up !

I still have my 2016 GSXR750. Same bike as per your video. I went up 2 teeth on the rear and one down on the front sprockets and that gives plenty of bottom end torque. For a bike that was last updated in 2011, it would still give a number of modern middle weight bikes a run for their money. 28000 km and not one issue. You should look at Old versus new superbike challenge: 2005 Suzuki GSX-R1000 and 2020 Ducati Panigale V4 S on Revzilla. The 15 year old Suzuki was faster around the track then a brand new $28K Ducati. The hype around Suzuki sports bikes was true!
@laz1go286 Жыл бұрын
On the side note: At that particular track the Ducati couldn't excell its true power potential as it was a fairly short, and narrow track. The Suzuki on the other hand was geared down, and had major suspension work and brake service done to it by ARI. Whilst the Panigale was stock standard. It was very much presented in a way it gets the sensational unexpected outcome. And this is reflected in the views it has now.. None the less love the Gixxer, I own a K5, and the Inline4 is so much fun and easy to ride ✊

@@laz1go286 that is the thing of it all, watching motogp different bikes do better at different tracks. Ahh the legendary GSXR 750. One of my cousin's had one for a short time in 2008. He fell in love with it, for the 3 weeks he had it! He only broke an ankle, but the bike went to the happy track. I think it was just one of those bulletproof mid noughties bikes, that Suzuki were so good at making. I'm not sure I would have one myself, although I do love a four banger and this one was a peach. I'm more older skool than that in my taste in bikes, but there's no denying it's performance or handling though, and that sound...Quite possibly one of the best street oriented sports bikes ever produced. I completely agree on the cost. The number and variety of decent machines available today, for relatively little money, I think anyway, is a great way to start your biking career, folks are just spoiled for choice these days 👍

Its nearly telepathic in its braking and handling and the way it manages to just BARELY scare me but reassure me has me convinced ill never sell it. My close friend races professionally and in corners he told me "dude that thing is so much faster around corners than my race bike its insane" which is nuts considering i dont push it past 7/10th on the street. No ABS, No TCS. Just wheels, motor, brakes and me. Just how it should be. Im 6' 3" and find it much more pleasant than all other sportsbikes ergo wise! You can also lower the rear sets because they are OEM adjustable. Genius machine!

The beauty, if you want to call it that, of Suzuki sport bikes is that there have been minimal alterations since inception. That’s said, they’re still closest to the original raw feeling and the aftermarket is absolutely massive. At the same time, it’s made incredibly difficult to justify buying new (600, 750 in the states) when the last two decades are essentially all the same model. I feel that both the 600 and 750 are soon to be discontinued globally as the gsxr and gsxs 1000 models get all the updated goodies

I have a 2017 GSXR750, which is basically the same bike with just a different sprocket set when stock from the 2012, although mine has more extreme sprocket sizing. I am not hugely flexiable after breaking my back in the past, and also having a tad too much middle aged spread 😀so I have fitted some high bars to mine to make it more comfortable, also has a Yoshi can, which sounds glorious. It is my second Gixer 750, had a K7 in the past, also a very fun bike. They get to naughty speeds very very quickly. I think the brakes let it down these days, but it still stops well.... and I love that it doesn't have any ABS or TC etc. I keep thinking about chopping it in for something more modern... but then I ride it, and can reach the ground with both feet, it has near enough 150bhp, it is light, it handles great, and the yellow and black paint on mine looks amazing... and I think that there really isn't anything out there that is better enough to justify the extra cost.... although if Triumph do a lime green Speed Triple 1200RS, I might be tempted! 😀hahaha

I still think the 04-05's were the best looking. Not sure if this bike is "better" than those due to revisions or not as I haven't ridden one. I found my 04 GSXR600 to be 'wristy" back in 2004 and I'm 52 now. I'm not sure if I could deal with one of these or not nowadays. I ride a GSXS1000GT, but am looking for a second bike that's something really different. Naked bikes are a lot of craze, had a FZ10 and Z900RS, don't care for the windblast above 75mph, so not sure what to look at. Great review as usual!

Hi Andy. Nice vid but I’d argue that isn’t even the best Suzuki. For me the GSX R1000 K5 was probably the ultimate sports bike. I should buy one really before they rocket in price. Have a good weekend and try out a decent K5.

Not a Gixxer fan myself, but great to see you riding and reviewing some older bikes Mr Flyer. Any plans to get try and get on any proper old school classics? I suppose get access to them would be the main issue. Anyway enjoyed the review, thanks for sharing.
