Very well research video Kelvin. I think one thing investors need to think about is the experience. It is easy in hindsight to say that if you are underperforming for 10 years, you can endure (if you invest in the sp500) but you got to touch your heart if it is easy when the international and emerging markets are doing better during those period (and for the matter smaller US companies not in the sp500). those were the well performing ones during that lost decade. The key characteristics of a globally diversified portfolio is the humility that you do not know what is going to happen and it gives a more smoothed out experience.

Not sure if this is the best video to ask this question. But let’s try. I’m wondering if you can cover how Ireland deemed disposal tax play into investing long term in Irish domiciled sp500 etf?

Thank you for a very informative video, Kelvin. May I know whether the 4.73% of difference between the MSCI World index and S&P 500 Index is cumulative over 10 years? Also may I know how do you allocate your investments between World index & S&P500? 50:50? Thanks!

i am 65% U.S / 27% AUS / 3% SING / 5% EURO. i choose Aus as my second biggest as the AUD is relatively stable and the two etfs A200 and VLC (index trackers) pay about a 5% dividend (no auto withholding tax deduction). Note i am an ex Singapore PR - now live in Thailand.
@kjhui42837 күн бұрын
since there are no auto deduction of the withholding tax, do you have to file separately with ATO or IRAS yearly? and i understand the withholding tax for aus stocks are currently at 15%?

Hey Kelvin, not really related to S&P 500, but i'm planning to diversify my portfolio to invest in some S-REITS. But i'm not sure if I should purchase them through CDP accounts like DBS vickers or through custodian accounts like moomoo. Of course, i'd prefer to keep the stocks in my own name but the high commission fees are really offputting, esp when I plan to DCA frequently. Online suggestions are widely contrasting. Would you be able to advise/ make a video about this? Thanks!

Can You share with us some of the tools you are using to simulate investments in certain periods like output of investing in S&P from 1980s to 2000?

I still disagree the idea of the investing most in S&P 500. While you mentioned companies that are moving to the States, these are still small companies that even if they are added into S&P500 in the foreseeable future will be a very small % ( any Singapoee, Chinese companies, European as well). You will still miss out on big names such as the 5th biggest company Aramco, 9th biggest TSMC, 10th biggest, Novo 15th biggest etc. There are political or national reasons why they are based locally & will never move to the US. Will you ever expect companies such as SIA,DBS, Singtel, BHP, Samsung,Toyota, Nestle, Petronas etc to ever leave their country and list in the States? If not, then you will be missing out on their returns as well.
