Poland, Sweden and Ukraine could create an independent nuclear weapons deterrence together. Ukraine is already able to produce the delivery system and combined with Swedish know-how and financing we could create a modern nuclear weapons umbrella independent of EU and US bureaucracy.

Why stop with Sweden and Poland. Lets involve the Baltic states, Finland, Germany, Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and if Hungary gets Orban out of office, they can be in the club too.

@@Hachiii85 Victor Orban may rule for the rest of his life, like Xi Jin Ping in China; Germans are trouble-makers & liars; Czechs don't care; Moldova is a joke; Bulgarians & Romanians are broke; the Baltics don't even think about nukes; only Poland & Sweden can get serious (plus, Sweden has good submarines & planes)

A new military alliance of East-European and Nordic countries must be formed, with its own nuclear triad

There is only one answer: we need to ramp up, reopen closed mines and start paying 4 times more for regional nuclear scientists to be more independent.

I'm tired of having my nation's security dependant of who wins the elections overseas. Central and eastern european countries have enough resources and industrial capability to create and maintain its own nuclear defense. I don't see a single reason why shouldn't we have our own WMDs. NATO or not, any big conflict between east and west would be catastrophic for us anyway because we live in the buffer zone. Most of the fighting wouldn't happen in Berlin, Paris or Rome. It would happen here. In Prague, Bratislava, Warsaw, Wien.. you name it. I don't want to see our cities ruined like Bachmut. If there are nations that have a moral right to ultimate self defense, it's us. We live on the frontiers, we are the most endangered if WW3 breaks out.

Slovaks won't have any serious weapons: they can, just as well, leave NATO & the E.U., & become neutral like Switzerland, & keep voting Fico

Interesting idea - Polish F-35 certified to carry nuclear weapons located in Germany. Interesting for Germany, of course.

Yes. Also, in the Middle East. The idea that only some "chosen" nations should have nuclear weapons is outdated. If Iran and Saudi Arabia had nuclear weapons, the ME would probably be more peaceful.

Actually this NATO and Russia document is null and void, because no one asked thous countries, what they think. It's even amoral to think of such documents. No country or countries and even organizations has the right to decide the fate of other countries. Other countries has the full right to develop nuclear programmas and develop nuclear weapons, if they choose to do so.

If US and Russia do not obser some treaties, why should new member countries obser them? Did Russia or NATO asked thous other countries, if they would be okay, if there would be limitations placed on them in future?

As a Canadian I see Canada developing an A bomb once Trump takes the USA out of NATO. This will be needed to defend Canada from US aggression .

It's completely useless to invest largely in weapons you will never use. Specially a nation as Ukraine, which is already struggling with every coin they hold. Let stand that it will be enough nukes to make a serious stand against a superpower with one of the largest nuclear arsenal in the world. In time when they become part of NATO, than it might be a different subject. Expanding the nuclear arsenal in all NATO member states is better. Except for nations like Hungary and nations with a clear anti EU government or lower than 65% of their people supporting EU membership. So expansion of the arsenal to Sweden, Finland, Poland etc is fine, specially as a reaction on Russia handing nukes to Belarus.

The wests failure to act against Russian aggression in Europe is because Russia has invested in weapons it will never use.
