Well said on the Chloe Kelly situation. Something else sometimes missing in the women’s game is the willingness of commentators to come out and say exactly what they think about a player’s situation - too often they dance around the edges and hide behind generalities. Ian’s comments in particular are some of the most direct I’ve heard and I think that’s a good thing. There is a complete lack of transparency surrounding Kelly - some understandable, some not - and both she and fans need clarity. It is ridiculous that an England international with all her experience isn’t playing, when she would start in most other teams. She’s got so much to offer and she’s a brilliant penalty taker - sad to watch her be so casually tossed aside over the last few months. I’d love to see her move, even on a loan. Teams need to get over this nonsense of not letting someone go to a rival - it happens in the men’s game and there’s no reason why it can’t happen in the women’s too, especially if it aligns with the wishes of the player.

After everything Chloe Kelly has done and achieved, it’s quite horrible what City have done to her this season. I’d love her at Liverpool personally but I can see going back home to Arsenal who are the world’s richest women’s team alongside Barcelona. Playing at a sold out Emirates Stadium every week (Arsenal have the second biggest stadium in the women’s game globally), playing for a club that truly has a “one club” mentality, playing with 4 of her senior Lionesses teammates and a much better run women’s set up on / off the pitch.

The worst thing is, how she's been treated by the manager is probably putting doubt in other clubs minds. Considering how good she was last season they'll be thinking "well what is she like behind closed doors for them to drop her?" Really hope she gets a good team to get her ready for Switzerland

She really doesn’t take us to the next level, Only 3 players in the last couple of years has made us drastically better mariona, fox, rafa. Everyone else is squad depth. Game changers are needed to keep progressing.

@@threeeight5313 Fox is a good player, but I don't see what she has done to elevate her into that sort of status. McCabe is much more important, and I mean no disrespect to Fox in saying that. Arsenal's real strength (and perhaps Chelsea's) is the lack of weakness anywhere. City's strength is an illusion, they are very weak if you close off two or three players, and they are over-structured so can't problem-solve on the fly. Kelly would be another solid addition if the price is right... but only then.

@@Samouraii Surely most thinking observers see that City's real problem is Gareth Taylor. If Kelly is having conflict, she's maybe seen the issues that Taylor can't. City have signed so many Japanese players and very young players: players who will unquestioningly play the Taylor way no matter how predictable and unsuccessful it is. I bet Miedema is regretting her move.

@@lllordllloyd before fox we had to deal with Maritz every game who was a decent defender but limited. Fox has elevated the team in that position immensely. People seem to want CK for non football reasons.

Chloe Kelly to Brighton? She'd bring so much to that team and earlier in the season they appeared to be building something really good. A player of Chloe's ability could be just what they need to get them back on track. Failing that a possible move abroad... Spain, Germany or France?

This game between Arsenal and Chelsea is important for this season and more so for the next one in my view . Its a test for Renne as well in terms of her ability to set up the team to play incisive and progressive football against the league leaders on their home patch.

I think the MOST minutes Chloe Kelly will get will be in the NWSL. She would be the main winger banging out 90 minutes each week maybe at...seattle reign? Bay fc? Chicago stars?

Taylor is a poor manager at City. They should have won the WSL last year but basic failures in how City set up always seem to lead to unnecessary failures. City have had a stupid loss in them as long as Taylor has been there and he seems to fall out with players now and again whom others would love to have. City will not win the league while Taylor remains their boss.

I am looking forward to the Arsenal Chelsea game. In many ways Chelsea is a constant standard that you can expect but back when they met last in Oct 24 Arsenal was in a different space and it will be a good gauge to see how the gunners have changed and improved.

I would love Kelly to come to Brighton. If not a transfer, a loan would do. She'd bring so much to the team and get the minutes she needs to get her England spot. Selfishly, it would be so great for us. Kirby putting her away down the wing and Keets getting on the end of Kelly's crosses-can dreams come true? I love this pod, and I could listen to Steph Houghton all day. She is a brilliant talker.

Chloe Kelly leaving City on January is ok, but not anyone but United, Arsenal, or Chelsea. Ian is talking rubbish, and imagine Kelly denied City by going to a rival. She's still under contract. Jill Scott was in a similar position and went out on loan Everton and Aston Villa on separate occasions. In the summer, she can join any team she wants because she's a free agent.
