Eckhart Tolle is widely recognized as one of the most original and inspiring spiritual teachers of our time. He travels and teaches throughout the world.
Eckhart is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition, but excludes none. At the core of his teachings lies the transformation of individual and collective human consciousness - a global spiritual awakening.
Eckhart Tolle is the author of The Power of Now, a #1 New York Times Bestseller, which has been translated into 32 languages and become one of the most influential spiritual books of our time.
In his most recent book, A New Earth, he shows how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world.

It's utterly amazing how someone can say so much from 12:00 - 14:30 but not say a word. Listening to this with headphones on and full screen, just staring at Eckhart whilst he stares back was quite intense but in the best use of the word 'intense' that there is! What a fascinating and incredible man he is.

I believe he is able to do that, because he's not in a rush to answer the question to prove to the audience and his ego that he knows what he's talking about or has the answer or is smart. You can see when someone doesn't have an answer and quickly blags something, but lying or not really answering. Like a politician or a middle manager.

No matter how much suffering our minds create, no matter how much misery I wallow in, no matter the cause, the loss, the divorce, the misery, when I listen to Eckhart it all fades away into the nothingness from which it came. Fortunately I found the Power of Now at age 19 and have been listening ever since. So there is a lot of freedom from pain. But the beauty of the clear teaching ends suffering upon contact. Gate, gate, gate, paragate, parasamgate, boddhisvaha. Gone, gone, gone to the furthest shore. Hail the goer...

You help me come back to center. My son had a job interview which would allow him to move to a city he loves - it was yesterday, and I've been fretting because he hasn't gotten a call yet. It seems as thought it'd be the perfect place for him, but just not sure he "aced' it. I know at my core that it'll be okay either way and yet I want to make deals with the universe, laws of attraction and divine right that he gets that call right....now. Then I watch your smiling eyes, your amusement at being a bartender in a disco - and I start to remember that I'm messing around in the past with the way the interview went, and the future about how super disappointed he'll be if he's not offered the position. There is peace right now, and that's all the real estate I possess - I can breathe and quiet down a bit. Thank you, Eckhart.

ACCEPTANCE the original meaning of the word is 'take something to oneself, take what is offered' - what the present moment is offering you, saying 'yes' to the now. Practice an inner smile and silently saying 'Yes'. ENJOY original meaning 'take delight in' - delight in the present moment ENTHUSIASM original meaning '‘possessed by a god, inspired’ (based on theos ‘god’) - being possessed by God/Divine Love in the present moment. Thank you Eckhart, Namaste to all who read this ♥♥♥

Helen Thomas.... being present does not mean “enjoying” the present moment. Being present means fully accepting the moment is for what it is. If it is painful, being present means you can recognize it and learn from it, heal and move through it or change it if possible. If it is joyful, being present means you also learn from it and can fully savor it. Being present does not mean you pretend all moments are enjoyable. Being beaten or raped is not enjoyable. Starving is not enjoyable. Telling people that being “present” means to smile and enjoy painful moments is the opposite of presence. It is projection.

@@TheresFuckeryAfoot Yes, I totally agree. I have been accepting and embracing all parts of myself that arise in the present moment, including all the hurt, insecure and resentful parts. What I thought was lovely in respect to Eckhart's teaching is that when we are fully present without the suffering ego being present, we can take delight in the moment, exactly as it is by firstly allowing ourself to accept the moment (so if I am in a neutral state of consciousness for example, as I focus on saying yes to the moment, accepting it as it is, a natural joy fills my heart - as Eckhart speaks of). I was interested in the original meaning of each word that Eckhart referred to and found wisdom that others may enjoy too. Apologies for poor explanation, not a strong point of mine.

I deal with this everyday. I work in a windowless box under yellow lights in front of large machines that make a lot of noise and always breathing in fumes from the adhesives I work with. Everyday I have to say well this is where you are at the present moment and accept it. My shoulders hurt from the job and it's repetitive nature. I get headaches from the noise and the smells. But my dad is getting double shoulder surgery and I most likely will need to make that paycheck. It's hard to accept the moment when I'm huffing in those fumes and my shoulders start to hurt.

I found this lecture helpful. I’m not considering changing jobs but I’ve been obsessed about relocating and that obsession has caused me a lot of stress as I keep telling myself that I don’t want to live in this city for the rest of my life. But there are things about living in this city that I enjoy and I will now be more present and enjoy each moment, telling myself that I don’t have to be here forever. Someday I may move but just enjoy the present, accept it until further notice.

Doing what you love remains the only possible way . I wanted to know,what these famous singers ,entrepreneurs ,painters and atheletes do? Do they also like to postpone their work like us ? But I think postponing your work may be the symptom you didn't like it . If you are able to love what you do ,picking up any profession will work . But it is very difficult either .

That is a lot to cope with, Sandra. Could you take yourself away for some 5-10 minute breaks in the day with the specific intent to just sit with your hand on your heart and breathe eyes closed. Then ask for the wisdom, inspiration, courage, people, opportunities etc to show up to help you move into something else. Try to do this from a place of strength and sovereignty rather than feeling desperation, which will come if you give yourself some moment to simply breathe and calm down your nervous system as you feel into your inner strength. It calms down the anger and frustration. It is more powerful to do it like that, than a longing and cry for help. And if you know what you desire talk about that, look towards that, imagine that, fill in the picture, fuel the fire of what it is you want. Instead of what you don’t want. It also gives you and your mind a mini holiday to allow yourself the chance to imagine a new life, a new way of being, whilst also conjuring a new life. Could you find an interest group in the something that you want to move towards? Or a support group for fellow health workers to make connections? I know it is virtual right now, but anything at all should help to bring you some relief. I recommend a start and end of day routine of 10 minutes closing the eyes and focus on nice relaxing spa music or a sound... you can call it meditation or you can call it switching off. Keep letting those unwanted thoughts float by on clouds and don’t let them stick. Next, next, next....until even for a few moments you find an empty space that you don’t have to fill. That’s freedom. I wish you good luck

Had tried to talk sense, to show that grooming doesnt have to cause fear & pain. It boiled down to this: she'd been doing it 28 years, I didnt know how to handle dogs, the dogs were putting one over on me, they're used to it and besides it's a grooming shop what did I expect. I left. I thought at first I might at least go back for a week since I had left her in a bind but saw she had texted and even tho I haven't read text I felt sick inside & knew I would not be going back for anything. As a conscious person, I had remembered to insist on being paid before I left...🙂 I am relieved to hear you say 'walk out'. I didnt have a sulky tantrum or hurl insults, this had been brewing inside me and the time had come. Dogs are not there to be scapegoats because you're feeling time constraints you yourself imposed, or being mad at your bather or boyfriend or whatever. She wasn't aware that it was her own energy making dogs fearful, so she punished them...they had to feel fear due to her own lack of awareness. It hurts my heart.

You suffer in a situation like this not just because you dislike it, but maybe more because you feel trapped or forced to endure it. If you can reach a place where you DECIDE to do it, even for just today, you will lift a lot of the negative experience of it.

That's like tricking yourself saying you broke up with your ex, not they broke up with you. And thinking you're better off anyway. It just changes the perspective and gives you agency but it doesn't address you emotional needs beneath it.
@scottj719

@@yvesarakawagames I guess this won't work if you can't create any alternate perspective on your perceptions or emotions. That's all I was getting at. A huge part of not liking a job is having the feeling of no options and simultaneoulsy hating it. Would you hate it as much if you chose to do it or you knew you had 5 days left until a better job?
@yvesarakawagames
@yvesarakawagames 2 жыл бұрын
@@scottj719 Well if you really mean just 5 days, I get it. Even if someone sets themselves a limit of a year or two. But people get used and conditioned to being treated badly and then they become scared to leave that "safety net". I think that's why many are so scared to even just put up with it from the start. They may start to deny their true wants and identity in the process and forget who they are and what they want (given enough time in the wrong place). Wills can be broken that way.

I have been working from home with the same company for 5 years. No raises to compensate for cost of living increases. It has nothing to do with me being happy or not with the job. I found better paying career with the same flexibility. I put it to the Universe after long hard searching for over 6 months and the effort rewarded me!!! PS I am a minimalist so even though i live simply gotta go and GROW!!!

Im a career counsellor and PhD in career development and counselling. Personally, I have left 30 jobs over the years. When I have tried to stay despite not enjoying it any more (to surrender/accept) something interesting occurs: The (what I call) "plank man" arrives and start to hit me in the head, at first just a notch and with time, if I don't act, he starts hitting me harder and harder. Of course the "plank man" doesn't exist in reality, it's me/my subconsious. But when that happens it's first quite sad (what is wrong with me?, why must I leave.. again?) but finally, when he is hitting me so I hardly can think straight, I pick the door. I don't care why I experiece this and learned to accept that its part of my life... It took me from working as a cleaning lady without higer education to earn a PhD in 15 years; as well as to be unemployed at this point of time.

I totally understand you.Why wouldn’t you “just except it and enjoyed it” being cleaning lady.Im in your shoes.I have been a housekeeper for 13 years,if I feel Im done with it,thats what it means.Im not going to convince myself to stay and enjoy every moment in the now.Frustration is a good thing,when we feel frustration at some situations at life its telling that its time for a change; without it we would not progress.Why would he complicate things so much.

Joel Dzuris first Put an intention into the universe that you want a better financial situation. Then find inner peace in the situation you are in. You are resisting it and that is causing suffering. You have to fully surrender to the now again and again and again and once you do the universe will open up the pearly gates of earthly heaven

I love Eckhart, but I think on this one he might be missing what the author may be alluding to between the lines assuming s/he may not enjoy their job. The model may enjoy the job of modeling, however, s/he may need more money to sustain an adequate lifestyle, pay bills, and not feel "up against it." It's a challenging point when a self-employed person is faced with the decision to abandon something s/he enjoys, yet the money derived from the professional pursuit is not paying the bills.

He claims that surrender to the present moment is the basis of happiness, but he concedes that there are situations where even he himself would not surrender. This makes me think, what is the underlying decision-making process? When is the right time to choose not to surrender?
@mochabo1
@mochabo1 5 жыл бұрын
Eckhart said he wouldn't surrender if there was a door open to leave. If your in Prison you cannot physically leave.. So you will have to surrender to that moment. In reality most of us create a prison in our minds from fear which prevents us from truly living. As for when to surrender.. You will know if the moment is for your higher self to learn... When not to surrender.. Look within to feel what answer is... You are the only one who knows best for yourself and you hold the key! ✌🏼❤️
