Based take. I and the 20 or so people I play with locally switched to our local LGS when Ursula’s return came out and they finally lowered their prices to be competitive at $120 a box

Too many TCG's jump too high in prices out of the gate. Part is speculation, part is FOMO, part is just raw popularity. MTG was cheap. MTG was cheap for YEARS.. well over a decade or more. Did some cards draw higher prices? Yes. Will Lorcana? Probably. Should it? Probably. Everyone wants to be MTG circa 2020's right out of the gate. That's not going to happen. I honestly don't casre how much someone wants to wave Sorcery or Lorcana or Star Wars or One Piece data around and say "Look LOOK!" They're all another MetaZoo to me until they can outlast the statisical history of TCG's. They need to maintain and GROW their player base. They need to be an accessible and playable game that establishes themselves BEFORE they start hitting Pokemon/MTG levels of collectability.

Most know this. But, you gotta admit that the Disney IP does provide more trust in general for players that the game is going to last. If it is a good investment or not is another discussion entirely.

I wasn't allowed to have trading cards as a kid so now as an adult I'm enjoying Lorcana and seeing all the characters from movies and cartoons I used to watch. The Nostalgia in these cards are the biggest seller for me. I enjoy magic too but because all the characters are kind of random and not something I relate or remember I don't get as involved with them. Except for the Dr. Who set! I love the Dr Who set more than anything Magic has come out with ever!

I’m enjoying Lorcana with my kids. Most of the started decks are good enough for casual play and I don’t feel the need to chase cards and pay a premium for them. My kids and I are quite exited about the new expansion pack coming in November. Overall game mechanics a quite easy to understand and play.

They have to change their approach to Enchanteds. The pull rates are less than 1 per case. I opened 5 boxes (4 in a sealed case) of skies and pulled zero Enchanteds, which is just terrible. And like outside of Mufasa who is $300 the rest are $120 or worse so they’re not even that valuable. It’s just bad for the game and it doesn’t help they increased the number of Enchanteds while not increasing rates

my Wallmart is always selling out of Lorcana. My LGS’s are selling out of first chapter and floodborn and they keep restocking through their local distributor. I agree Ursula Return is not a strong set.

Rudy has been mentioning that with Lorcana opening up to more distributors then this translates into higher print runs/lower box prices. What do you think?

It’s interesting because in my opinion (knowing little to nothing compared to someone like Rudy about the distribution business) more distros doesn’t necessarily mean more boxes. If there were plenty to go around it would mean a re distribution of those boxes, but there could be nuance I’m missing with that take.

Panic? No, this is just more opportunity for me. Once the market sets the prices on the champion(1 of 1) card next year, the perception that Lorcana is another TCG is going to go away. For folks who were not there, Pokemon was highly available back in the early 2000's. You could but all the 1st edition sets (except base, Jungle and fossil) at MSRP or cheaper if you buy boxes vs packs. Supply was never an issue. They reprinted Base set unlimited and some of the sets to the ground. Access was never an issue and no one would think the boxes would be worth what they are today.

It is great as it will enable people to buy more. Ravensburger and Disney can wait and don t need to sell everything now at msrp...what they want is the constant sales and more sets to be out as the more sets are out the more kids may be interested. It is better to be in an environment where parents can buy booster boxes at $80 instead of $160. The lower the prices the more parents will get some on amazon or in Disneyland/world.

They need to stop reprinting first chapter. If they feel they need to reprint certain cards in future sets then they should do so. That or make a set like FaB did when it released History Pack 1. It's not feasible to continuously print every set they've ever made.

You reprint until the douchebag morons with rooms full of first chapter booster boxes get it into their sparsely populated brains this is a card game and not a sound investment decision. The only reason first chapter is insane is because a shockingly high amount of such people exist. Reprint until they run out of storage run. Done. It certainly won’t be continuous printing

We're about to get set 6. Since when does a reprint of the first set makes sense? The meta evolves and printers will certainly not be functioning with 10 different sets at a time.

This game needs better precon decks. Pokemon has level 3 competitive decks. MTG and One piece are killing it with precons as well.
