It's great to realize that once I complete the CELTA course, I can apply its techniques and approaches to teach my native language, Portuguese. I hope this will open up new opportunities for me.

I glad that you were able to take this message from this video! In fact, not only teaching one's own native language but CELTA has thought me that there are many avenues within adult education that become available to us! That's one of the reasons I was able to develop my "Coaching Pro" course based on the lessons I learned from my own journey from; Teacher > to ESP teacher > Exams Teacher > Teacher Traininer (CELT, Trinity, CELTA, Technology) > Instructional Designer (for Immigration in Canada, Occupational Safety & Law) > Corporate Trainer > Entrepreneur Coach. The world is our oyster :)

Hi, I am a student and I'm goint to graduate soon with a Bachelors in IT management, but I don't think I want to pursue a path in the IT field. I was recommended by my father to try the CELTA course, and I don't think it's a bad idea. I'm a native English speaker, an imtermediate Arabic speaker, and I already gained TEFL certification before university. Due to my living situation, I haven't had an official job besides tutoring early learners from home for the last 6 years while I was studying. I wanted to ask you if its possible to get hired as a teacher with my BCOM ITM degree if I get CELTA as well. I wouldn't want to waste more of my fathers money and keep depending on him as he has done a lot for me, and I would like to start being able to give back to him. My career path has been very unclear and there isn't a person i know who can give me direction

Hi there, Thank you for reaching out! The CELTA is the primary qualification that most schools around the world look for when they are hiring English Language teachers. This does not mean that holding a CELTA means that you will automatically get hired, you still need to do an interview of course. However, it will mean that you will have the necessary qualifications. If you would like to discuss further, please feel free to book a free consultation with me :) you can use this link to book: calendly.com/integratedskillsacademy/free-45-min-consult

So informative. Do I need to have a TEFL of any other certificates before being accepted for a CELTA course?
@FergusFadden5 ай бұрын
I'm really glad to hear that!! Would you believe, my most recent video talks about your question and what is the content of the CELTA. However, the short answer to your question is 'no, you don't need any prior teaching certificate or experience in order to take CELTA. Check out my video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpvUlaCZeK-Co5o Also if you would like to book a FREE consultation with me please feel free to do with this link :) integratedskillsacademy.com/book-an-appointment/ Wishing you every success with your teaching career

Thanks for the video! I am interested in signing up for a CELTA course, as I'm looking into english teaching online as a career to support myself while living abroad. That being said, I do not hold a bachelors degree. Would earning a CELTA certification without a bachelor's degree be worth it, and would I still be able to find work?
@FergusFadden2 ай бұрын
for ESL jobs as long as you have a CELTA you generally won't need a bachelor's degree. Where are you based/considering teaching? Also, if you would like to speak about your goals, I would be happy to offer you a free consultation: calendly.com/integratedskillsacademy/free-45-min-consult

I'm not a native speaker, but I have the C2 level certificate of Cambridge. I passed the exam last year and have not practised my speaking much since then. What do you recommend I should do to boost my speaking and pronunciation skills before taking CELTA?
@FergusFadden7 ай бұрын
If you passed the C2 exam last year, I doubt you would have lost much in terms of an appropriate level of English for teaching purposes. However, if you would like to be proactive, I would recommend the usual things; increased exposure to native speakers/native speaker content (audiobooks are currently a personal favourite of mine and have a lot of pronunciation benefits). I also offer CELTA preparatory courses which have the side benefit of daily C2-level language practice i.e. a great way to keep your level up to date. If you are interested in chatting more about what options are open to you, you can book a free 45 minute appointment with me and we can discuss your goals. calendly.com/integratedskillsacademy/free-45-min-consult

Thank you for the video! Is it possible to make an ESOL teacher career living in the UK and beign non-native speaker? Is there any chance to get a full-time job in this area? I want to do it and feel that I can. But I'm afraid that even after CELTA I will not have enough hours
@FergusFadden5 ай бұрын
Great question! I can only really speak about my experience living in Dublin, Ireland as a Teacher and Teacher Trainer which could be pretty similar in terms of wages/cost of living to the UK. When I lived there it was affordable and even possible to save some money. However, I know that every year life becomes more and more expensive espcially in larger cities. So, I imagine that living and working as a teacher in London would be more challenging than somewhere like Bristol, Norwich or Leeds. In terms of being a non-native speaker, I am actually of the opinion that in that case you have a better chance of gaining a good job if you have CELTA than if you were to teach in a non-English speaking country. I've had many great Polish, Brazilian and French colleagues and have learned a lot from each of their perspectives. I think the non-native perspective is much more valued than many give it credit for. I would suggest check out teach job postings, apply for one or two and enquire about the salaries. Then check that against the cost of rent/groceries/transport and that should give you an idea of how worthwhile it is. If you would like to speak more about this, I do offer a free consultation which you can book via my booking page: calendly.com/integratedskillsacademy/free-45-min-consult
