Thank you for this video-it’s concise and very informative. My country, Luxembourg, has a tax treaty with Japan, yet it’s not included in the list of eligible nationalities, which is quite frustrating. Additionally, the application process and the effort required to gather all the necessary documents seem like too much trouble for what it’s worth.

I think if you are planning to live in Japan for a reasonable amount of time, there are other visa options that might be more practical and convenient. Thanks for the feedback ✊🏻 I appreciate it!

Thank you for the video, this was actually really insightful and depending on how things work out for me, I might go for it. Question though, if I'm self employed, how am I meant to go about getting the COE? From what I'm reading it's meant to be filled out by a _Japanese_ employer, not an American one, and that's assuming I can just write my own name into the COE.

Might be a good idea for you to look into “self-sponsorship”! I might go into more detail about this in upcoming videos.

Thank you for speaking about this topic. It really isn't a attractive visa to me but I can see how it can be attractive for people who like changing their base regularly. For now the only real option seems to be the business manager visa but that's a whole different level of commitment... 😅

Have you watched the video I made about the Business Manager Visa? Might be worth checking out 🤓 Best of luck!

@@GabrielOstrad Yes I have, thank you for making it! It looks like that will be the path my wife and I will try to take next year.

Sounds like a great path ✊🏻 Good luck!

Im in japan right now on this visa actually. I applied without a COE and had to wait about 6 weeks for the approval. Overall process was kind of annoying but not that bad. Only went for the visa because I work for a more traditional company and wanted everything above board.
@GabrielOstradАй бұрын
Interesting! I wonder if it took so long because of the lack of COE? Or did they not even ask you to provide one?
@chickenrerАй бұрын
@GabrielOstrad They said it could take up to 2 months without a COE and recommended I get one, but I didn't have an easy way to acquire one at the time.

@chickenrer glad it worked out 👍🏻

Very good vid!! Very informative! I believe that at this point is a nonsense visa… 6 months tourist visa it’s easier to get

Yes, the requirements seem a bit steep for such limited benefits.

Better off just staying in south korea and just take the ferry to japan for 30 days occasionally.

Worst Visa ever ... I really don't understand why they made it that bad .... I could just stay 6 month on a Tourist Visa also the required amount of money you need to earn is just insane -.-V there might be some countries where its doable but in my country if you earned more than 70k dollar a year you'd already be in the top 10% ... even while I was working for a Bank in the IT in my Country I only earned about 50k a year and I was already earning very good.

It seems the government just forgot about making it an appealing option 😅
