Personally, I like the unknown of going into a collectibles store not knowing what I might find, but if I'm going to lay down money for something I want to know what it is. So I doubt I would ever sign up for a service like this. I still get the sense of discovery but haven't committed anything, haha.

I'm going to check them out... And Utopia just makes this set for me. I'd resell the others and love life playing Utopia!

for me retro should be cartridge or floppy disk/tape.

Nirvana is, to some, considered classic rock. I feel like any time you can get a video game that involves muscians you should keep it sealed. I have the Rock Band The Beatles but of course i opened it. Too much fun. That Def Jam had good reviews back in the day before it was 'retro'. We are retro. 😂

I would say a deal but I have to agree I have a hard time with Gamecube and PS2 being retro. Or maybe I am just getting old. haha. It's like the first time I heard Bon Jovi and Guns and Roses playing on our local Classic Rock station some years ago. No denying its classic status but at the time I was thinking is this really old enough for the old rock station? Still seems recent to me. I probably wouldn't be into Def Jam Vendeta but I am not a Hip Hop fan and only really like the old school wrestling games on 8 and 16-bit systems. Great video as always, Tom.

Thank you, sir! Appreciate you watching! Agree 100% about Classic Radio!

Some decent games here. The Def Jam games were a fun twist on the wrestling game formula and even had a reasonably good story mode to them. It helps to have at least a vague attachment to the hip-hop scene, but it's a fun game regardless. Nightfire is a good Bond game, also -- probably one of the better non-GoldenEye Bond titles. Shame none of these are complete, though; makes the $50 a little hard to swallow, particularly since none of them are super-valuable in terms of price. But I guess you're paying for the service and the novelty value more than anything else.

Agree!! I wish they had cases. I don't particularly appreciate getting just the disc for what I'm paying. Thanks for watching!

I wonder if they would have sent better stuff if they knew you where doing an unboxing video 🙂 I'm looking at their service and I can see some value in it under some circumstances. I've got a few local thrift shops that I usually hit up for stuff like this. I'm still kicking myself for passing up on a boxed PC copy of Command & Conquer: The First Decade

Maybe I should have told them. Lol. It was a fun experiment but doubt I'll do it for very long. Just not enough value.

I'm afraid I think this is your first Dud. The question is would you have bought these games yourself? I get the mystery of it though but I think half the fun of collecting is the hunt.
@FloppyDeepDive

It was bound to happen! I agree the hunt is the best, but I always seek something new to share. It keeps it fun for me. To answer your question, I would never buy Def Jam. It's just not my type of game. My favorite two were the James Bond game, which is fun, and, of course, Hang On. Thanks for your comments, my friend!

One of the best parts of these services are they send you all kinds of games and give you a chance to play a game you wouldn't have bought and that gives you an opportunity to discover a game you might like but you wouldn't know cuz you wouldn't spend the money on it so it helps open your mind to new possibilities in gaming

That's a fantastic perspective! Thanks for sharing. That is very true. It reminds me of when I was a kid getting games off BBSs and not knowing what they were until I loaded them up. Copy parties were the same!

IMHO - this is a dud (but tastes can be subjective). Another ding for the mystery box is that $60ish worth of games for $50 just isn't a win in my book.

I hope you keep up buying these and uploading the videos opening them. Fascinating stuff for the viewer. However I wouldn't want to be you as the buyer. Two games that were just the disc, ouch. I'd never buy just the disc and I've a feeling you probably wouldn't either unless it was an exceptional case and these two aren't. What was up with the colours in Hang On before you showed it full screen?

Hello, Hazy! Good to hear from you. I'm glad you liked it. I agree; I would never buy a disc unless it were cheap. Good eye on the colors. I just picked up a GoPro, and I'm still playing with the settings. When I edited the video, I white-balanced it, and it turned it pink. I like the first-person perspective it gives me, so more of that to come. I didn't get many views on this video, so I haven't decided if I'll do any more. I did get a box for October.

If you do it again maybe title it "I was Sent a Mystery Box!" maybe that'll grab the eye more? It's a bit click bait-ery but might work.

I'm not sure. I'd say half of this package is a good purchase. Def Jam Vendetta was a pretty good game when it came out and for someone who's not really into wrestling, I put many hours into it. The Utopia game is kind of interesting and hang on is okay I suppose (my opinion of course). Still, it made for interesting content 👌 👍

Sorry this was totally a Dud, many of these games would be sitting on a shelf collecting dust because no one really wants them. Mystery Boxes are never good value, its fun for the "whats inside this box" factor but thats all.
