Crusader strike has been changed to give back 5% mana from 2%, also wildstrikes now procs from CS, DS, SoC, and SoC from WS.

There was a shield in the Gnomer loot that did reflect damage which makes it sound good for aoe palley but it also does damage to the paladin, so im unsure how useful it will be

It procs bad and it doesnt do dmg to the wearer. Its just a gimmicky shield unfortunately.

Honestly when I first saw the runes for paladin I thought they sucked and instantly started leveling a warrior to main for phase 2. But I was just looking at it from the Ret perspective. When I thought about it some more I think they might be really good for soloing content as prot in P2 already. Sacred shield + sheath of light = crazy self healing and a massive damage buff for your consecration. I'm cooking boys!

Unless some of the "memey specs" like Shockadin, Holy specced Ret Paladin (AP Shockadin) or something else kicks off (something Sims don't suggest they do atm) then DPS Paladin will take a big L compared to Hunter, Feral, Warrior and Rogues. However Tanking and Healing Paladins look absolutely *SOLID*! Illumination coming online for Holy, unlimited mana and spelldamage scaling from strength/AP for Prot is amazing!

You think tanks will go straight down the prot line? Being able to pick up Consecration and spread other 20 points across prot or ret is interesting. I was thinking of getting Consec, and then going down the Ret line to get Improv Ret Aura. Depending on how big the pulls are, swap Devine Storm for Aegis. Constructive thoughts?

I was thinking about trying a 11/8/12 prot build that prioritizes damage and mobility: Holy • 5/5 Divine Intellect • 5/5 Imp Seal of Righteousness • Consecration Prot • 5/5 Imp Devo Aura (would take Redoubt but it doesn't stack with Aegis Rune) • 3/3 Precision Ret • 5/5 Blessing of Might • 2/2 Improved Judgement • 3/5 Deflection • 2/2 Pursuit of Justice Runes: • Divine Storm > Aegis if not taking damage • Sheath of Light on trash, Enlightened Judgements on bosses for taunt hit cap.

​@@Tiv.a as someone who has been a paladin tank since vanilla, don't bother with prot tree. Unless you have max lvl 60 or going for reckbombs in pvp, and the Agis is almost as bad as redoubt a dead rune till maybe level 60. You're better off going down holy tree pick up consecration+10 strength to holy shock. Other than holy shield pretty much all the talents are straight up bad In the prot tree. Much like BFD your damage output Will likely be more important than your damage mitigation. And you're likely going to be a decent healer as well without changing talents or gear. Things like sacred shield will give you an effective 500hp for 30 seconds and I believe refreshed every 6 able to be cast before combat so you have two pairs of boots, so cast then swap boots to guarded by the light or art of war before combat= profit.

3:11 Regarding Blessing of light. It is situational but there is a scenario where Blessing of light is superior to everything else. That's if tank is receiving over half their heals from paladin(s) then that tank should have blessing of light over everything else, (even kings) More healing per second or higher healing per mana efficiency will often be the difference between a tank death and a successful kill. There's not a ton of spell healing in the game at this point. Blessing of light is one of the few places where you can get it for free. Others may disagree because they don't understand how spell healing effects heals and don't value the tank staying alive. Blessing of Kings is a close second or first choice if holy paladins are half or less of the tanks source of incoming heals. Not this prot pally, all the way in Prot, divine storm is more than enough, and with essentially 130% threat, with the rune, holy shield, thorns with a druid, ret aura, shield spike, no issues holding multiple mobs at all. besides, conc is shit lol

Art of War is a great Rune, but I hope they move it to another slot. Because after being through Gnomeragan. Guarded by the Light Rune is A MUST HAVE RUNE as Retribution Paladin. Because you simply do not have the mana pool to make use of Art of War in raid. Even with Seal of Wisdom on, if you use Art of War in raid. You could big boom, but then your straight into seal of Wisdom, and crusader strike spamming for 30 seconds. So far I've found the better and more consistent damage is to go with Guarded by the Light, and seal twist Seal of Command and Seal of Righteousness. With the last boss of Gnomer being a marathon over a dps race, at least for right now. I also found Seal of the Martyrdom. To be not just in your best interest, but your raids best interest.

Art of War for sure needs its reset to be free, and honestly if you cast the reset within a short window it should refund all mana used for exorcism. I know this sounds almost OP, but with Ret's small mana pool, this would allow you to use the rune right now. But the window in which to do this also means there is a kiss/curse to Art of War. For me at least, this would then balance out the power. If you don't use the reset proc to get the 2nd exorcism, out then you don't get the mana refund, and then you down that mana, meaning you are that much closer to your conservation phase.

The devs are leaning more into Paladin being a powerhouse outside of PvE and more of a "do it all" PvP class, especially with these support runes that make Holy even better. Better self sustain and offensive capability in WPvP. This was really never their issue since they could always do pretty well in PvP but the class needs serious help if it wants to be taken seriously in PvE as anything other than a healer. Hoping this is rectified as we head into P3/P4. The Ret talents are AWFUL and really hold the spec back. Prot also needs some help if it wants to be taken seriously as anything other than a trash tank/Strat solo farmer.
