My Thinkware F200 Pro came with the GPS antenna. I'm guessing that they added it to the latest F200 Pro model, as a sticker is affixed to the box-top specifying it, but it's not printed anywhere on the box.

Three questions from me if you have the time: ​​ 1- I'd like to get an immediate notification on my phone when my car is parked and something triggers the dashcam. 2- When this notification happens, I'd like to be able to view what the camera is filming, "live." Imagine I'm overnighting at a motel on the road, and I don't have a direct view of my car, this would be very useful for safety. 3- Is there a setting to adjust how much footage will be kept permanently upon being triggered? ​Like set ​prior to trigger and​ ​2 to 3 minutes "after"? Hey there: 1) You'll need Cloud features and your phone to be hooked up to a mobile hotspot. We would recommend a step up from the Thinkware F200PRO and consider the Thinkware Q1000 instead as they have a Thinkware Connected feature. 2) Yep, that's what the Thinkware Remote Live View feature is for. 3) Yep, that is called Buffered Parking Mode and that's what controls it in the settings. 1) It does not at this time! 2) It does not, but you can purchase one separately. 3) We'd always recommend using the hardwiring kit and installing it properly so you can free up your OBD port, but as a secondary option, the OBD cable is a good choice too.

Right on Broseph, The editing of this video seems improved. I like that computer screen capture at 3:03 Now the camera; Wow! Only $199USD for a 2-Channel Premium Korean made product, and you said that includes the hardwiring kit ($35 value). Oh wait, only 30 frames per second, (I was expecting 60fps). The listed max operating temperature is only 60°C / 140°F. The $177USD Viofo A129 Plus Duo is 65°C / 149°F. This looks like a good entry level option for a new owner. But the A129 Plus Duo has the 2K@60fps Front, that I’ve fallen in love with. I do like the F200 has no screen though. But I like the A129 Plus mount, and form factor better. -Chuck

I had an incident at night, I hit a cow. The dashcam recorded the previous 30 sec and immediately stopped at impact. Is this normal or can adjustments be made.

It sounds like your dash cam's G-sensor detected the impact and saved the footage leading up to it, which is a standard feature to ensure critical moments are captured. However, it should continue recording after the impact as well. If the recording stopped immediately, there might be settings that need adjustment. Check your dash cam's settings for incident recording sensitivity. Sometimes, if the sensitivity is too high, it can trigger an early stop. You can usually adjust this to ensure it records a bit longer after an incident. @@blackboxmycar Thank you for your response, the incident happened so fast there was now braking. I'm fine, truck, not so much. The camera recorded enough to show the incident. The next recording kept was when I ran over the cow and it triggered again catching the rest. I will check my settings.

I just installed one of these in my friends 2014 Subaru outback, and you forgot to mention about the best feature, that it doesn't use a USB port for power, we tried two other brands until I figured it out that the bass from the stereo was destroying the USB port. So I installed the f200 pro with the obd ii power cable. However, was wondering if it would be okay to use the time-lapse parking mode. I've heard that the parking mode still drains the car battery and could lead to issues, is this true?

The operating temperate for this camera is listed at -10°C - 60°C (14°F - 140°F). We will be testing this and other cameras in the coming months to see which is the best camera for hot areas!

All Thinkware cameras, and most other brands, will record and store all footage on an SD card stored on the camera. Using the F200 Pro as an example, pulling footage is very quick as you can connect to the camera's wifi, and the footage is placed into a properly marked category for you, from which you can download directly to your phone. If you want footage to be stored on your phone at all times, that will require a constant connection every day as you drive. For something like that, I recommend Nexar cameras.

Reformatting for data integrity is just a common practice for the health of the card, while it is recommended, it is not required. To format on the F200 Pro, you hold down the record button for 5 seconds.

The best method is to simply unplug the power cable, then remove the microSD card.

For installing a hardwire kit, we recommend getting an add-a-fuse kit, which is also available as part of our Essential BlackboxMyCar Install Package. It's not strictly required, but it makes the installation easier and completely non-destructive. You will need two add-a-fuses if you're hardwiring a dash cam: one for a constant fuse and another for the ignition-switched fuse. For a battery pack setup, you'll only need one for an ignition-switched fuse.

The record button allows the current footage to be stored as an event file, being that it will be less likely overwritten.

It would be recommended to get an IR camera instead of a rear to record the interior of the vehicle as these are designed to record the interior especially in extreme low light conditions.

Thanks for the feedback. License plate clarity is definitely important, as this is an entry level 1080p model, I hear where you are coming from. You may have better luck looking at more premium 2k or 4k models. The latest image quality technology can be found in the VIOFO WM1, a comparable front only model to this.

I am a F200 Pro user. I find Full HD resolution is too blurry to record car plate number, unless it is right in front of you. Those cars plate numbers at the lane next to you about half the length of a car away are too blurry. Should have spent a little more to buy 4K model.

That's not because of resolution. It's because of the FPS. 60 FPS more suitable for catching number plate at a distance.

I don't understand Thinkware. I have a Thinkware F770 which I've had for 3 1/2 years. Prior to that I had a FineVu CR-550HD. All three give 1080P 30fps output from the front camera. I got the FineVu in 2007. There has been no advancement in the front camera in 14 years. Truly a disgrace! The FineVu which is 10 years older than my F770 actually has better video output. License plates are more legible in the CR-550HD output than the F770. I don't understand why there hasn't been any advancement. How about 2K or 4K output? 60FPS maybe? H265 compression with 4K front, 2K rear, 60FPS, and compatibility for a 256GB memory card would be awesome.

When I bought the Thinkware F770, it was their top of the line dash cam. In the 11 years that had passed since I had bought the FineVu, the image quality had actually decreased. It was impossible to spend more money at that time for a unit with higher resolution, and more memory storage. There seems to have been some progress since then.

Good question! Our guess would be the upgraded technology in camera quality. It could also be to try and prevent the cameras from overheating? Temperature reliability is something that is necessary, especially in North America where there is such a vast range of temperatures!

I’m very disgusted and disappointed on Thinkware brand I’ve ever own. I’ve bought a F770 back in 2015, when I bought my new Subaru during that time. But my F770 didn’t last one year then it’s broke and I required a 2nd unit replacement under brand warranty and 2nd F770 unit had also have problem with parking model and it shut itself off and restart every 10 minutes and had about it 5 years then it’s completely died on me today. I contact Thinkware customer service they weren’t helpful despite warranty is out, and they offer me 10% percent off get different unit. Which the different is cover $400 out of my pocket that is very low ball on them. Even though I paid $500 including installation with BestBuy back in 2015. And this is what I get SHAME ON YOU Thinkware I never buy another model from them ever!! 😡

You're comparing a 1080P dash cam to a 4K dash cam. It depends on what features you're prioritizing. If you're prioritizing parking mode, then we'd recommend the Thinkware U1000 or the Q1000 for you!
