Excellent and clear presentation. As to your conclusions, I agree with your rationale. After more than 50 bikes in my riding life (I'm 74 now) I had to recently trade in my stock CL500 - the first new bike I ever bought - for a CB125F as the CL500 was just too heavy for me - I've been ill and it's not likely to get any better - but I wanted a reliable lightweight to keep riding which I still enjoy tremendously. Most of my previous bikes until the 80's were british singles or twins, basket cases requiring re-build. With care and attention to detail those old Brits can be reliable. I've learnt a lot about motorcycle repair and maintenance fror 1964 onwards and have had some really nice modern bikes too, BMW R80RT, Honda 650 Dominator, Yamaha SR 500, Suzuki SV650S etc, but any time I put a too loud exhaust on regretted it due to the anti social aspect, though the SV650 loved it when re-jetted after modifying the standard exhaust and de-catting it. I expect I'll put a similar to your Black Widow on my 125 when I get it as the stock exhaust sounds really quiet and is also heavy and ugly. Just hope I can deal with the lack of power down the line. Ride safe and enjoy. Miss ALL moving and stationary objects 🙂

OK, thank you for uploading. It's great that that so many bikers are doing so. Please don't upgrade the exhaust pipe on your 125.... at the most, it will just sound like a 125 with an obnoxiously loud pipe... with no corresponding performance increaae,,,,, Just keep the bike standard, well maintained and sell it on.. because you will sell it when you pass your test and ride something bigger, that sounds a whole lot nicer off the bat, 125's are meant for people learning, for peole that want a cheap commute and for those that genuinely enjoy getting the most. TY for sharing

My number 1 reason for a 'sporty' exhaust is to be more audible to other road users. So they'll hopefully hear me first , then see me. Thanks for the video, you were very very clear, I enjoy watching videos on youtube more when I recognise the roads and you young lady do not speak like a Romford Essex girl. Keep it up and carry on enjoying the 2 wheels.

I never got around to changing the exhaust, but I ran a ybr125 alongside my Daytona 955i for a couple of years to save money on commuting. Best change I ever made to it was tyres, Michelin Pilot Sportys had so much grip I had to be careful not to scrape the pegs.
@ayserides3 жыл бұрын
Good set of tyres makes a huge difference. Especially since the stock 125 wheels are so skinny they struggle with grip sometimes if the road surface isn't great. Mine are still quite new but defo will do some research when it comes to buying a new set!

Thanks for the vid! I've had my bike for more than a year and I've wanted to upgrade the exhaust since the start. Many people online have been against the idea of upgrading exhausts on a 125 and upgrading my exhaust was a bit costly for me back then. You've made some really good points and now I am pretty hyped to get mine! I'll also get a 300mm to try and find a good balance between stock quiet and louddd. The deeper nice sound will honestly make the whole experience better :D
@ayserides3 жыл бұрын
It's a lot of fun! I found 300mm around 1.5x as loud as stock, which can get annoying on long journeys if you don't use earplugs 😂but with earplugs it's great, and sounds awesome

Good video. I'm considering an aftermarket budget lextec exhaust for my ybr125. Not because I want it louder (I hate obnoxious 125 exhausts) or faster, but because I want the durability and looks of stainless steel rather then stock that goes rusty. Trying to weigh up pros/cons - your video does just that thumbs 👍

Indeed I seen tunes on a 125cc where it went from 8.8 to 10hp, that's alot 12% more power
@ayserides2 жыл бұрын
It's true that it's a fair bit more power, and you'll probably get a few extra mph on the speedo. But for the money you spend you're better off putting it towards another bike to be honest. £500 for an exhaust + a k&n filter + a map could likely buy you an old 650cc bike with 60+ bhp
