Hello scrappers and planet lovers. This video is a continuation of my videos on scrapping a washer and a dryer. Now that all the metals have been separated, I weigh all the metals to see if it is worth separating the metals or taking in as is.

Great break down. On the concrete Half Moon pieces you can sell those for up to $30 for the set to someone local so they're can use them in their garden or a small tree surround. Just another idea for them rather then just throwing them away.

When it comes to pulling the brass from plug ends from cords if you come across a working slow cooker they work great for plug soup! Plug it in and let the plugs soak and as you get through them you can add more to the pot! I’ll also boil plug soup over a fire in the back yard in a old steel pot! It’s a win win you can enjoy a nice lil fire and make some money cleaning plug ends! CheeRs

Seems to me it’s best just to save valuable time and scrape it all and let them take it apart.

Thanks for the video...seems like it isnt worth disassembly, just take the wires and scrap the rest. Hope this video makes up for the lost profit.

I actually work for the transfer station in my town and we don’t let any appliances go into our semi trailers they all get smashed and put in the back of a truck to go to the scrap yard. It’s pretty common that people do this because it makes the city a little extra money.

Nice to hear. Well I live in rural part and they throw them right in the rear loader. Hopefully they separate it when they dump the truck.

my scrap yard lets me pile all the junk inside the tub of the washer and they let me throw the whole drum in my tin pile , they also let me get a certain percentage of my clean tin as steel price like one time I went there with 600 pounds of tin sheet (washer and dryer outisides oven shells etc ) and they gave me 450 tin and 150 steel , another I had 700 pounds of the same , and I got 500 t 200 steel I love my scrapyard for stuff like this

but what if the motor is aluminum instead of copper? Do you just take it in whole or what? I have 3 washers and two dryers right now and i am not sure what to do with them .I've already turned one on its side and it is aluminum . Maybe the rest are the same.

I would check all of them. If any are copper, make sure you take them off and separate the copper. If aluminum you could just leave them on or bring in as motor value. Depends on where you live, but aluminum motor price might be close to tin price and if that is the case, just leave it on for the weight.

The majority of stainless steel IS MAGNETIC. You don't come across martensitic stainless steel often which IS NOT MAGNETIC
@TinManScrapper
@TinManScrapper 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it if extremely low magnetic attraction it is considered s.s. Value at a scrapyard.
