Japan is obviously safe, but it's great to hear WHY, compared to other countries. The Japanese and English subtitles are a great way to learn a little extra. Thanks!

I love the double sub + long episodes my ONLY bad point is sometimes music can seems just a bit loud, it makes it weird when I go back a bit on repeat, but maybe that's me. or maybe changing for something a bit more ambiant and less trumpet funny jazz hahahaha but love it anyway good work thanks

I think that, compared to other countries, Japan is very safe. There is a respect there that doesn't exist in other countries. Maybe there seems to be an increase in activities that make Japanese people feel a bit nervous, but overall, the crime level in Japan is very low. One respondent mentioned being out after 7pm could be risky, but in my own country (and others), crimes can be committed at any time during the day! I definitely don't feel safe all the time here in England and, I can only imagine it's much worse in places like The USA from what I've seen. Maybe the number of European and USA films available in Japan cause increased crime or anxiety? It was nice to see Misato in your film - I remember hearing about her money being stolen; so sad.

I speak Japanese, but I am not a native Japanese speaker, therefore the rather loud annoying music in the background is a problem for me to understand fully what people reply in Japanese. Of course I can read the Japanese/English subtitles instead, but I would suggest to carry out these interviews without mixing it up with music.

I think Japan is definitely one of the safest countries in the world. No question about it. Having said that, unfortunately... there are a lot of Weirdos / Perverts in the world... and Japan is no exception. It's still considered Unsafe for a girl to walk alone in the street at night... So Misa chan was wise to move house after her little ordeal... Hope this will never happen again to her... or to anyone...🙏🏻🙁 Also l had a similar experience in losing my wallet many years ago in Hong Kong... when I eventually found it the money was gone. Though I was glad everything else was intact. So "All is not lost" like they say... and I have learned to be more careful ever since...😅

Japan is of course an extremely safe country. We all know why so I hope it stays that way. Regarding the India thing, I met a quite attractive South Korean flight attendant a few months ago who said some of the same things that woman at about 8:30 said about it. She didn't like going around India much because she didn't feel safe there. And things are at a point where the US State Department has issued advisories to women traveling there. That leads to my idea. Ask Japanese people about how they view Japan and Japanese people's relationship with other countries. Since I'm a geopolitical journalist it interests me. Start with South Korea. Relations seem to be mending of late but there is still a lot of resentment even though both countries have common interests in checking Chinese expansionism in the region. I hear a lot about the South Korean perspective on this but rarely the Japanese, so it would be nice to try that.

In Japan, very few will talk openly about Korea, mainly because of war, comfort women, and colonialism. But the Japanese have become tired of constantly being hit over the head with this issue, there is a term used by the Japanese and some western journalists “Korea fatigue “

It also depends where in japan and what you're comparing to. Tokyo is a bit dangerous from my perspective. I have a friend who was kidnapped as a child there, she was found, another friend was robbed in Shinjuku, i have other stories and accounts. These things happen there and everywhere so you have to take care like you would in other big cities like Toronto or London. But all these cities are safer than big cities in the US, and india is more dangerous for women. It just depends on your perspective and where you are. I lived in Tokyo for 6 years from 2001 and the things I'm talking about happened years ago. I hear it's more dangerous now.

One of the reasons why many people think that Japan is the safest is, Japanese people think so. Many Japanese people blindly believe that their national characteristic is the best in the world. I have friends from country ranked as safe as Japan or safer like Canada, Portugal and so on but they don’t think that their country is perfectly safe. I have been victim many times but I reported police only twice. One of them is bag snatching. Many Japanese people blamed me for the damage caused. Though I’ve never reported, I can’t count how many times I've been a victim of perverts. I’m often said 〝Congratulations ♫〟by my boss, colleagues and so on who hear that. If I ever become a victim of a crime in Japan again, I will only tell the minimum number of Japanese people necessary. Because there are many victims like me, Japanese people who have never experienced crime think that their country is completely safe. I look SouthAsian. I have faced more racism than I did in America. Many Japanese people have got mad to hear that. FYI, Japan has the fifth most serial killers.
@noripee827811 ай бұрын
@@gordonbgraham I didn't say Canada is safer than Japan. I said that Canadians know that their country is not completely safe. You are proving it perfectly. Many foreign women have been trafficked into prostitution in Japan too. I know some and one of them is missing. That’s why I can’t count how many Japanese guys have suddenly touched my body on the street. What I wanted to tell you was…Do Canadian people say 〝Traficking? We Canadians never do that!!〟? Why do you think that I didn’t get physically asaulted? Many Japanese people have told me 〝The reason why many Japanese guys have touched your body on the street isn’t because you look foreigner but slut! We are different from Americans, we never discriminate people! 〟…Can you imagine how you feel to be said that next day to you were kicked or almost raped? It may be true that Japan is safer than Canada, but I would like you to refrain from telling someone who has been a victim of crime many times that her country should be much safer. You have worked at a Japanese high school for many years, haven’t you? I thought you knew that Japan was a country that turned a blind eye to things that were inconvenient. Whether you know it or not, whether Canada is same or not, don't forget that one of your students may be a victim of sexual crime and her parents may be ashamed of her damage. I know a life as a disabled woman who looks SouthAsian is different from that of usual Japanese though.
