i will admit that i have so much fun while grappling that I do consider it a game in my mind. it becomes fighting in a tournament or even more in a real-threat scenario. the moment you start worrying about your well being while facing a grappler, it becomes a fight. the difference stays in the grappler's intention. does he want to hurt you or not? so, IMO it's a playful way to learn how to fight. people like violence, and since grappling is such a controlled way to cause damage, is not liked as much as uncontrolled damage. i don't know if this will make sense to you but I think there is a correlation to this: I prefer horror movies in which there is NOT a single scene in where the monster is clearly visible. if I manage to see a clean frame of what's supposed to scare me, it doesn't scare me anymore as much as before. in BJJ, most of the times, you can tell if an armbar is well setup. so you can predict the end of the match easier than in sports where they kick and puch. as far as I know, if you watched a boxing match and put slow motion every landing punch of the match and try to predict if it will be a ko or not, well... i don't think there a way to predict that. it's basically gambling

Jiu jitsu isnt fighting. It doesnt even work in a real fight. Jiu jitsu is probably the worst martial art
