It’s best to come during dry season from November to May. April-May will be the hottest months though so November-March is probably best.

In my previous trips in Thailand I did not visit this region because I felt it did not worth it. Your video is therefore relevant because now it convinces me that I should go there. Kendra, you are an excellent narrator, you speak slowly, clearly so it makes it interesting. Your English is easy to understand for everyone. Thank you and keep on !
@LucasWorldTravel3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Jean-Guy! I teach English online so I know the importance of speaking slowly. Kanchanaburi is definitely not as popular as many other cities in Thailand, but it really does have a lot to offer and we are so glad we visited it! It's definitely worth a visit when you get back in Thailand. Kind regard my friend and thanks for watching!

Wayne does enjoy WW 2 history so would enjoy the Jeath War Museum. Wayne watched the John Wayne movie with the same bridge's name so many times when he was growing up! April has issues with her left knee too, from an old injury. Wow, that monkey pod tree is so awesome! Do you know how old it is? How come you did not go on any of the carnival rides? 😉
@LucasWorldTravel3 жыл бұрын
The tree was around 100 years old and for whatever reason we just weren't in the mood to ride rides. Seeing the pretty colors and watching people have a good time was enough for us.
@GoTravelOnTheCheap3 жыл бұрын
Gotcha. We would have guessed the tree was older than 100!

The history of the railway is very sad, but I agree with David, hopefully many will learn from the past. That is interesting that people walk on it, I was glad to see the platforms along the way. The view from the riverside restaurant was so lovely.

I haven't been here for many years, but it is definitely worth visiting. So much to do there. Sadly, most Thai people have no clue about the history behind the bridge and don't know what happened there. What time of year did the fair take place? I'd like to go. Did you checkout Hellfire Pass?

The fair was early December and really nice! Fireworks every night. We didn’t make it to hell fire pass. Always leaving something for next time!

The views from the bridge are so beautiful! It is good that it is a tourist attraction so that people can learn the darker history behind it. The monkey pod tree is incredible...I don't think I have ever seen a tree that enormous. I love the waterfalls as well. The restaurant on the river front is also amazing...so lovely you can have delicious food and watch all the fireworks!

We got lucky because we had no idea fireworks would be going off, but it made for a magical dinner.

Wow the history of that bridge was both fascinating and heartbreaking at the same time. As David said it’s good that it’s a tourist attraction now so that we can all learn from the past. The staircase to the temple are so colourful and lead up to an even more colourful temple. Loved the huge tree, that was impressive too!
@LucasWorldTravel3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's good that they have both the festival and the museum to educate and raise awareness about the history of the bridge. So many people dislike learning about history. This is why we admire the way they skilfully teach it. Thanks for the comment guys! Kind regards!
