I too found myself checking the time when this movie dragged, but I'm still really glad I saw it. A part of history portrayed that I knew would be disturbing, but I still wanted to know about under the watchful eye of Scorsese. Watched the movie yesterday, I personally thought they did a very good job making it. I think Lily Gladstone is the heart and soul of this movie. Like you say it's a very unpleasant feeling when you leave the movie theater, because of the large injustices that were done and some that still going on. It makes me feel really sad, as to what happened to the members of the tribe,who were murdered. One person during my screening, walked out, later in the movie. Director Socrecesse, I feel handled it with the upmost respect and reverence. I read somewhere that it that originally, they were going to have Leo play the federal agent and it would focus on that largely and the federal agents perspective,not sure if that would have worked for what Director Socrecesse wanted to do with the movie. Think the movie is definitely something that will leave you thinking long after you leave the theater, feel that they handled the history as respectfully as they could. Unpleasant, disturbing,yes, though, I think some films should be shown, unless people forget. I think its a very powerful,film, with strong performances from Decapiro, Deniro, and Lily Gladstone.

As an Indigenous person thank you for sharing your outside perspective in the introduction. 🙏🏽 I'm a big film fan and whenever Hollywood covers Indigenous related stories I'm never fully able to give an objective opinion, I find it difficult especially when it involves injustice. There's plenty of things I liked and some things I wanted to see more of in this film. Without spoilers I will say I think the artistic ending is beautifully done, Scorsese offering a moment of self reflection and the discussions it can lead to.

I totally agree with your comment on the finale! What I got from the Scorsese's cammeo is a clear message of someone who puts his face as a man before the director, it felt like an admission of guilt and somehow an apology for what happened and, at the same time, a reminder for the white americans like "this is what WE did, let's never forget it" I appreciated it a lot!

The fact that this movie is very powerful, like you said, is the reason why I didn't feel it to be too long. Instead, time flew for me. When I think of the scenes and the storyline, I feel like the lenght was appropriate, I nevel felt any action or moment to be useless, they all fit just fine and have their own purpose. And you're right: most of the people don't even pay attention to the directing or cinematography, they just want to have a good experience so I prefer a 1000 times a review like you just did than a very technical speech which goes nowhere but feeding the ego of the reviewer. I'm curious to know what do you think about the finale? Very good review, man! 👍💪

My biggest problem with this movie was the narrative. I immediately understood each character and their arch, Oh their gonna die, oh their corruptible, or their evil. I found myself desensitized by my boredom with the story. The cinematography was amazing, set design was immaculate most actors were great but I hated Leo in this. There are scenes where the character lying was more believable and natural than the actual character. That left me confused and thinking there must be something deeper here I'm missing then nothing. I found myself empathizing as the movie goer with his character and didn't want to and couldn't fathom the perspective choice. Why wasn't this presented from the wife's perspective? Seriously, why not? She has a good idea of what's happening but no tangible clues only feelings and the obvious as we the movie goer do to. But empathizing with her would present the problems that she faces, yes she loves him yes he loves her it makes sense but could it be really and she already made a choice is it really worth upending everything because of feelings. All that can be done slow and never be boring seeing the aftermath of violence and realizing it was done by those you trusted and treated like family is more brutal than the actual violence. I was happy to see the movie in the theater, went specifically because I may never get to again both because of time and the current industry. I'm still very happy I went but think this is a failure of a film. Others I went with loved the film and I have been consistently disappointed in movies lately, there is a good chance this is my problem.

The "heaviest"... hmmm... that's a good question... I would say yes for right now. Perhaps The Irishman if I watch it again, but for now, yes, this is the heaviest Scorsese film

I grew up listening to my mother, a Seminole share stories of how my ancestors land was taken from them, they were pistol whipped and some murdered. Cut their beautiful long hair and changed their names. Yet, I will view this film. Not sure if I will stay til it ends. Thank you for your introspective thoughts and review of this film. It's extremely uncomfortable to watch the events that unfolded in the movie. I would say I walked out sad as hell. (SPOILERS BELOW) When the mother and the ancestors reunited with one another and they to extended their hands to hers it got me in my feelings.

I thought it was excellent. Didn't know anything about this time in US history and now can't stop looking it up to try to find out more. It is definitely an uncomfortable subject and a movie that is meant to be talked about after viewing. It didn't feel like it was 3.5 hours long to me as it was a fascinating and quite well-paced watch. I think it will make a sweep come award season. What i didn't like, however, and it seems to be the norm these days, is that not all the native language was subtitled. Sure, you get the nuance on some of the one liners but I would have loved to actually know what DeNiro was saying when he spoke for a fair bit. And I agree - Brendan Fraser in this totally seemed to be over-acting

you mentioned that this movie that it has a length of 3 and a half hours aka 3 26mins i mean, Good grief , there is a lot of different three hr movies (effective lengths) theres good ones like schindler and jfk schindlers list was at least 3hrs and 15mins and that is just as epic for spielberg and that has great performances from a lot of terrific actors in that film whereas the kevin costner oliver stone Jfk film, that is the same length as this film, 3hrs 26mins braveheart is a good three hour film titanic is a good three hour film But Both have rather sad outcomes for the characters in braveheart and titanic titanic and braveheart are both 3hrs titanic is 3hrs 14mins while braveheart is 2hrs 58mins which is exactly 3hrs the deer hunter that film is 3 hrs long then you have gone with the wind which is 4 hrs long then you have movies like heat that film is close to 3hrs at 2hrs 50mins , casino, length of that movie, 2hr 58mins basically you get my point about different 3hr movies whether shorter or longer and whats surprising is that scorsese would pull off a 3 and a half hour film after he had did wolf of wall street which was 3 hrs this film, surprisingly, at the same time, while having a good story can sometimes also be overwhelming to some people and yes the film is told wonderful brendan fraser has a interesting performance in this movie opposite dicaprio although, people seem to enjoy his older work like his roles in the mummy movies and fun comedies like encino man and i seem to enjoy his role as the security guard in looney tunes back in action its fun comedy movies like that fraser does that are terrific michael caine is a great actor while he enjoys his retirement from acting it seems like the rest of us who like his work tend to look at older performances of his while his performance in the nolan batman movies is quite interesting caine was in the muppet christmas carol from 1992 which his performance of scrooge is humorous whereas his performance of alfred in the nolan batman movies, are terrific, when i say terrific, they are Great great review

It was a great movie, but not something I would want to watch again. I also found it to be a bit overly long and dragged out at some parts. Still though, it had excellent acting, production design, and cinematography. Just not my favorite from Scorsese, but a great addition to his filmography.

Huge fan of Marty and his films, including The Irishman, Raging Bull, to even the best of the best Good Fellas. Killer's of the Flower Moon for me was a just right but not over the top experience. Scorsese is at it once again, either his final master piece or more to come. The 3 hrs and 27 min run time gets nitty and gritty. Scorsese's long-awaited title goes in depth to the horrifying events that take place in the Osage Nation back in the late 1920s. This movie must be watched with a grain of salt. At times, the movie may seem to drag and just dry out. Other instances, it finds an adrenalin rush and keeps you wanting for more. The storyline is directed very well and explained throughout. Some scenes make the viewer lose focus, but somewhere in the middle, you're back in Marty's routes. Deniro, Leo. And Lily performs exceptionally well. Viewers have stated Gladstone was missing a bit and times. However, as the story continues, your mind starts to understand what each actor is going through. All in all, I would rate this 4/5 just because Marty could've done just a bit better on the audio and the run time.

Adam Driver? Idk, someone younger and less well known. 50 year old Leo playing a WW1 veteran looking for a wife just doesn’t do it for me. In real life Burkhart was in his late twenties when he married Mollie. As for a director, how about PTA? Or even Fincher- I think he would have structured it better. Thanks for the reply! Young, southern American, handsome and could be a believable "do-er of bad things". However, that's just in the looks department. I don't think he would be able to tackle those emotionally tough scenes. Again, this is just for fun haha. Bad movie power full movie is Schindler list Leo is showing off like a dumb person lily lines are muddled in Osage and her present is here and there I want to know more about the tribe not some serial killer movie in 3.5 hours not to mention who the bad guys are from getgo bad loud score by Rrobertson and finally with all the cameos we were in the same theather and chukeling and walking out and in I get to see Scorsese talking about the movies that inspired him for making this movie and didn't like any of those either
