There were actually a few romance options in the game: Theresa (the one Razor is mentioning), Lady Stephanie (married to Sir Divish, so adultery), not to mention the various bathhouse wenches and one-off options you can engage in. However, you can choose to make Henry an honorable man or a rogue. The game had plenty of options, which is what I love. Regarding KCD 2, given Embracer Group's influence and them getting people from CDPR in their ranks, I figured this stuff would creep into the game. If they had stuck to their principles, this would not be an issue... We can't just have platonic relationships between two guys anymore...

Yes, it is woke; from changing their Straight Christian character to now being able to have a gay romance (optional or not, it shouldn't be there in the first place because the words of the same devs stated he was a straight Christian man) and with the inclusion of a black character in Bohimia (with poasible dialogue of the man saying how his religion respects and upholds women, which is Islam). Even without those points, the devs and now a community manager trying to silence gamers, attacking them through tweets, or immediately placing bans weeks before release is ridiculous. Still a terrible company that had to crowdfund the first game, but it seems that their greed was enough to change face and follow corporations pushing the agenda. Funny enough, a dev (if not Vavra) wore a shirt with the word "based" on it; looks like a way to profit off of the current climate of games but seems like the situation is blowing up in their face.

I've been on Vavra’s talk during a gaming conference a year or two before the release of the first game. This guy invested an extreme amount of his time and effort to make the game… he turned grey in one year! Game is extremely realistic and brutal. Not only that, but every major character, location and historic fact is explained via notes you can read. This all is part of my history too, since I’m Croatian so to me it was fascinating to see such a level of detail. And also this path was very risky because at the time you couldn’t know if people would accept a realistic medieval game placed in Central Europe. I think Kingdom Come Deliverance is unequal in its feel and realism - no monsters, no fantasy, no witchcraft, no stuff that shouldn’t be in the medieval age. Needless to say, Vavra was very attached to this project, and I’m glad the game was actually finished and was successful. If they deviated from this path in the sequel I’m 100 percent sure it was thanks to the outside influence and am 100 percent sure it wasn’t his choice. I didn’t know Warhorse Studios was bought - and that would explain it. On the other hand, the middle ages - like all ages in human history - are filled with people of all kinds of deviant behavior. So if there is some of it as part of a realistic setting, that would be ok. But if they really pushed this stuff to appease “modern audience” I would be extremely disappointed.

This whole "suddenly bi" thing reminds me of Life Is Strange 2 (one of the worst games). The main character, Sean, mentions at the beginning that he likes a girl or two at school, and is hoping to sleep with one of them at a party he's going to. He never expresses interest in men, only women. However, you can chose to sleep with either a guy or a girl a few episodes later. Also, he's only 17 in that part of the game, the romance options look at least early 20s, and they give him alcohol before the sleeping together scene. Interesting choice.

I've played the game, unlike all of these faux conservative tourists, at best, it's skeptical about religion while trying to make peace with it's existing. The option for Henry to be a pious man is there, as are all the many ways that he can be an utter reprobate. I waited about a year before I bought the first one, I'm probably gonna do that again.

We need to be careful with throwing that word around too loosely. Woke is really simply cultural Marxism. It usually involves power plays and dynamics between power - victims, and victimizers. This is where the race swapping and the making everything gender-bent or gay or everything else comes in because these are seen as under-represented. This game by all accounts has none of that. The one point that I will agree that this game has a “woke” option is that Henry is canonically a very heterosexual dude. He is given one option of romance in the second game where he can pursue a gay relationship. That is a betrayal of his character from the first game. Everything else that people are talking about in this game as woke, is no better than what the woke-scolds do when they say everything I don’t like is Hitler.

Yeah it's strange, I never considered KCD1 as ultra based. I was a little annoyed by the adultery scene because it wasn't well signposted, so I chalked it up to Lady Stephanie taking advantage of Henry. I roleplayed Henry as an honest Christian and plan to continue doing so. I can guarantee you my Henry committed fewer mortal sins than most. I see so many people playing games like these as murder simulators.

So KDC 1: (MINOR SPOILERS) There are two situations where Henry can make choices that result in him getting laid. Three if you count the one where he's trying to track down the gang the murdered a bunch of people during the main quest(See Below - Spoiler warning). As for KDC 2. My understanding is that there is one chance to trigger a same sex scene - no idea what that looks like - but according to Warhorse - you know your doing the wrong thing. There is at least one conversation with a Muslim, he makes a claim about how they treat their women better than Christians do - I'm hoping you can tell him he's wrong - but I'm not going to burn the game in outrage if you can't. That at this point seems to be the full extent of "Woke" despite the miscellaneous ramblings of Warhorse and their parent company trying really hard to sabotage their own game. ---------- Tiny SPOILERS-------- Now, I've never tried to fail that part of the main quest because I believe you miss out on a lot of content. Success leads to a night of drunken revelry - a fist fight, more drunken revelry, and a brief scene with nudity - and Henry gets laid, followed by Mass and Henry giving a sermon (pay attention in the first part of the quest) The first opportunity is to have a clearly adulterous affair with the wife of a lord - I fell into that one on my first play through, the other playthroughs I avoid it - a single dialoged choice. The last one is Theresa - You meet Theresa, in the early tutorial/setup section - it's a tiny village, and you know everyone including her. Shortly after you have the option to save her from rape & (probably murder) by the Cumans. You meet again when you are attempting to burry your parents and she saves you from thugs. Your first "home" is the mill where she works with her Uncle. She is the only Romance Option. - I never ran into a marriage scene and I've played though at least 5 times. Her Romance can be avoided as well. There are two Gay characters - both are the Bad Guys.

I was waiting for specifics so I'm a bit disappointed. I was hoping you would discuss what the actual evidence was for this game being woke. Everything I've heard has been pretty much debunked by people who have purportedly played the whole game and said there is nothing woke in there worth mentioning. It was down to a dialogue option that if you don't select it, it won't come back. Then there is the African character, but that really depends on the writing. If he's narratively justified I don't see a problem with it. That's all I've found of any substance and yet all the anti-woke people who haven't played the game are condemning it. I think people are overreacting quite a bit here.

The Kingdom Come: Deliverance games are not 'based' or 'woke'. They are just designed to be accurate representations of the time and place that they are set in, that is 15th century Bohemia. Gay people existed in that time, even though it was a deeply religious society and that was frowned upon.
