Is Kundalini Awakening a Byproduct of Self-realization? | Nonduality

Question: I was wondering if you had any experiences with rising Kundalini and if Kundalini awakening is a byproduct of realizing your true self?
When we have spiritual experiences it is very important to understand, who is it that actually had this experience? During the experience, if it is authentic, there is no separate person present, afterwards often the mind or as Adrian calls it "The Clown" comes on the stage and claims the experience for itself!
Most spiritual traditions are based on the idea that the separate person and the world, in other words duality, is a reality. But in Non-Duality we understand that this “separate me” is just an idea of the mind, a bundle of thoughts, images, feelings and perceptions that pretends to be me, that tries to stand out as something separate from reality, from consciousness.
Adrian explains how spiritual experiences can facilitate this understanding (like in the case of the Indian sage Ramana Maharshi) but not essentially by themselves are freeing us from suffering or the ignorance of who or what we really are (Self-realization).

Thank you Adrian for sharing your reflection! 🙏 Here is my question, I suppose it pertains to the nature of awareness. If there is no reality to the separate self, then why am I only intimately aware of my own thoughts, dreams, and bodily sensations? Why do I lack direct access to the inner experiences of others? The only answer I could come up with so far is that I am aware of my mind-body activities only because they arise within my own conscious experience. Does this make my awareness separate from yours? If it does, isn't awareness inherently personal and separate?

You're very welcome Oleg 🙏 That is a very good question. The short answer is, that those limitations of thought and perception belong to your mind and not to awareness. Imagine you'd be having all thoughts, feelings and perceptions of all 8 billion people all simultaneously in your mind... that would be a huge blurry mess! So we, as awareness, filter usually out what is irrelevant to our avatar (body-mind) in the play. It doesn't essentially mean though that we don't have access to those 'mentations' of "other" people. We (awareness) actually do. Like in the example of thinking of a friend, that we haven't heard of in a long time, and the next moment the phone rings and she/he is calling.

I'm amused now that I'm fed up with the semantics of non-duality. I think this is developing love of self. Perhaps it's almost an irony to step aside from oneself to place it all in context when it's all of those things the mind is holding in front of me.. Yes, there is lots of sticky to the words So much desire can be generated by seeking these spiritual catch phrases, my face blushes.

Yes, I hear you Christopher. I am also not so excited of the nondual talk without the actual walk! In the end it’s all about experiential understanding of reality and living up to it in this human expression of consciousness. All the talk, all the semantics are empty without this living understanding. The openness to see that, especially in our own minds is the key to go beyond the words. It’s beautiful to see/read that openness in you. Thank you for sharing 🙏
