Latrells problem at fullback isn’t his lack of involvements it’s far better for him to have 8-10 runs a game and 3 or 4 of them be highly impactful than have 20-25 runs a game and 1 or 2 of them be impactful, if that… his actual problem at fullback is his defence, he’s too big and not agile enough to play fullback, the only reason it worked for Inglis is because besides being a freak athlete he read the game (defensively speaking) better than Latrell.

@Nephzi the teams that have a fullback that runs 20 plus times a game and chew up metres are in the finals. Edwards, Ponga, Nicoll- Klokstad, Walsh, Meany, Tedesco, Tracy, Rapana. The proof is what it is, Mitchell plays his best footy at centre, Roosters, NSW, Australia. He put a bit of effort in with Wayne there but since nah. Inglis wasnt a huge effort player either but he was always in fit fast pristine condition and always made the most out of his 10 runs, so many lang range tries mixed in with his power tries at centre or fullback.

@@Thechrisreece Leota, Fisher Harris, Fanoua Blake, Yeo, Haas, Tupou, Chrichton, Manu are just a few who are as big or 20kg bigger that take 20 runs a game for twice the metres. Some of them make alot more tackles aswell. He ain't no G.I thsts for sure. Now theres a guy who knew how to keep himself in tip top condition weight wise, as you get older and play overweight and you increase your chance of injuries. Turbo... well who knows about him, the odd guy just breaks down alot sometimes.

@fashionblyodd 102kg isnt that big . Inglis didnt retire because of his body, he said hecretired because he didn't want to do it anymore. He did it for 15 years so that's fair enough isn't it? He also played 270 plus over 70 rep games and was always it good shape. This guy has played literally half the games inglis did in half the time inglis played and he's already turning up wobbly and overweight all the time. If he dropped 5 t 8 kg he would be better off injury wise.

It's called passing, try assists, line break assists. Dylan Edwards probably has about 1 of each every 5 games. Only idiots would think a fullback running 500 metres a game with zero try assists is better than a fullback who only runs for 80 metres yet has 3 try assists especially considering you have 2 wingers and 2 centres who can run all ya metres up. Tries win games, not metre eaters

Latrell was the best fullback in Comp last year. The game hasn’t changed in 12 months. He carried the bunnies to top spot then strained his calf and missed most of the remaining season. That’s the facts. Also bunnies defence is pathetic. Especially through the middle. The fullback had absolutely nothing to do with that. It isn’t on latrell end of story. Anyone who says it is clearly doesn’t watch footy or know what they’re talking about

I think its uncalled for, the attack on Mitchell and Walker. Mitchell was out for 10 games this year, and before he got injured, Souths was on top. Souths lost nearly every game in his absence. He game back for two games before the season was over. Bloke still had not got his match fitness up. As for Walker; he touches the ball every play in the game. I'd understand if he was accused of trying too hard, but not for being a slouch.

My advice to Latrell would be (not that I'm qualified to give advice haha) ignore all of the negative stuff random ppl on the Internet say, keep active over the off-season, he's never going to be the fittest player on the field which is 100% fine but he can be the fittest Latrell he can be and just try his best. With all the un-needed hate that's been going around my respect for him has grown massively - he could be the most chill person in the world and it would have to have had some effect. As professiinal athletes you are never going to win every game, it's more common than you think honestly if you looked at all sports for what happened at south's to happen to a team (to some degree), so it's not the end of the world - there are going to be 16 teams that don't win the GF. Respect to the panel, it's not wrong or hateful to ask the questions, just people today type stuff they would never say to someone's face...

You only have to look at Latrell to see why he's a problem. For a guy with his talent, he puts in minimal effort to maximize his potential through training, as is obvious via the extra kilos he runs around with on his midriff. Artie Beetson could get away with it because he was a forward, but Latrell wants to excel at one of the most physically demanding positions on the field, especially in defense, and when you're a fat slug it's a hell of a lot harder to get across in cover than it is for someone like Tommy or Teddy. I wouldn't be surprised if a number of the 'preferential treatment' issues with Latrell at Souths stem from his slack work ethic. The guy could be another Inglis if he'd just put in the hard training necessary to shed that extra 5 - 10 kilos or so that he carries around.

What ruined Souths was State of Origin where the Penrith mafia deliberately picked Souths in the Origin squads but not in the run on sides for Origin 1 and 2 so Souths best players could not play in their club gains against the weaker sides. Yet they had to pick the Souths players to win Origin 3 to avoid the humiliation of a 3-0 drubbing and it was Souths that may have saved Fittler's job after being stabbed in the back. Souths lost nearly every club game during the Origin series. It was a disgrace because it was Souths that frightened Penrith who wanted to win 3 premierships in a row. so they abused their Origin power to do in Souths. It stinks.
