Good video. Very thorough. There is one last entry in this style of boarding. Long distance boarding can be very much jogging. Like jogging, you try to travel a certain amount of miles with uphill and downhills but always attempting to beat your record mins to miles. Long distance boarders tend to ride switch back and forth pushing and don't really stop pushing for long. There are moments going downhill that you can take a breather and carve but time is of the essence always. I always get comments from bicycle riders about how surprisingly fast I am on my longboard. Im sure my fellow roller bladers get the same kind of comments. My personal opinion, its more fun than biking and running, there are no flat tires or runners knee and the board could very well be a better cardio workout in almost every imaginable way. Plus if you need to protect yourself on the trail you have a weapon as well as fast transportation. I worship the board.

Hey Tylene thanks for the great feedback. I do have a full post on long distance longboarding, just type "long distance longboard" in Google and click on the first result. Your experience with skogging sounds very cool, if you have a pic or video you'd like to share of this activity I'd be glad to include it in a new post about the topic. What kind of board do you use for LDP? Just leave a comment in the post I mentioned if you like. Thanks and keep riding!

I ride long distance in my town and I I didn't think there were this many benefits. Definetley more motivation to keep cruising and carving!

Yeah distance riding/pushing has become my main fitness/cardio sport, I much prefer it to jogging or static bike. Plus it's great fun, and good cross-training for surf/SUP

@@RidingBoards it's much less demanding than walking/jogging, and you get to places faster while working on yourself in terms of exercise

@@asbestosalad yes much lower impact but it can still be an intense workout if you push/pump hard and curb hop! Gets you sweatin'!

@@RidingBoards It really does! Just yesterday I was just cruising around in a park with some good trails, going up and down hills, and it was some good intense workout. My legs are still sore from that.

I've been doing long distance longboarding for cardio for about 8-9 years now, every season I'm able to burn of excess body fat insanely quick when it warms up and I get conditioned again, timing route and extending routes with every session, so relaxing, so effective, toke a bit, listen to some fast music and get out there

Hey Kurt, I agree to me it beat the heck out of jogging. Do you ride trails? What distance do you ride on average? Do you ride a drop-through? I have a post on LDP here www.ridingboards.com/longboard-ldp

Do you think longboard freestyle/dancing can substitute for a leg workout if you do it almost every day?
@RidingBoards4 жыл бұрын
Yes I definitely think so, it's a heck of a workout. Though it may not replace an intense strength leg workout such as heavy weighted squats, it will be a lot more aerobic though. Awesome cardio too.

Which one is better exercise? Skateboard or longboard
@RidingBoards3 жыл бұрын
If you're young and athletic, skateboarding can give you an intense workout in a skatepark or on street spots, it takes a LOT of juice and strength to pop your board and ollie over obstacles, hit the ramp, grind rails, ride transitions etc. On the other hand, if you're an older rider, not in athletic shape, or newer to board sports, you can still get an amazing workout on a longboard in several ways - distance pushing and commuting, carving and sliding down a nice hill, distance pumping, surf skating, or freestyling and/or dancing. Dancing in particular can be a very nice cardio and balance workout with low impact, focusing on continuous skillful carving, boardwalking, cross stepping etc.

I do long distance long boarding and skate boarding and I'm young and very very athletic and have a fast metabolism so I'm gonna do skateboarding because I feel sweaty more on my skateboard, thanks!!

I'm a musician, if I fall and break something like a wrist or finger it could ruin my potential career. How can I ride while avoiding the risk of breaking those parts as much as possible?
@RidingBoards4 жыл бұрын
I would say first get a stable, quality longboard with big wheels that you can safely ride even over uneven terrain. E.g. something like the Sector 9 Mini Lookout bit.ly/3f5bApW or the Loaded Omakase bit.ly/38Ntg8o. Second, get some wrist guards, they're not too bothersome or visible and can save your hands if you do fall. And third, try to stick to bike lanes and quiet streets with smooth pavement. If you have big soft wheels and a large foot platform you should be able to ride with very little risk of falling. Just my 2c
