Great video. Gracias. Madrid has been my home for almost 30 years now. I started a new life here in 1992 leaving my old baggage ridden life in the states behind for what turned out to be one of, if not the, best decisions I've ever made in my lifetime. I found culture, I found incredible gastronomy and I found love both for the country and for my media naranja. What more could you ask for? Madrid is a wonderful city and keeps getting better and better, politics aside. People often make the mistake of comparing Madrid to other great cities like Barcelona, Paris, Rome etc and that is just plain wrong. Madrid's nightlife is tremendous but aside from "la marcha" there are so many others things to do like visit one of the over 40 museums the city has to offer.

I think the main reason why Madrid is undervalued is because from Catalonia, the Catalan separatists (politicians and citizens) have spent years denigrating the capital (Madrid). And another reason I think is because it doesn't have a beach compared to Barcelona. So many tourists prefer to travel to Barcelona instead of Madrid. Regards

For youth, Madrid night is known for parties and meet new people. Madrid has also economic attraction for companies, thats why is the richest region. Not to forget, the principal institutions of the country. But Madrid is not only Spain. Each regions has own culture and gastronomy. My region is known because of its Special status inside Spain. The landscape is fulled of valleys, mountains and north beaches. Flamenco, is andalusian dance, so if you see in Madrid is because andalusian migrants. There are different dances km each region.

Honestly, I don't think there's much to learn about bullfighting. It's just a fancy way to torture animals. I'm surprised you guys don't show disgust when visiting this place which, in my opinion, is shaming. If I didn't understand that just for being Spanish it doesn't mean I have something to do with this tradition, I'd be ashamed of it. For the rest, very nice and beautiful video. I agree; Madrid is underrated. I'm from Barcelona and, albeit different, I don't think Madrid has nothing to envy Barcelona, except, perhaps, the access to the sea.

Yes Madrid is beautiful 😍 As for the bullfighting, our opinion as tourists is just that, and opinion. It is not our place to show disgust to a tradition that we know nothing of. Many cultures around the world have crazy and often disgusting traditions. But we are here to learn and explore and gain a better understanding of the world.
@rogerjimenez27822 жыл бұрын
That's a great attitude, I believe. But in my opinion there should be some exceptions and this one, together with going to a stoning in certain countries, to a public execution or others should clearly be the exceptions. At least to not promote them. Not just to try to change anything. Thank you for your time to answer.
@ACoupleOfKiwis2 жыл бұрын
@@rogerjimenez2782 yes there are some exceptions. We felt like going to the arena but not going to an actual event was a way to learn but not support the actual act. I guess everyone has different thoughts and beliefs 😊
@robert111k2 жыл бұрын
Well, bulls are animals and we can't know for a fact how they really feel. I once read that the level of stress and suffering of a bull in the arena is some ten times fewer than the one of a dog while a firework spectacle is taking place. According to this, maybe we should be ashamed of _Las Fallas_ some ten times more? Difficult to gage, don't you think?
@rogerjimenez27822 жыл бұрын
@@robert111k First you say we can't know how they feel and then that according to what you once read somewhere, the dogs feel in a certain way. Isn't that incoherent? And the difference in those two escenarios is that one of them seeks to torture and kill an animal just for fun and the other is a side effect of a festivity. Is as if you were to call "children assassins" to those who drive a car for the children died for a cancer. We can't control everything. However I'm not a fan of fireworks and one of the reason of it is precisely that one (although I personally consider is not an strong enough reason to ban them). A part on that, I don't know where you read that but: 1.- You are accepting with that bulls must suffer (unnecessarily). 2.- Yes, they are animals, just like us (not plants, fungus or algaes) so it's reasonable to expect them to be sensitive to pain and suffering. All in all, what make humans "especial" is basically the intelligence; not the sensitivity; the nerve system. 3.- Considering the previous one, it's reasonable to be prudent and, in front of the doubt, act as if they were able to suffer (just as when I interact with a person who I don't know: that person may have a disease that makes them insensitive, but common sense and statistics make me think that very likely that's not the case).

So sad that 1 of the 3 things that 1st come to your mind about Spain is bullfighting 😢Many Spaniards wish this brutal tradition to be banned. I am glad that some regions such as Catalonia (Barcelona) have banned it already.

Many people also associate Spain only with flamenco dancers and don't know that in northwestern Spain in the autonomous regions of Galicia and Asturias the culture is quite different with Celtic influences such as the use of bagpipes and dances more akin to lrish ones.

Yesterdey a guy died in a "bous al carrer" celebration (a savage Catalan custom that allows normal people to marthyrize bulls with neither rules nor limitations). Maybe they should ban it as well.
