Is Mafia 2 Definitive Edition still worth playing in 2024? (Game Review)

You can free roam whenever you want, so long as your not in a time sensitive mission like selling the stamps or being in jail, etc. When it says "go to Joe's place" you can do anything the game allows. Mod your car, buy guns from harry, sell cars at the Docks, buy clothes, etc.

This is currently included for free with PS+ in the US. Also Mafia I definitive edition also was included with PS+ sometime earlier this year or last year. Mafia I definitive edition was a full blown remake that came out in 2020. Mafia III definitive edition is also on sale right now on the US PSN for $9.99

MAFIA III is good for free roamers, however it is a little more time consuming. It is also a lot more based on racism and civil rights era issues than mafia related missions. I havn't finished the game yet but it seems goof enough to keep playing.

IIRC Freeroam is actually a different game mode, accessible though the main menu

Better than the definitive edition, it has more downloadable content if purchased and has no glitches I’ve played it for the best part of the last ten years

Why do people like short games as long as it's not repetitive like Mafia 3 then what's wrong with a long story especially when you want your money's worth. Edit: especially in today's state of video game content drought.

nope theres no free roam, its best to then replay the chapter before the house burns down.

@@sergiovalenzuela2024 in my opinion yes definitely. Its a classic with small but very shiny moments. Otherwise driving around, robbing stores is a vibe. Getting caught and changing numberplates and outfits are some of my favourite game mechanics. Not to mention the option to unlock a car using your lockpicks, so windows stay intact. Compare that to gta v‘s „kill a man in the middle of nowhere and get 1 star wanted level“ logic and trevor and michael always using their elbows to steal a car, i would say i like mafia 2 yes
