I don't think Vito's lines are flat and un-inspiring, that's just how Vito is, he's not loud guy with humor and charm like Joe, He spent years in Army. Now I understand him more and appreciate how Normal he sounds.

If talking about the Bruno door glitch here’s what you gotta do. After you kill Tommy Angelo don’t rob any shops yet, after you drop Joe off and kill Derek then go rob shops. Do that and you’ll avoid the glitch

I ended up with a cut scene with Vito and Joe but Joe's character model wasn't there so it made Vito like he's was talking to a Ghost lol. I've uploaded the clip of it on my channel and I've got a funny feeling I will probably see more glitches.

well yeah the games are great, but the definitive edition of mafia 2 has a lot of problems with performance, bugs and optimization, which is what I moslty refer to in this video! glad to hear that you're enjoying the games though, I hope you haven't encountered any problems with the games yet!:)

Seems like most of the original version's graphical glitches are due to Nvidia drivers. A friend of mine had the exact same problems as you did, and I did a full playthrough of the game a while later on an AMD card and had no such problems. Although I had an issue where the game would crash whenever I took a car out of the garage & the fix for that was to simply set compatibility mode to Windows 7. Anyway, personally, I still prefer the original version. The new HD textures and models are nice, but the lighting's arguably worse because of the excessive bloom and contrast (at times it feels like an Instagram filter). Plus, the removed/broken eye animations and cloth physics really bring the presentation down. On an unrelated note, the Bioshock remaster is also full of unresolved issues to this day, like broken weapon animations which don't blend properly into the idle state after shooting or swinging. 2K really fumbled the remasters of their important IP's. Also, adding that disgusting 2K Launcher DRM to all their new releases was a really scummy move.

You might be right, I do use Nvidia! But apart from that, it's still kind of ridiculous they didn't manage to fix stuff like that, don't you think? Apparently I have to convert to AMD to make the game work properly haha! But I can definitely understand why you prefer the original!:)

I dont notice much graphical glitches on my ps4! ^^ Well… Except the floor ceasing to exist, letting me fall through it forever as vito sprials into hell or keeping animations from finishing so i have to redo entire missions because there’s not enough checkpoints

This game I have it on ps4 and the bugs have ruined it for me I’ve had a lot of them I’ve also now apparently got to re do chapter 14 because when I get to the part where you give that guy money after the cutscene it crashes and I can’t get past it it’s been one problem after another for me with this game

Sucks to hear. I play it on my Series X and i had no issues, but when i have an issue i just uninstall the gsme, sucks while you wait but sometimes it's worth it, probably the only advice i can give. Good luck

I think it's what you have already transfers to the Definitive Edition, making a discount when buying digitally. On PS4, I already had 3, so I got the Trilogy for the price of 1 and 2 and 3 got automatically updated to DE, whereas I had 2 on Steam, so I got 2 DE for free and got charged for only 1 and 3, which also gave me the original. I believe on Xbox you can get 2 and 3 upgraded if you already have them and only have to pay for the remake of the original

Bought all three a while back, and was finally getting to them. First game didn't give me any issues but when I got to Mafia 2, the map isn't finished seems like. Fell through the map too many times to keep count. Just gave up on chapter 8. Play on PS4 pro

There are some things like clothing, flickering textures, and smoke you can fix on the pc when editing/deleting a few files. Still shouldn't be the case in a 2 year old game and shouldn't have been there from launch.

setting pre rendered frames to 1 in nvidia profile inspector not only fixes, it literally DELETES all the stutters from mafia2. Trust me you can re-do that scene where they are machine gunning the glass windows and you will find it will remain at 60fps the entire time

Oh wow I didn't expect to see myself in that comments scrolling in the beginning, that took me by surprise lmao. I forgot that I even made that comment. I just got this game officially because I bought the trilogy pack on sale. $25 for Mafia 1 definitive, Mafia 2 definitive and classic, and Mafia 3 with all DLC. I personally think all of that is a steal, and if anyone else is debating whether or not to do it, the answer is yes. Mafia 2 definitive edition does have its downsides, but if you're getting it in the bundle or on sale then it's 100% worth the money. Plus you get the original anyways, which is always nice. Overall, if you're a proper Mafia fan then I would say this is worth getting. Just keep an eye on your storage space ;)

On joe's adventures on my ps3 sometime after I beat it it would go into an infinite loading screen usually after i die and stuff. Similar thing on the ps4 but instead of infinite loading it just crashes, reloading the file doesn't work i have to start the dlc over again.

Has anyone ever managed to find a fix for the black flashing / visual glitching in Classic as shown at 4:40? Scouring forum posts old and new isn't turning up much... Just last month, I began replaying the 2010 original for the sake of doing an achievement run for my Steam library. This game was absolutely great, but unfortunately due to my PC's overall power, it wasn't very stable. Hell, I managed to capture a clip where during driving, a large black hole appeared in the sky and crashed the game. It straight up looked like an apocalyptic event. Honestly, it's sad that the remaster is still horribly inferior and the original isn't stable on more powerful PCs... I dunno if mods are gonna fix the stability.

I just bought the trilogy for PS4. I loved this game when it came out so many years ago. But I think you're failing to consider something: If you originally played mafia II on pc, then I think your criticism is valid. But if you did so on a xbox 360 or PS3 back in the day, the remaster already looks miles better just from the resolution upgrade alone. Also: look up some gameplay from the xbox 360 version from back in the day: the coat "being stuck to the legs"-thing was there too. Seems like the pc version back in the day got a few details the console versions didn't. So they probably forgot to turn that option on for the remaster.

I deleted Mafia 2 DE the second I saw Henry all cross eyed in chapter 3 and finished the game in original. I wish one day they update mafia 2 DE to match or surpass Mafia DE but that would be a miracle

I've never had problems with the original game either, always runs great in my experience despite some minor inconveniences. It's just the definitive edition I've encountered significant problems with. About the spoiler at 7:45, I get that some people might not be happy with that, though its also a 14 year old game and many reviews on youtube show this part of the game, so I didn't see it as a problem. I hope it doesn't bother you, but if it does, I apologize.

Well I just finished Mafia 2 DE on PS5 and it was broken AF.. i still enjoyed the story when i could complete the missions, but when i first played it on PS3 i got 0 crashes or game breaking bugs.. on PS5 though, maybe 10 crashes during story and about 30 game breaking bugs, when i failed to complete missions for reasons (invisible walls, mission not continuing after cutscene etc)..

Here's the TLDR, you have literally no reason to play the DE version of Mafia II on PC unless you just prefer it. 1.) You get the classic version for free anyways w/ all the DLC 2.) Classic version has more mods and arguably better mods for immersion/gameplay 3.) The classic version is better in almost every way besides lighting, shadows and HD textures like you mentioned (you can also apply both HD texture mods and ReShade to the classic version as well) 4.) The Definitive Edition absolutely destroyed Henry holy shit. (Thats the main reason I don't play it lol) At the end of the day, play whatever you want but this is why I still play the classic version to this day however console is a different story and I can understand why console players would play that over the classic version simply due to accessibility.

The clothing physics is still broken to this day. And if you're playing on console there's no way to fix it as far as I know. Strangely it works on the DLC. It's such a shame they keep doing this to these legendary games. I bet there's many people who never played the original and had their first impression of the game ruined just like with GTA. Even those who have fond but distant childhood memories of playing these games have likely had their memories and nostalgia tainted.

Your voice lines comparison really isn’t fair, Vito has witty responses, but he is more stoic than Joe, the scene you used is after he returns from war, has nothing going on in his life and his mother just told him she wants him to end up like his deadbeat father. The guy is feeling miserable. You have to keep in mind Mafia 1 and 2 and to an extent 3 are games about two buddies going against the world (One more serious and the other a jester. Tommy and Paulie, Vito and Joe, Lincoln and Donovan) So usually Joe is the one making smirky comments and Vito is usually funny while responding to Joe or white he is without Joe (Because like it usually is, he takes inspiration from his best friend. It cannot be denied Joe had the greatest influence on Vitos life he ended up in the military because of him but when he sees him again he is overjoyed.) I could go on but I think this is enough.

I totally agree with you in that there is a big difference in characteristics between Vito and Joe, which makes it logical that Vito is more calm and reserved in comparison to Joe. I get that that's what they were going for. The reason why I called it flat and uninspired is not because Vito is a different character as a whole, but more about the way Vito's lines are delivered. In my opinion there are quite a few moments in which it sounds like the voice actor is just reading out lines instead of actually acting as a more reserved character. I hope that clears it up a bit more, but I totally get it if you think differently:)

I understand everyone's experience is different, but mine on PS4 was dreadful, pretty much as soon as I got the Jefferson, the game started running at about 10 FPS and wouldn't go above that, totally unplayable garbage. Which is really strange because on PS3 the original runs perfectly. At least Mafia III was always a buggy mess, just some bugs were swapped for others with the "Definitive Edition", meanwhile the remake of the original is the first game I platinumed because I enjoyed it so much

That's the whole thing, Empire bay is such a nice open world and I love it as well. It's just a shame they didn't give the game a bit more attention... glitches like the lockpick training freeze could've easily been fixed in the definitive edition if you ask me.
