Hey Carlo, it is honestly beautiful here. I was raised in NJ, and currently live in Texas as I was stationed there for the Army. I invested in Merida however 30 minutes north on the coast "Chuburna Puerto as well as Chicxulub Puerto." Whenever I come down here i feel in peace. Not a single city has made me feel so safe. It is growing fast and aside from the historic downtown, the north is upscale and beautiful while very modern. I believe it is a great city to live in and I plan to move here once I turn 30.

Your best bet is to start your own business, as you know in the restaurant industry we have very low pay, so expect the same in Mexico. Minimum wage in Mexico is about 250 pesos a day which is around 13 US Dollars for 10-12 hours or so. You can find out more info about starting a small business by watching this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/bajOf3eXj7Z3pKs

What I constantly say to my parents when they start to go down that road of "when are you moving back?" is the cost of living is more competitive. Then I state the monthly expenses and after that they change the subject. Mexico is a great country for adventure and food but it also makes practical economic sense. I wish the security situation along the border would improve so that more Americans would move and bring more economic opportunities to the border.

Those people that interrupt you are hustlers trying to make a living. You dont have to acknowledge them and let them interrupt you, you can just ignore them, it wont be sen as rude, they know you’re just going about your day and you’re not interested in any services or goods from anyone at that time. Yes they’re annoying but what can you do, not everyone has the fortune of having an economically confortable life, a lot of people have to hustle.

Jose, I'm strongly considering Merida for the next chapter of my life. The heat has me a bit concerned. I like the "Hacienda" type of house, with the central garden. Can I find a house in the city built in that style? Thanks for your videos, my wife & I love them!
@JoseArteagaTravels

If Heat is a Major concern then you should spend some time in Merida before making the Big move. The heat can be overwhelming sometimes even for the locals. As for the Hacienda type of homes, there are tons out here in Merida but due to the popularity of the city in recent years they are at a premium these days.

If the answer to the question. Is it still worth moving to Merida? And that's no or maybe.. there are hundreds of other great communities in Mexico to think about that are not as big, not as tourism oriented. Living in typical Mexico is awesome, affordable and rewarding.. expand your list if all the larger cities are growing too fast, are victims of mass gentrification!! Lots of Mexico is still authentic and enjoyable...all the mass increase in everything from population, investment money, growth in government and associated infrastructure. Mexico is a large country plenty to choose from. Pick a town or city you have not seen on the internet and you are off to a better start

So I'm looking at the renovation of the park. It looks like the downtown park in my home city/ state of San Antonio, Texas. All in the name of progress. You're correct to ask: Is moving to Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, still worth it? I am beginning to wonder. I believe your beloved Merida, Jose, is being Americanized day by day. The Mexican people already don't like the fact that they removed all those trees in the park, and, I agree with them, because you need to have a lot of trees in a place that's so hot and humid. And that's just the beginning. It's sad to say that Canadians and Americans won't stop until they make everything Canada or the United States. Again, be careful what you wish for with these transplants. These new people, that are invading, ( Yes, I said invading), Mexico, albeit for a very few, will not conform to Mexican customs and traditions. They say they will, but they won't. It's the same way that other people that have invaded the United States and Canada will not conform to those countries customs and traditions either. I feel like we are living in an upside down world right now. And that makes me sad, and terrified all at the same time. PS, With all that being said, I do love the fact that Mexico is having such a great prosperity it has been in a long time coming. Mexico greatly deserves all the prosperity, happiness, and, advancement in Mexico's Golden Age, which I believe is currently happening. Que Viva Mexico, Siempre. 💚💟❤️

Awesome Idea! In fact I should just pay someone to follow me 24/7 to make sure you know everything about me. No reason for me to have any privacy at all. You guys should know everything about my life to the point where you guys can make unannounced visits to my home. Sounds like an Amazing Idea!

Curious, will you be getting a social security pension? How well prepared are you when it's your turn to retire?
@JoseArteagaTravels
@JoseArteagaTravels 2 ай бұрын
The way I see it is very simple. Most retirees these days barely have enough as it is with their retirements right now, so what hope will i have in 25 years? Also I used to work in the restaurant industry and never thought I would even make it to retirement. That's why I always lived my life now and enjoyed my life now in my youth instead of waiting 45-50 years to retire and enjoy life. I have always lived a retired lifestyle and have always tried to live as much in the now as possible. That way by the time I do get into my 60s-70s I can truly say I lived my life and won't sitting there in a luxury penthouse thinking about all the things i could have done instead of just doing them when I had the chance.....

@@JoseArteagaTravelsThat’s TRUE freedom and living a full life. The U.S. oligarchs, govt., etc, have convinced the average American that living your full life, not chaining yourself to an employer, etc is the best option. It’s not. It’s indentured servitude hoping that you’ll get the few peanuts you’ve been “promised” at the end of your “service”. Folks are finally realizing that that’s the scam.

For you guys is amazing makig dollars ans spending in pesos ! And im tryin to be a btch i would do the same if i was from canada or us …. But for locals like me … its becoming a nightmare the higher prices i mean the average salary for a local is $8000 pesos and the average rent for housing is around $7000 i mean you dont survive with $1000 pesos and nobody does anything about it because the govermen is just stupid… i lived in salt lake city for a decade and i do really miss the fact that theres no holes on the ground … here innmerida is fked up i feel like mario kart going around avoiding holes ! So i guess if you enjoy the hot weather and you make dollars this is the right place for you but if you dont is just not
