Pls be very careful before giving gardenal . My dog's condition worsened after giving gardenal and she died. There are other meds like phenargen which have less side effects and doesn't screw up with dogs memory. It was my biggest mistake to feed gardenal and levitiracetum on vet's prescription.

@@nawabsinghgill please be very careful and strictly under doctor dosage if you are giving gardenal.... i would recommend phenargen syrup as it was safer when i used on my other dog .. ask your doctor about phenargen syrup and if he recommends definitely give it instead of gardenal...it also depends on the breed of dog..

When i gave her gardenal she lost all control to even swallow the food..thats when i understood i have made a huge mistake and i gave the dosage as per docs recommendation.I wanted to sue the doctor as i got online paid prescription from him, however i didnt. for my other dog i went to my local vet here and he prescribed phenargen.. its a mild syrup that is given to children to put them to sleep..when i gave phenargen as per doctor's dosage it was very smooth on her and her seizure was under control..but most importantly i continued giving vitamin b 12 injection as it the most important vitamin that can save its nervous system! please please give vitamin b 12 to your dog ( interms of food , egg boiled chicken , liver ) also coconut oil half teaspoon is good for the dog's stomach..its anti bacterial so it will be good for bacterial control... i kept changing medicines as per the symptoms.. also please keep massaging the body especially back legs pf the dog as long as you can in regular intervals... if you can lower the allopathy it will be good for the dog... also please enquire on distemperinum homeopathy medicine...its meant for canine distemper condition.... all you have to do is somehow keep the dog alive for atleast 2 months...you may have to force feed( be careful on liquid as it should not get into lungs).. mostly give boiled chicken as its a source of b12 ....keep informing your doctor on changing symptoms and change the medicines accordingly.. remember, canine distemper is a stage by stage symptom disease, first it shows bacterial effect on body, then fever, then lose motion, then seizure and nervous system affected with back leg paralysis to full body paralysis and recovery. . once fever stage is over it will affect gut causing diarrhoea/ lose motions.. change the medicines and start giving meds for lose motions..once that stops whichever is next symptom, inform the doc and start that medicine... basically every symptom that it shows treat that and shift ... you have to manage to keep her alive somehow..as long as she is eating she will survive.. and yes.. most important she ll have chest congestion, be verry vigilant on it as thats one reason dogs dont survive... i gave mild hot water bhaap ( desi ilaaj as we do when we have cold) for every alternate minute with breaks for 30 minutes every day so her congestion remains under control.. talk to your doc on that too..

Also, it is highly requested to each vet to please mention in prescription, which medicines are for what purpose and when to give, at what condition especially when not accessible after one time consultation . When gardenal is written under regular dosage without dog having seizures, its a critical mistake that takes a dog's life. It took my dog's life as they were written under regular medicine whereas my dog wasn't getting seizures at all.
