This is great information, Bro! Now I have to laboriously search through 50 Bibles, but at least now I know what to look for. Thanks!

But there is a such thing as Sewn and glued, that’s where it gets tricky.

I believe my ESV by crossway, cowhide leather flap with strap model, is sewn. It was like $50 on Amazon but I feel like it is quality and will last for decades.

Sewn bindings are certainly prefered. However, it seems like glued Bibles should last a lift time as well if they are treated gently rather than roughly. I personally dont see the need to treat Bibles or books in general in such a way that causes them to fall apart with use. Unless it has been yeeeaaaars of use lol. I mean glued may be tougher to read when, say, comparing with another version and you want to open them both side by side, since the glued may not stay open except in the middle of the book, but other than that it should still last for a long time.

What bible commentary set would you recommend if any?

Use bestcommentaries.com and purchase the top commentaries based on book of the Bible. Personally I have found that it is best to select individual commentaries by book rather than purchase entire sets.

The NLT illustrated study bible stays open no problems on any page - it is glued I have a bible that has a lot of glue showing - it’s a sewn binding
