My daughter has curly hair, and when I began looking into caring for her hair, I realized my hair is wavy. It’s never been stick straight, frizzes easily, and lends itself to that “triangle” shape you’ve talked about before. Especially if I try to blow it out, it gets huge, dry, and frizzy instead of sleek and voluminous. Since watching your videos, I’ve used my daughter’s curl defining cream, scrunching, T-shirt plop, and this week flax gel I made. I think my waves are 2A/2B. I think my next steps are protein (!!!) and a good haircut. Thanks for making these videos. I’m excited to be starting on this journey! I never liked heat styling, but the scrunching is easy for me. Recently I’ve heard a lot of negative things surrounding DevaCurl...a lot of ppl have made videos talking about how it damaged their hair or even made it fall out. Just pls careful ladies, keep those beautiful locks as healthy as possible :) Also what helps me with limp and really stretched out waves is Clarifying my hair and then using a hair mask on it (since you strip it clean). The buildup from the products we use tend to weight it down and hard to help form a shape. My waves never look as defined or cute as after I clarify it. I use the suave clarifying shampoo, it’s really inexpensive and the bottle lasts a long time since you are only using it like once every 2 weeks

I have fine hair, it doesn't hold any heat styling, waves are flat in minutes after styling, I always blow dried with a round brush, but it was frizzy anyways, and I always ended up with a bun, i did not like to straighten it because I have very fine hair and it looked flat, and it demaged so easily... Then I saw couple of videos on CGM, realized then when I got caught in a rain my hair used to dry in waves... Now I tried some products, curl activating cream, gel and a right conditioner, that doesn't weigh my hair down, and I have a respectable 2b/2c waves, I love them, waiting for my bangs to grow out and trying some layers to encourage my top to curl more... Thank for your advice, you're fun to watch

I just wanted to take a second to thank you for your videos. I have never really thought my hair could be wavy/curly, just thought it was frizzy, lol. I've always put my hair in a towel to dry a bit straight out of the shower, brushed my hair when applying my leave-in products and then blow dry my hair. But, after being recommended one of your videos earlier this week I decided to try some of your techniques when I washed my hair last night. I don't have "curly" products, but I applied my leave-in conditioner and some of my son's hair gel to my wet hair & scrunched, then let it dry on it's own (took forever, lol, overnight and then some). But I am shocked at how wavy/curly my hair got and best of all I actually notice less frizz! I'm definitely trying out some of your product recommendations & going to continue trying out this method. Thank you so much!

Just a word to say that some hair is protein sensitive!! If you find that every time you use protein rich products that they are making your hair feel and look worse, coarse, brittle, dry, etc please stop using them! You can really damage your hair if you keep pumping protein into protein sensitive hair. I'm not an expert, but there are many educational videos you can find on the topic. Just wanted to add that note. Melinda is right that having protein in your routine is great for MOST people. Just be aware! 💜 Also, I second her recommendation for the kinky curly knot today. It gives amazing definition to my waves and it is one of the only products I've used that lets me detangle with ease!

I was wondering what your big pain points are when it comes to scrunching hair? 2. On average, how long do you scrunch your hair? 3. Why do you scrunch your hair - how does it benefit your hair? 4. What would you expect from a hair scrunch tool (besides the basic functionality)? You can speak to design, functions, ergonomics etc. Would love to hear everyones feedback!

Same problem here! I found out that I had wavy hair about a year ago, and I’ve been working on making it healthier since then. I’ve always had ringlets around my neck and ears, while the top layer is always kinda straight. At this point, I think the top layer is just naturally straighter, but I’ve been working on ways to even it out. The first thing I found was that my application technique was wrong. If you’re just scrunching in your stylers, maybe try using the “praying hands” or “raking” method to make sure you’re really getting the product all throughout both sides of the hair. Once I started doing this, my top layer started meshing more w the bottom layer. The second thing I do is that, when taking a shower, I really try my best NOT to break the clumps of hair that form when it’s wet. So I’ll intentionally split it into only like 6 chunks of hair, scrunch, apply product, etc. and then put it in a towel or plop. This way, the straighter pieces are more likely to dry with the wavy/curly pieces and adopt a similar curl pattern with the help of the styler. Hope this helps!

@@clairetorres4226 THanks will try I get the slight wave while it is wet but it goes straighter and straighter throughout the day
@frickfrack70753 жыл бұрын
Top layers get more damage, either by the sun, being pulled up, sleeping, etc. It could also be dry from what I said above. One more thing that can help, is washing your hair the opposite way. So if you lean back and let the water hit the top of your head first, then try turning around flipping your head over, and letting the water hit the back of your head first! Oh! And I almost forgot! When you wash your hair, make sure you're holding the lengths, if you can at all points of the wash. Any time you're running water through your hair, make sure you're holding the ends as to not let them be stretched out. If all else fails, the top may need a different treatment than the bottom. So you may need protein on top, moisture on the bottom, or vice versa!

Lupita Bugarin if you like the way it looks and feels then you should be fine as long as it’s not making your hair feel brittle or anything but if it’s creating the look you want then go for it!☺️

i love your videos and i was really looking forward to getting the products, but so far i havent found a single place that i can order kinky curly or woman to woman products from (i live in sweden). Dont know if you will see this comment, but do you have any other brands that you want to recommend to someone that is just starting out?

When I was little I had 2C/3A curls. I am 21 now and my curls started to be waves. Now I thinkt it is 2A/2B. I really dont know what happened and want my curls back :(.

Changing hormones can affect curl pattern. A lot of women experience a change in hair texture/curl pattern after they go through puberty. I'm not sure if this is what happened to you, but just letting you know it is a possibility.

Is your hair longer now? You probably have longer and heavier hair and that weight pulls the curls down and makes them appear less curly. If you put layers in it or thin it out or go shorter I bet the curls will pop up a little more since some weight has been lifted.

You are such a cutie and these videos are SO helpful to me as a 26 y/o white woman who has ALWAYS thought I just had straight, frizzy hair. However, thanks to COVID, I gave myself quarantine curtain bangs and noticed that they started to curl then I thought to myself "holy shit maybe I have wavy hair!" 😂😂😂

My hair curls a little bit in the back under all my hair but i try to do the curly girl method and it just comes out frizzy

Any tips on how to sleep on hair? My hair is still very particular and can fall out of its wave easily. My hair is in a long shag kind of cut so I can’t just plop it up.

Its normal for wavy hair to straight the day after. I put in a looose bun with a scrunchie and in a pillow silk case

My biggest issue is since I have 2a hair I can get overloaded with product and I have areas alot less wavy than others so I get frustrated and end up brushing it out with a bristle brush :/

well.... yep my hair is wavy... that explains the frizz since puberty :')

When I was a toddler my brother and I both had straight platinum blonde hair, his hair is still like this, but mine is dark brown and wavy 😭

Me with type 1 hair that can't hold a curl to save its life: maybe I secretly have wavy hair?
@evelienpopelier44584 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this video! 🙌🏻 just found out I have naturally 2b waves, but unlike most other people: I do not want them tighter, I actually would like a looser wave and am not looking for ‘getting to type 3 curls!’ like most people on the curly girl method are. Only problem is that the waves are a bit stringy and frizzy and I would like to smooth them without getting more curly. Do you have any tips maybe for my specific situation? 💗 (don’t get me wrong, I LOVE curly hair, but I prefer loose waves on myself)

The thing is my hair is wavy but only a tiny bit and if I brush it out it just acts like pin straight hair sooooo my question is do I still call this 2a hair?
@melindab4 жыл бұрын
amelia koscik yep! I’d say any wave at all is in the 2’s! But everyone has different opinions and there’s no strict amount of wave or curl you have to have to fit into a category it’s all relative. I’d definitely try some styling products though and try to enhance your wave bc it could become more wavy the more you work with it!

The leave in is the women to women, should I try kinky curly not today instead for day 2?
@melindab4 жыл бұрын
is it defined and less frizzy on the first day too or only after you refresh it on day 2??
@aliceromano10284 жыл бұрын
Yes on the first day it’s defined and usually not frizzy and on the second day not so much 😬
@melindab4 жыл бұрын
Alice Romano when my hair is frizzy after I refresh it normally means I need to add more water while I’m refreshing and a little more of my styling product!🖤 I have a video on my refresh routine too if that will help at all!

Yanna i would try the Redken extreme shampoo or conditioner. It has protein too and helped me a ton with enhancing my s curls! I used that instead of the woman to woman conditioner and it worked just as well AND gave me lasting results☺️

@@melindab thank you so much for your answer. Your hair is goals as I also have bleached and split dyed my hair pink and purple. I am so ready to get on this wavy hair journey.

Yanna oh yeah I’d definitely get that redkin line then! It helped my hair so much! Go to my video about my wavy hair routine for famed hair! You should also get the leave in by redkin and once you use that system for a bit it’ll bring out your curls and then you can switch to a more moisturizing line! Like the ultra soft by redken! I’m obsessed with their stuff 😜 is saved my hair! you’re welcome! 🖤🖤
